  • Recently, consumer researchers have suggested that consumers evaluate brand by subjective memory-based-emotion which was formed by their experience. However, relatively little consumer research has been done to explore conditions under which memory-based-emotion is used in brand evaluation. Therefore, this study explored the conditions to facilitate usage of memory-based- emotion such as accessibility, representativeness, relevance of consumption goal, when consumers evaluate brand. In addition, we investigated the factors that influence responses of memory-based- emotion, such as similarity of encoding and retrieving condition and level of organization. The results of this study suggest that level of organization was positively related to accessibility and representativeness. But similarity of encoding and retrieving condition was not related to them. And accessibility, representativeness influence on use of memory-based-emotion in consumer brand evaluation. But relevance of consumption goal did not influence on use of memory-based-emotion in consumer brand evaluation.

  • The object of this study was to analyze the meaning of luxurious consumption, the subjects and the objects of luxurious consumption, the desires that propel luxurious consumption, and the luxurious consumption patterns of the past and the present. The materials and information used for this research were acquired by reviewing literatures from a library. The time frame used to separate the past and the present was the Second World War. The analyzed materials and contents for the research were the subjects and the objects of luxurious consumption, the desires that propel luxurious consumption, and the patterns of luxurious consumption. Comparing the trends of luxurious consumption of the past and present historically, the biggest differentiation between the past and present was the spread of subjects and objects of luxurious consumption. In the past, luxury consumption belonged to the wealthy only, but the accessibility of luxury consumption has increased to the point where anybody can buy what they want at will. Another difference was found in the desires that prompt luxury consumption and the consumption patterns of the past and present. Based on these results, several suggestions about luxury consumption were presented in this paper.

  • In an attempt to explore the consumption behaviors of customers regarding ethnic food restaurants the present study examined the effects of consumer characteristics, accessibility of ethnic food restaurants, product characteristics, and social factors on the customer behavior towards ethnic food restaurants, and further investigated the causal relationship between the customer behavior and his or her intent to reuse. A questionnaire survey was conducted approximately for a month with domestic consumers who had tried foreign cuisines. A total of 230 questionnaires were distributed and 215 questionnaires were collected, of which 210 were used in the final analysis excluding five due to inadequate responses. The finding of the study were as follows. First, of the consumers' lifestyles category the gourmet oriented did not yield significant effect on subjective norm or other consumption behavior, whereas the trend oriented had noticeable influence on both factors. Second, while consumers' diversity-seeking characteristic did not affect subjective norm, it affected consumption behavior of ethic food restaurants. The results seem to indicate that the diversity-seeking characteristic is more to one's individual attributes, rather than being influenced by others. Third, ethnic food restaurant's consumption accessibilities strongly influenced the subjective norm, suggesting that in using the ethnic food restaurants, the more convenient the accessibility is, the higher the possibility of use from influenced reference group. However, when consumers previously had not been exposed to ethnic cuisines, convenient accessibility was not able to overcome the barriers of consumer reluctance, nor directly shape positive behaviors. Fourth, while national uniqueness of ethnic food did not affect subjective norm, the uniqueness did have positive impact on consumption behavior of foreign ethnic food restaurants. Fifth, consumer's subjective norm positively influenced both consumption behavior of ethnic food restaurants and their intent for future use. Lastly, consumption behavior toward foreign ethnic food restaurants positively influenced consumer's intent for future use, indicating that it would be most imperative and effective to first help reinforce positive attitude in oder to encourage a more use of ethnic food restaurants.

  • This paper presents experimental instruction-level current consumption model for low power microcontroller ATmega128. The accessibility of instruction for internal memory decides power consumption of the microcontroller as much as 17% of difference between access instruction and non-access instruction. The power consumption for the given program will be increased in the proportional to the ratio of memory access instruction and lower level memory access in the hierarchy. Throughout the current consumption model, the power consumption can be predicted and optimized in the direction of reducing the frequency memory access. Also, the various optimization methods are introduced in terms of software and hardware viewpoints.

  • Purpose: Motivated by the fact that Malaysians fish consumption patterns and preferences have raised sustainability concerns, this study aims to understand the key entry points to promote sustainable consumption and increased uptake of sustainably sourced fish among Malaysian consumers. This is achieved by exploring the individual determinants of Malaysian consumers' fish purchasing behaviors and their subjective and objective knowledge of fish. Research design, data, and methodology: A survey was conducted using interviewled questionnaire on 250 consumers in selected Malaysian populations recruited via street-intercept random sampling. Results: Findings confirmed the homogeneous societal culture of fish consumption amongst Malaysians. Females and consumers with advanced degree are found to be potentially effective primary targets of sustainable consumption interventions. Future interventions should consider the solutions to the low health and sustainability literacies among Malaysian consumers, and limited availability, accessibility, and affordability of sustainable options in Malaysia. Conclusion: The study findings provide new insights for the multisectoral stakeholders in the region working on promoting sustainable fish consumption and sustainable fisheries in general.

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Despite the importance of consuming sufficient amounts of vegetables, daily vegetable intake among adolescents in Korea is lower than the current dietary recommendation. The objective of this study was to examine determinants affecting vegetable preference in order to suggest a stage-tailored education strategy that can promote vegetable consumption in adolescents. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Adolescents (n = 400, aged 16-17 years) from two high schools participated in a cross-sectional study. Survey variables were vegetable preference, the social cognitive theory (SCT) and stages of change (SOC) constructs. Based on vegetable preference, subjects were classified into two groups: a low-preference group (LPG) and a high-preference group (HPG). SOC was subdivided into pre-action and action/maintenance stages. To compare SCT components and SOC related to vegetable preference, chi-squared and t-tests, along with stepwise multiple-regression analysis, were applied. RESULTS: In the LPG, a similar number of subjects were classified into each stage. Significant differences in self-efficacy, affective attitudes, and vegetable accessibility at home and school were detected among the stages. Subjects in the HPG were mainly at the maintenance stage (81%), and there were significant differences among the stages regarding self-efficacy, affective attitudes, and parenting practice. In the predictions of vegetable preference, self-efficacy and parenting practice had a significant effect in the "pre-action" stage. In the action/maintenance stage, outcome expectation, affective attitudes, and vegetable accessibility at school had significant predictive value. In predicting the vegetable preference for all subjects, 42.8% of the predictive variance was accounted for by affective attitudes, self-efficacy, and vegetable accessibility at school. CONCLUSION: The study revealed that different determinants affect adolescent vegetable preference in each stage. Self-efficacy and affective attitudes are important determinants affecting vegetable preference. Additionally, school-based nutrition intervention that focuses on enhancing affective attitudes, self-efficacy, and vegetable exposure may constitute an effective education strategy for promoting vegetable consumption among adolescents.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the differences by comparing consumption tendency of the Flatfish and Salmon using focus group interview (FGI). The FGI was conducted on university students in their 20s, with a total of 38 respondents surveyed in seven focus groups. Flatfish was recognized as a food in the form of popular sliced raw fish and had customer image that fit for middle-aged men in their 40s and 50s while eating with alcohol. 20s were perceived to be out of date with their age group as flatfish was considered old fish that did not match their age. In addition, they felt low accessibility to flatfish. Salmon was perceived by 20s as a food with a higher appeal than flatfish. Salmon has been creating a brand identity in their 20s and 30s for fashionable and trendy food that appealed to younger generations. They considered characteristics of salmon high in intangible value, such as something sophisticated, trendy, and beautiful. 20s consumed various forms of salmon including salmon sushi, salmon bowl, and salmon fillet, and they perceived it as a psychologically close food that can be easily accessible. In this study, the color of species (orange color of salmon), accessibility, restaurant image, and social media exposure were found to influence the consumption patterns of two species.

  • Cities around the world have paid attention to public transportation as an alternative to reducing traffic congestion caused by automobile usage, excessive energy consumption, and environmental pollution. This study measures accessibility to subway stations in Seoul using a supply-demand-based accessibility technique. Then, the impacts were analyzed through land prices by use and segment. As a result of analysis using the multilevel hedonic price models, accessibility considering both supply and demand for the subway had a positive effect on both residential and non-residential land prices. The effect was stronger for residential than for non-residential. Further, among the accessibility measured by the three functions, the accessibility by the Exponential function was most suitable for the residential land price, and the accessibility measured by the Power function for the non-residential land price had the highest explanatory power. Also, looking at the impacts by land price segments, it was found that higher access to metro stations had the greatest positive impacts on the most expensive segment of residential and non-residential land prices. The results of this study can be applied not only to identify the impacts of public investment on neighborhoods, but also to support real estate valuation.

  • Korean floricultural industry has grown under the full backing of government, as it placed itself as the main export item since 2000s. Despite its high-speed growth after the domestic production scale of trillion won, the floricultural industry lost its pace after 2005, due to the market-opening of agricultural product and global economic depression. Although the national income is growing and the level of civilized living is following, spending on flowers is faltering. As of such circumstances, necessity for analyzing flower consumption trend and behavior has came out, along with the calls for expansion plan of flower consumption, under the basis of result analysis on consumer reports. The result of the research contains the trend/consumption behavior analysis on domestic and foreign flower industry to boost floricultural industry, along with reviews on various studies of the developmental process of domestic and foreign cut-flowers/pot-plants consumption trend. Also this study has reached to the various recognition of people toward flower, through a public survey. Through such results, this study would like to propose the measures for diffusion of flower-consumption culture, achieving the improvement of life-quality of public along. First, efforts on reviewing the customer accessibility is essential to create flower- culture and the consumption. Second, to eliminate the obstacles that prevents flowers from public's daily life is essential. Third is the effective public-relations on flowers. To create consuming culture and to adhere the positive images, it is essential to research and systematically organize categories of color, scent, and elements of flower and utilize them. Last proposal is the organization of flower-concerned personnels and the leading groups. The change is affected by the economical, social environment, along with the emotions of consumers. Therefore the necessity for the leading group to be the control-tower of such changes are very clear.
