Background: Safety culture, acting as the oil necessary in an efficient safety management system, has its own weaknesses in the current conceptualization and utilization in practice. As a new approach, resilience safety culture (RSC) has been proposed to reduce these weaknesses and improve safety culture; however, it requires a valid and reliable instrument to be measured. This study aimed at evaluating the reliability and validity of such an instrument in measuring the RSC in sociotechnical systems. Methods: The researchers designed an instrument based on resilience engineering principles and safety culture as the first instrument to measure the RSC. The RSC instrument was distributed among 354 staff members from 12 units of an anonymous petrochemical plant through hand delivery. Content validity, confirmatory, and exploratory factor analysis were used to examine the construct validity, and Cronbach alpha and test-retest were employed to examine the reliability of the instrument. Results: The results of the content validity index and content validity ratio were calculated as 0.97 and 0.83, respectively. The explanatory factor analysis showed 14 factors with 68.29% total variance and 0.88 Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin index. The results were also confirmed with confirmatory factor analysis (relative Chi-square = 2453.49, Root Mean Square Error of Approximation = 0.04). The reliability of the RSC instrument, as measured by internal consistency, was found to be satisfactory (Cronbach ${\alpha}=0.94$). The results of test-retest reliability was r = 0.85, p < 0.001. Conclusion: The results of the study suggest that the measure shows acceptable validity and reliability.
The characteristics of decoction water are important for the extraction of herbal drugs. In this study, the relationship between the characteristics of water and extraction efficiency of bioactive compounds from Corydalis tuber was investigated. Six different types of decoction water, including three types of mineral water from Jeju Island and three types of bottled water sold in market, were used as decoction water for the extraction of bioactive compounds from Corydalis tuber. The contents of minerals in six types of water were analyzed by ICP-AES and ICP-MS; the contents of extracted bioactive compounds were analyzed by HPLC. Multivariate analysis of variance was used to analyze the differences in total extraction and bioactive compounds extracted with six types of water. Multiple factor analysis was used to analyze the relationship among the pH, content of mineral, anion, total extractions and content of bioactive components as factors. There was a significant difference among the six types of water in the total extracts and the bioactive compounds. The results proved that the content of extracted compounds from Corydalis tuber was influenced by the types of decoction water.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of heat transfer characteristics of fibers on the Qmax of insulating nonwovens. The effects of fiber type, moisture content, washing cycles on the Qmax were observed. The correlations between Qmax measured by KES-F7 system and subjective warm/cool touch perception test was analyzed. The results obtained were as followed: 1. Heat transfer characteristics of fibers effected on the Qmax of insulating nonwovens. 2. Moisture transport properties of fibers effected considerably on the Qmax of nonwovens and the increasing rate of Qmax by increasing moisture content was much higher at wool than polyester. 3. As a result of subjective perception test, subjective warm/cool touch and wettness of wool nonwoven was increased obviously by increasing moisture content. 4. At the same moisture content, wool nonwoven showed higher subjective cool touch and wetness than polyester. 5. In the physical properties of nonwovens, thickness was the most effective factor on the Qmax of insulating nonwovens.
Purpose - This study analyzes topics discussed in the International Journal of Consumer Studies through a content analysis, to reveal the impact of cross-cultural management in consumer research. Research Design, Data, and Methodology - The International Journal of Consumer Studies has the highest impact factor among international consumer journals, and was chosen for research. This study investigated 712 articles, covering a ten-year period. Results - A total of 82 articles were found to be related to cross-cultural management, out of 712 articles. This shows a need for improvement in the area of cross-cultural management, and implies that the discipline of cross-cultural management will continue to have a significant impact on consumer studies. Conclusions - While content analyses have been conducted in the area of consumer research in the past, a comparative content analysis in the International Journal of Consumer Studies is unprecedented. This study offers insights on the comparative analysis of general articles and articles related to cross-cultural management, which will be useful reference points for future global markets and fields in distribution and consumer research.
Demand for high quality rice has always been a major factor in the international rice marketing. In the present study, doubled haploid (DH) population derived from anther culture of a Tongil/japonica hybrid was used for genetic analysis of rice grain quality. The average values of DH lines for grain weight, grain length and the ratio of grain length to width were near the mid-parent value. More than 40% DH lines showed transgressive segregation for grain weight, length, amylose and lipid content, but less than 10% DH lines observed on ratio of length to width and grain thickness were transgressive segregation. Correlation analysis between appearance qualities and physicochemical characters indicated that grain width and grain thickness both significantly and negatively correlated to protein and lipid content. A highly significant negative correlation between protein content and amylose content was observed.
The effect of silicon and manganese, in the ranges of 0.3% to 1.0wt% Si and 0.7 to 2.6wt%Mn, on the microstructure and mechanical properties of flux cored arc welded deposits have been investigated for the purpose of improving mechanical properties. Microstructure of weld metals was mainly influenced by manganese content, and manganese increased the volum fraction of acicular ferrite and refined the microstructure. Also, tensile properties were governed by manganese content, ultimate tensile strength and yield strength were increased by approximately 82MPa and 58MPa per 1% Mn addition to the deposit. Toughness was improved by increasing Mn content and lowering Si content. Optimal impact properties were obtained at above 1.8wt% Mn and below 0.5wt% Si. Acicular ferrite was predominant factor in improving mechanical properties. Formation of acicular ferrite was promoted by manganese and no direct relationship between AF(acicular ferrite) proportion and oxygen in weld metal was found.
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to develop a knowledge scale of risk factors for fall among community-dwelling older adults. Further, the validity and reliability of the scale was developed. Methods: A preliminary scale was developed through content validity by five experts and targeted subjects using the CVI (Content Validity Index). Following the establishment of content validity, the scale was used with 359 community-dwelling older adults to further establish both validity and reliability of the scale. Specifically, construct validity using known-group comparison technique, and reliability using Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ were established. Results: After content validity testing, 44 preliminary items were selected. Construct validity was established by known group-comparison, in which scores between the fall and no fall groups were compared. The Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ of the final scale was .83. Conclusion: Reliability and validity of the scale were confirmed. This tool may be used for measuring knowledge of fall risk factor for the community-dwelling older adults.
In order to investigate the effect of base oil composition on the electronic insulating oil's performances, an experimental study has been conducted using different oils. Owing to their properties, like lower pour point and gas absorbing, naphthenic base oils are used more often than paraffmic base oils for the electronic insulating oil application. Naphthenic and paraffinic base oils are significantly different in their aromatic hydrocarbon content. In this paper, PXE(para xylyl ethane), LAB(linear alkylbenzene), C13 aromatic hydrocarbon mixture and C17 aromatic hydrocarbon mixture are investigated regarding their influence on insulating oil's performances. According to present study, breakdown voltage decreased with increasing aromatic lydrocarbon content in a deep dewaxed paraffmic base oil. However, any changing in the dissipation factor was not recognizable at small treated level. Furthermore, the volume resistance was not influenced by aromatic hydrocarbon content. The gassing tendency was found as a highly sensible property, changing with treating aromatic hydrocarbons. The higher benzene ring content in the hydrocarbon, the better gassing tendency.
Heating method using electric heater was used to reduce water content in fingernail clippings. Authors found that low water content is helpful to measure EPR signal of fingernail sample with enhanced variability. Generally, natural dehydration happens in normal room condition at least one month and needs much time for using in experiment. So, artificial heating method is applied in this study for time savings. Fingernail samples were tested to find effect of water content to the EPR signal on microwave power levels for dosimetry. Low water content in fingernail reduced variability of EPR signal and makes it possible to measure accurate EPR signal. It also made it possible to measure constant movement of EPR signals on several microwave power levels. Although this method was difficult to apply directly in fingernail/EPR dosimetry, we, authors, believe that this heating method would be useful to differentiate MIS2 and RIS which are generally located at the same g-factor and almost impossible to be identified with each other.
To investigate the effects of growth and body composition of spotted sea bass (Lateolabrix sp.) by the supplemented dimethyl-$\beta$-propiothetin(DMPT). fish was fed the diets each containing 3 mM, 5 mM, 7 mM and 10 mM for eight weeks. The weight gain, feed efficiency and feed intake were significantly increased with dietary DMPT level. Condition factor was reduced by dietary DMPT supplementation. Crude protein content of fish after eight weeks increased with dietary DMPT level, whereas crude lipid content deceased with dietary DMPT level. Amino acid content was higher in DMPT-added group than control group. Amino acid composition was not influenced by dietary DMPT supplementation. Fatty acid content deceased with dietary DMPT level.
