The performance of smartphone applications are usually constrained in user interactions due to resource limitation and it promises great opportunities to improve the performance by exploring the smartphone built-in and embedded sensing techniques. However, heterogeneity in techniques, semantic gap between sensor data and usable context, and complexity of contextual situations keep the techniques from seamless integration. Relevant studies mainly focus on feasibility demonstration of emerging sensing techniques, which rarely address both general architectures and comprehensive technical solutions. Based on a proposed functional model, this investigation provides a general architecture to deal with the dynamic context for context-aware automation and decision support. In order to take advantage of the built-in sensors to improve the performance of mobile applications, an ontology-based method is employed for context modelling, linguistic variables are used for heterogeneous context presentation, and semantic distance-based rule matching is employed to customise functions to the contextual situations. A case study on mobile application authentication is conducted with smartphone built-in hardware modules. The results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed solutions and their effectiveness in improving operational efficiency.

Purpose - This study aimed to examine how the integration of IT systems was applied in the merger and acquisition (M&A) process in a Korean retail industry, based on the conceptual framework of a combination of related, existing literature. Research design, data, methodology - We employed the case study method, which involved literature reviews and interviews. We conducted a documentary survey and interviews regarding the M&A case for company A. Results - Company A had an integration strategy and plan with IT expertise before it began integrating both IT systems in D-Day. The IT integration of both systems was completed efficiently and effectively. Company A utilized not just one but all integration options, which was done in stages and according to situation. Conclusions - Companies should develop an integration strategy and have a clear integration plan with IT expertise in order to achieve successful integration. Companies trying to integrate IT systems during an M&A process can utilize all integration options in consideration of their business context and IT system conditions.

Since the creation of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 1967, the main objective of creating a "prosperous and peaceful community of Southeast Asian Nations" through regional integration remains slow. While the aims and purposes of the ASEAN include accelerating, promoting active collaboration and mutual assistance on matters concerning culture and cultural development, the desired ASEAN Integration through culture is still in question. As a multicultural region, the richness and diversity of cultures constitute both prospects and challenges. This paper discusses 1) the concept of integration vis-a-vis the ASEAN; 2) the ASEAN's goals, policies, and initiatives, concerning culture as stipulated in the key documents of ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community-Culture and Arts sector; and 3) the ASEAN identity and community vis-a-vis culture. In the end, this paper proposes a framework on the ASEAN integration through culture in the context of a single identity amidst cultural diversity.

This paper describes a framework for multimodal object manipulation in virtual environments. The gist of the proposed framework is the semantic integration of multimodal input using spatial ontology and user context to integrate the interpretation results from the inputs into a single one. The spatial ontology, describing the spatial relationships between objects, is used together with the current user context to solve ambiguities coming from the user's commands. These commands are used to reposition the objects in the virtual environments. We discuss how the spatial ontology is defined and used to assist the user to perform object placements in the virtual environment as it will be in the real world.

Knowledge management has been increasingly recognized as important in business management context. Although knowledge management has been proposed as an enabler to reach competitive advantage, little research has considered applying knowledge to business decision-making activities, which may be the main task of enterprise management. The application of knowledge to decision-making has a more significant impact on organizational performance than mere knowledge management for operational level processing. For this purpose, the present study proposes a decision support loop based on the integration of knowledge by adopting a cognitive modeling approach. The proposed model is then discussed, in the real context of an application case.

The proliferation of wireless local area networks (WLANs) offering high data rate in hot spot area have spurred the demand for possible WLANs and third-generation (3G) cellular network integration solutions as the initiative step towards 4G systems. This paper provides a novel architecture for seamless location-aware integration of WLANs into 3G cellular networks and also an analysis for the efficient handover techniques. We introduce location as a key context in secure roaming mechanism for context-aware interworking in 4G systems. The fast secure roaming with location-aware authentication is implemented at an entity called location-aware service (LAS) broker that utilizes the concepts of direction of user and pre-warming zone. The location-ware interworking architecture supports seamless roaming services among heterogeneous wireless networks including WLANs, wireless metropolitan area networks (WMANs), and 3G cellular networks. This paper also includes a description of procedures needed to implement efficient mobility and location management. We show how the LAS broker with pre-warming and context transfer can obtain significant lower latency in the vertical handover.

The problem of query rewriting using views has interested in the context of data integration where source data is described by the views on global relations. When the query and views are of the form of conjunctive queries, the rewriting is a union of conjunctive queries each of which is contained in the original query and consists of only views. Most previous methods for query rewriting using views are 2-step algorithms. In the first step, they identify the views that are useful in rewriting and in the second step they construct all correct rewritings by combining the views that gained in the first step. The larger the number of selected views in the first step, the larger the number of candidate rewritings in the second step. We want to minimize the number of selected views in the first step by defining stringent conditions for a view to be participated in rewritings. In this paper, first we offer a necessary condition for the existence of a rewriting that includes a view. For the common case that predicate repetitions are not allowed in the bodies of views, we show that our algorithm for testing the condition is done in a polynomial-time. Second, we offer an algorithm to construct contained rewritings using the view instances that are computed in the first step. The exponential containment-mapping test in the second step is not needed in our algorithm.

The article proves the relevance of developing conceptual frameworks for managing the quality assurance of logistics activities in the context of socio-economic interaction of their participants. It is established that the fundamental difference of the logistic approach in management from traditional approaches is the allocation of a single management function of previously separated, disparate material flows, as well as economic, technological, information integration of chain links into a single system capable of effective management of these flows. It is substantiated that the functioning of the enterprise as a logistics system can be represented in the form of a triad of logistics components, namely: supply logistics, production logistics, sales logistics. Management of quality assurance processes of logistics activities in the context of socio-economic interaction of their participants is a functional component of the entire logistics system due to the quality of work and interaction of all participants in the implementation of certain activities. The quality of logistics activities will affect the level of economic potential, rationalization and optimization of all logistics flows. It is proved that the management of quality assurance processes of logistics activities in the context of socio-economic interaction of their participants involves the following main areas: the introduction of a quality system of logistics processes; development and implementation of the general strategy of quality improvement at the enterprise; internal integration; controlling. Management of quality assurance processes of logistics activities in the context of socio-economic interaction of its participants requires compliance with the following requirements: systematic and comprehensive management of all flow processes; coordination of criteria and indicators for assessing the effectiveness of the entire logistics system; dissemination of the use and application of information technology; ensuring partnerships and close interaction of all participants in sales networks.

Under ubiquitous environment, recommendation system is using the collaborative filtering methods by quantifying context information, but insufficient context information can cause inaccurate recommendation result. In order to solve such problems, the researcher used context information and user's profile. But service history information in users' profiles can have the problems of being influenced by change of the user's taste or fashion as time passes by. In addition, context information and user's profile can't be properly inter-locked according to situation, which can cause inaccurate predictability. In this paper, in case a user's taste or fashion is changed as time passes by, the researcher didn't apply bundled-up value to the user's profile but applied different weight according to change of time. And the researcher could solve the problem that context information and a user's profile can't be properly inter-locked according to situation by applying different weight to the result gained by means of collaborative filtering and then by unifying it. In such ways, the researcher could improve predictability.

The purpose of this study is to make suggestions for the ongoing process of an integration of the Healthy Families Center and the Center for Multicultural Families. Based on previous studies and interview data from nine service workers at the two institutions, we make the following suggestions. First, a systematic analysis tool should be developed in order to evaluate the effects of the integration initiative with reliability and validity. Second, empirical data should be collected from the users after the integration of the two institutions and be used to promote their satisfaction. Third, a specific preparation should be made to enhance the integration process of the service workers. Fourth, the integration should be considered in the context of the community and networks. Finally, further studies are needed to understand how the integration influence family policy and social policy in larger contexts.
