  • This paper presents a study of the elastohydrodynamic lubrication of elliptical contacts where lubricant entrainment coincides with the major axis of the Hertzian contact ellipse. A finite difference method and the Newton-Raphson method are applied to analyze the problem. Film contours and pressure distributions are compared with the results for lubricant entrainment coincides with the minor axis. Variations of the minimum and central film thicknesses with the radius ratio are also examined. The results showed that the present numerical scheme can be used generally in the analysis of the EHL of elliptical contacts where the lubricant entraining vector did not coincide with either of the principal axis of the conjunction.

  • In this study, the shapes of the wheel and rail are represented by using 3-dimensional surface functions with surface parameters and a 3-dimensional wheel-rail contact analysis is presented. A whole numerical solution of wheel-rail contact at tread and flange including 2-point contacts can be achieved with the proposed numerical algorithm. Kinematic characteristics such as variances of vertical displacement and roll angle, and variance of wheel radius difference for arbitrary yaw and lateral displacement of wheelset, are determined for the KTX wheel-rail pair as an example. The condition of yaw and lateral displacement occurring 2-point contacts to analyze derailment are compared between standard and worn wheels. Differences of contact characteristics between curved and straight rails are also analyzed.

  • We studied about conductive pastes of the source-drain contacts for OTFTs(organic thin-film transistors) fabricated by direct printing(screen printing) method. We used Ag and conductive carbon black powder as the conductive fillers of pastes. The conductive pastes were manufactured by various dispersing agents and dispersing conditions and source-drain contacts with $100{\mu}m$ of channel length were fabricated. We could obtain the OTFTs which exhibited different field-effect behaviors over a range of source-dram and gate voltages depending on a kind of conductive fillers used conductive pastes.

  • This paper attempt analysis and computer simulation of dynamics of a set of dual multi-joint fingers with soft-deformable tips which are grasping. Firstly, a set of differential equation describing dynamics of the fingers and object together with geometric constraint of tight area-contacts is formulated by Euler-Lagrange's formalism. Secondly, problems of controlling both the internal force and the rotation angle of the grasped object under the constraints of area-contacts of tight area-contacts are discussed. The effect of geometric constraints of area-contacts on motion of the overall system is analyzed and a method of computer simulation for overall system of differential-algebraic equations is presented. Finally, simulation results are shown and the effects of geometric constraints of area-contact is discussed.

  • Carbon nanotubes (CNT)-metal contacts play an important role in nanoelectronics applications such as field-effect transistor (FET) devices. Using Al and (10,0) CNT, we have recently showed that the CNT-metal contacts mediated via topological defects within CNT exhibits intrinsically low contact resistance, thanks to the preservation of the sp2 bonding network at the metal-CNT contacts.[1] It is well-established that metals with good wetting property such as Pd consistently yield good contacts to both metallic and semiconducting CNTs. In this work, the electronic and charge transport properties of the interfaces between capped CNT and Pd will be investigated based on first-principles computations and compared with previous results obtained for the Al electrodes.

  • GaN is a ppromising materials fot applications in the blue/ultraviolet (UV) light emitting diodes (LEDs)[1] and laser diodes (LDs) [2] High quality ohmic contacts are very critical to these applications since the qualities of ohmic contact system pplay an impportant roles in the high efficient device opperations. For the n-GaN there have been many repports about ohmic contacts and the sppecific contact resistance were as low as from 10-8$\Omega$cm2 However for the ohmic contacts on pp-GaN much fewer study were repported and the sppecific contact resistivity was much lower than of n-GaN. In this ppapper we repport a new Ni/ppt/Au metallization scheme and discuss the mechanism of ohmic formation

  • Graphene have renewed considerable interest in inorganic, two-dimensional materials for future electronics. However, graphene does not have a bandgap, it is limited to apply directly to transistors and logic devices. Hence, other layered materials such as molybdenum disulphide ($MoS_2$) have been investigated to address this challenge. Here, we find that the nature of contacts plays a more important role than the semiconductor itself. In order to understand the nature of $MoS_2$/metal contacts, we perform density functional theory electronic structure calculations based on linear combination of atomic for the geometry, bonding, binding energy, PDOS, LDOS and electronic structure. We choose Au as a contact metal because it is the most common contact metal. In this paper, we demonstrate $MoS_2$/Au contacts have a more promising potential in flexible nanoelectronics than $MoS_2$ itself.

  • In this study in order to find out the trends and the residual lifetime for electric connections/contacts using infrared image camera, "lifetime temperature rise model" is theoretically proposed on the base of "lifetime resistance model" and to prove this theory, experiments have been performed for various kinds of electric connections/contacts. Two suggestions have been builded up or the "lifetime temperature rise model" ; one is the linear relationship between the temperature rise $\Delta K$ and contact resistance, and the other is the functional relationship between the temperature of electric connections/contacts and the operating time which ascribed in the "lifetime resistance model". From the experimental results, measured values were quite similar to the theoretical value so that two suggestions in "lifetime temperature rise model" were appeared to be correct.
