The treatment of soils and water contaminated with MTBE using the Fenton oxidation was investigated. The effects of dosage of $H_{2}O_{2}$, and Fe$^{2+}$ concentrations, and solution pH on transformation and mineralization in soil were evaluated. Generation of TBA and acetone following Fenton-oxidation of MTBE in water and generation of acetone following Fenton-oxidation of TBA were observed. Therefore TBA and acetone are degradation intermediates of MTBE. There was a large difference of treatment efficiency in Fenton oxidation of MTBE between soil and water system. This may be caused by the complex nature of soil, soil organic matter which can consumed OH $\cdot$ radicals, and interacting with inorganic-soil constituents. The pH of soil was observed to have a significant effect on the chemical oxidation efficient of MTBE in soil The data demonstrated that optimal pH range were pH 3~4 and around 6. The soil batch studies demonstrated that treatment efficiency of MTBE was enhanced by adding additional ferrous salts but Fenton-oxidation occurred in no additional iron which indicated that iron in soil can catalyze the Fenton-oxidation. The most effective parameter of Fentonoxidation was $H_{2}O_{2}$/Fe$^{2+}$ ratio which theocratical ratio is 0.5. The optimal range of this ratio was found to be 0.6~2.3. In evaluating effect of $H_{2}O_{2}$ dosage on treatment efficiency, the increase of $H_{2}O_{2}$ did not always lead to increase of decompositions of MTBE in soil. Fenton oxidation was effective in destroying MTBE in aqueous extracts of contaminated soil and water. Experimental data provided evidence that the Fenton oxidation can effectively remediate MTBE-contaminated water and soil.
Object: The purpose of this study was to select priority points for soil management using the location of groundwater and to suggest this method for soil contamination surveys. Method: Groundwater impact range was set to an area of 100 to 500 meters from the center point of agricultural groundwater wells. Data on industrial complex and factory areas, areas of stored or used ores and scrap metals, areas associated with waste and recycling, and traffic-related facilities areas were collected and checked for whether they fall within the groundwater impact range. Longitude and latitude coordinates of these data were mapped on the groundwater impact range using QGIS (Quantum Geographic Information System). Results: Considering the groundwater impact range, the points were selected as follows: 589 points were selected from 6,811 factories and 259 points were selected from 1,511 recycling business points. Traffic-related facility areas were divided between gas stations, bus depots, and auto mechanics. Thirty-four points were selected from 149 bus depots and 573 points were selected from 6,013 auto mechanic points. From the 2,409 gas station points, 323 were selected. Conclusion: Contaminated soil influences groundwater and crops, which can harm human health. However, soil pollution is not easily identified, so it is difficult to determine what has occurred. Pollution must be prevented beforehand and contaminated soil found. By selecting and investigating soil contamination survey points in consideration of the location of groundwater wells, we can safely manage water resources by preventing groundwater contamination in advance.

The effect of particulate contamination on friction and wear between a negative-pressure picoslider / tri-pad nanoslider and laser-textured disk was studied. Particles of different concentration were injected at the head-disk interface consisting of disks with various textures and slider types at different speed. Durability increased and coefficient of friction decreased as the disk speed increased in a contaminated environment. Frictional characteristics and durability in the data zone were better for those of the laser-textured zone. It was also found that durability of head-disk interface (HDI)decreased as the particle concentration increased. The interface durability with a picoslider was better than that with a nanoslider at any condition in a contaminated environment. Based on the test results, mechanisms were proposed to explain the reasons why durability with a picoslider was superior to that with a nanoslider.

3-Monochloro-1,2-propanediol(3-MCPD) was analyzed in soy sauce products commercially available in Korea. A total of 24 samples were collected and 3-MCPD was determined by GC/MS. Sources of 24 samples were classified by manufacturing methods as naturally brewed(NB), acid hydrolyzed (AH) and mixed (M = NB + AH) soy sauces. 3-MCPD was not detected in NB soy sauce products (< 0.01 ppm, mg/kg) whereas AH and M soy sauce products showed a wide range of 3-MCPD contamination (0.0l ∼ 2.038 ppm). The contaminated levels of 3-MCPD in soy sauce products were higher than the permissible or tentative permissible level of 3-MCPD in both European Community (0.02 ppm) and Korea (0.3 ppm). These data suggest that 3-MCPD levels contaminated in soy sauce products in Korea were shown to be too high and should be reduced to as low a level technologically feasible to protect Korean from the exposure to toxic chemical, 3-MCPD.
Background EEG signals can be represented as the sum of a conventional AR process and an innovation process. It Is know that conventional estimation techniques, such as least square estimates (LSE) or Gaussian maximum likelihood estimates (MLE-G ) are optimal when the innovation process satisfies the Gaussian or presumed distribution. When the data are contaminated by outliers, however, these assumptions are not met and the power spectrum estimated by conventional estimation techniques may be fatally biased. EEG signal may be affected by artifacts, which are outliers in the statistical term. So the robust filtering estimation technique is used against those artifacts and it performs well for the contaminated EEG signal.
This work carried out the removal of aniline by wet oxidation in aqueous solutions like a industrial wastewater using Ozone, UV, and Ozone-UV . The main features of this experiment are as follows: the aniline was decomposed by OH and HO$_{2}$ radicals which produced from the reaction of water with UV and Ozone, when the Ozorie and Ozone-UV used the aniline was decomposed completely. The decomposition of aniline was very fast reaction and the reaction times were within 10min. and 20min. in case of for Ozone Ozone-UV respectively. Assumed simplified reaction mechanism from the aniline oxidation model, and the we are calculated the theoretical reaction rate constants by computer simulation, and then compared with experimental data. We suggest that this simulation program is applicable to estimate of the aniline decaying concentration and removal efficiency of aniline - contaminated wastewater.

The cosmic distance can be precisely determined using a 'standard ruler' imprinted by primordial baryon acoustic oscillation (hereafter BAO) in the early Universe. The BAO at the targeted epoch is observed by analyzing galaxy clustering in redshift space (hereafter RSD) of which theoretical formulation is not yet fully understood, and thus makes this methodology unsatisfactory. The BAO analysis through full RSD modeling is contaminated by the systematic uncertainty due to a non--linear smearing effect such as non-linear corrections and uncertainty caused by random viral velocity of galaxies. However, BAO can be probed independently of RSD contamination using the BAO peak positions located in the 2D anisotropic correlation function. A new methodology is presented to measure peak positions, to test whether it is also contaminated by the same systematics in RSD, and to provide the radial and transverse cosmic distances determined by the 2D BAO peak positions. We find that in our model independent anisotropic clustering analysis we can obtain about 2% and 5% constraints on $D_A$ and $H^{-1}$ respectively with current BOSS data which is competitive with other analysis.

It is important to identify informative variables in high dimensional data analysis; however, it becomes a challenging task when covariates are contaminated by measurement error due to the bias induced by measurement error. In this article, we present a two-step approach for variable selection in the presence of measurement error. In the first step, we directly select important variables from the contaminated covariates as if there is no measurement error. We then apply, in the following step, orthogonal regression to obtain the unbiased estimates of regression coefficients identified in the previous step. In addition, we propose a modification of the two-step approach to further enhance the variable selection performance. Various simulation studies demonstrate the promising performance of the proposed method.
