  • There are many complicated situations which could be occurred in users' surroundings, so it is required to develop automation services to provide users with appropriate services in ubiquitous computing environments. However, most of the current context-aware workflow systems express context-aware services only with a single workflow. Therefore, they have difficulties in providing users with various and composite services by combining different workflows. In this paper we propose a CAWL-based context-aware workflow system, where CAWL is a context-aware workflow language to express a composite workflow model by describing individual service workflows. The proposed system can provide users with various composite workflow services based on a service scenario, which is described with CAWL. And by reusing a number of single workflows to construct composite workflow services, it is possible to save time and effort to develop context-aware workflows.

  • For the pervasive computing in ubiquitous environment, it is very important to manage the context model to provide pertinent context knowledge to context-aware applications. The context model should be able to support efficiently the context knowledge reusing and sharing as well as reasoning. Previous works focus mainly on the context knowledge representation scheme for reasoning. This paper proposes a context knowledge modeling scheme especially for reusing and sharing. This scheme provides well-established principles and guides for 1) context knowledge modularization and hierarchization, and for 2) context knowledge identification and organization. Once the context models are built according to the scheme, the structure of the context model and the meanings of the context knowledge elements become clear and consistent, so that context-aware applications can share and reuse the context knowledge in easy and error-reduced manner. This paper also discusses the implementation of a context model and an application for Presentation Helper scenario running on a software middleware system (CAMUS) for ubiquitous service robots which is being developed by ETRI Korea.

  • Ubiquitous computing environment means the computing environment that has taken its position so closely with the ordinary living so much like air or water. In building up the U-Korea, one of the important issues is the social issue from the drasticincrease of senior population. The contemporary society has its distinct trend in increase of senior household following the nuclear family orientation, increase of working parents with the advancement of women in society, unable to support seniors for long distance or short distance of business trip and other reasons that the need of senior welfare has been ever more felt. Accordingly, the Ministry of Government Affairs and Home Administration has developed the wireless paging system to make prompt response system for 119 Rescue when the single senior is encountered with emergency situation that is has been widely provided for the socially neglected people such as single senior, the disabled persons and others. Currently, the wireless paging system is operated as the sub-system for emergency rescue informationsystem, but due to the lack of reliability of product, problems of terminal portable transmitter, receptor and others, rejection of beneficiary and lack of knowledge in use, insufficient management and supervision of managing officers, the efficiency has been declined that there is a need of development for the system. Therefore, this study proposes the context aware information structure of the subject of ubiquitous wireless paging system required forthe development of the wireless paging system model of ubiquitous environment that improved the problems of currently operated wireless paging system.

  • Acquiring context data in a timely and correct way is now regarded as one of the crucial characteristics of the proactive service which runs on ubiquitous computing environment. Moreover, context model should be well designed to provide a solid context-aware system. Since the ubiquitous computing systems aim to provide context-aware services everywhere with any available devices, legacy services which uses context models assuming single or limited domain should be extended enough to be useful even for multi-domain muli-services. This leads us to a motivation to build a generic context model with an appropriate type of model. Hence, the purpose of this paper is to propose a generic context model by assessing a variety of model types with a sort of evaluation measures.

  • In this paper, we introduce the general way for producing context information to support context-aware applications. It can fetch raw data from the service environments, translate it to reasonable context information, and provide to multiple applications. It is designed originally for the ubiquitous computing middleware and based on the ontology processing model. Automated service applications can use this system as the form of libraries or of web services for deciding its semantic cause of action.

  • W These days, Ubiquitous is coming a more popular tool in mass communications and in advanced countries ubiquitous computing is commercialized. In Korea, we have studied the business models of the ubiquitous computing generation as well. Ubiquitous computing is the environment in which humans and computers coexist and properly work together. I would like to present a service infrastructure for a more efficient context-awareness than computing home networking system in this monograph. In the mean time, they have focused the context-awareness system on identifying users in the designated space and recognition. But I would like to focus on the middleware system structure for more efficient recognition.

  • Many security issues occur in cloud computing service environment such as authentication, access control, and so on. In this paper, we propose an effective authentication and access control model which provide integrated management and control when we access various resources in cloud computing environment. To address these problems, we suggest a context-aware single sign-on and access control system using context-awareness, integrated authentication, access control, and OSGi service platform in cloud computing environment. And we show design and implementation of context-aware single sign-on and access control system. Also we verified the flexibility and convenience of the proposed system through multi fact based integrated authentication in cloud computing environment. We could provide flexible and secure seamless security service by user context in cloud computing environment.

  • The ubiquitous environment is to support people in their everyday life in an inconspicuous and unobtrusive way. This requires that information of the person and her preferences, liking, and habits are available in the ubiquitous system. In this paper, we propose the context aware system that can provide the tailored information service for user in ubiquitous computing environment. The system architecture is composed of 4 domain models that can perform some pre-defined tasks independently. And we suggest the hybrid algorithm combined with fuzzy and Bayesian network to reason what information is suitable for user environment. Finally, we apply to agent based RGA(Research Guide Assistant).

  • With the advent of ubiquitous computing environments, it has become increasingly important for applications to take full advantage of context information, such as the user's location, to offer greater services to the user without any explicit request. In this paper, we propose context-aware active services on the basis of CAMUS (Context-Aware Middleware for URC Systems). CAMUS is a middleware for providing context-aware applications with development and execution methodology. Accordingly, the applications developed by CAMUS respond in a timely fashion to contexts. To evaluate, we apply proposed active services to TV application domain. Therefore, we implement and experiment the TV contents recommendation service agent, control service agent and TV task based on CAMUS. The context-aware TV task is to recommend programs and control of TV according to user preference, location and voice commands.

  • Context-aware technologies for ubiquitous computing are necessary to study the representation of gathered context-information appropriately, the understanding of user's intention using context-information, and the offer of pertinent services for users. In this paper, we propose the WS-CAM(Web Services based Context-Aware Middleware) framework for context-aware computing. WS-CAM provides ample power of expression and inference mechanisms to various context-information using an ontology-based context model. We also consider that WS-CAM is the middleware-independent structure to adopt web services with characteristic of loosely coupling as a matter of communication of context-information. In this paper, we describe a scenario for lecture services based on the ubiquitous computing e e e e e e to verify the utilization of WS-CAM We also show an example of middleware-independent system expansion to display the merits of web-based services. WS-CAM for lecture services represented context-information itodomaits as OWL-based ontology model effectively, and we confirmed the information is inferred to high level context-information by user-defined rules. We also confirmed the context-information is transferred to application services middleware-independently using various web methods provided by web services.
