Consumer satisfaction/dissatisfaction is key determinant of brand loyalty and store patronage behavior. But the results of many customer satisfaction surveys implemented by department stores show that consumer satisfactions do not predict the actual patronage behaviors well. The main reason of these surprising results would be that the consumer satisfaction indexes do not include some important determinants of consumer satisfaction. Many customer satisfaction surveys mainly focus on the evaluation of functional benefits including product assortments, merchandise prices and locational convenience. Recent studies indicate that emotional/hedonic benefits strongly influence the consumer satisfaction, intention to repurchase and intention to revisit. Our study suggests that both functional values and hedonic values should be included in developing the index of consumer satisfactions. The purpose of our study is to investigate the relationship between shopping value and consumer satisfaction, and actual patronage behavior. Shopping values is defined as the difference between total benefits and total shopping costs. Total benefits include the dimensions of product quality, service quality, and hedonic benefits. Total costs are classified as the monetary costs and non-monetary cost. The conceptual framework developed for this empirical study is as follows.
The study applies lifestyles based on the list of values(LOV) to the college student-consumers, classifies them and compares traits. The study also looks into store images of internet fashion shopping malls and differences in purchasing behaviors. The results of the study show that there are three types, namely 'self-confidence and pursuit-of-success type,'family-oriented and responsible type', and 'passive and popular-culture-consumer type'. Among the elements constituting the store images of internet fashion shopping malls, there were considerable differences between groups on 'product and information service' element and 'convenience' element. On shopping mall purchasing behavior, the study confirmed some differences on 'information source', 'product purchase amount', and 'payment method' when purchasing a product. Furthermore, there were considerable differences on shopping mall satisfaction level and repurchasing intention between groups by lifestyle-type.

A total of 33 participants included experts on digital consumption and lay person, The results indicated that there are 6 groups representing Korean consumption patterns in digital environment: Digital Modernist, Digital Boomer, Digital Chic, Digital Ludens, Digital Conservative, and Digital Renaissance. This research is meaningful in that it provides a framework to view the diverse consumption behaviors in a more holistic rather than independent perspective, considering psychological aspects such as personal values and lifestyles.
Maniac consumers have a ripple effect on marketing because they are the main body of trends and consumer economy. So It is very important that we should first read needs and wants - in other words, psychological motives. And then we should find maniac consumer segments. This is an exploratory study that was done to obtain an insight for the new maniac consumer market segmentation. It examined the definition and characteristics of digital maniacs in Korea, and it carried out a literature study on consumers who have a similar consumption trend as the maniac users as a pre-study. Also, it looked into the trends and values of the maniac community in Korea, using the previous study's scale for innovative consumers. Next, the study interviewed maniac users using the first data and focused on discovering and grouping the new maniac segments based on the results. The study analyzed the purchase behaviors, decision-making, attitude for involvement and potential needs of the digital maniacs in Korea, and it discovered the segments for the segmentation of maniacs so it could find out the disposition and status of the digital maniacs. Such approach can be used as a strategical due for maniac target marketing and design(customer-oriented marketing and design) in the future.
The purpose of this study was to compare the consumers' ethics depending on consumers' characteristics. From the exploratory factor analysis, consumers' ethics were composed of four sub-factors such as actively benefiting from non-ethic behavior, actively benefiting from illegal behavior, benefiting from passively illegal behavior, and benefiting from others' costs. As results of this study, followings were found: 1) non-city residents, females, and 20's aged group tended to be more non-ethical rather than city residents, males and other aged group, respectively. 2) Group of middle school education tended to behave actively illegal compared with that of the graduate school education. 3) Religious values influenced on consumers' ethics. 4) While the lower income group tended to be actively benefiting more from non-ethic behaviors, the upper income group from actively illegal ones.
This study examined the effects of value-in-behavior toward pro-social consumption behavior on consumers' pro-social practices and the moderating effects of consumer's social capital based on trust and reciprocity that enhances collective actions to seek socially common values. The result showed that the value-in-behavior toward pro-social consumption was positive in general, and altruistic value was the highest, followed by emotional value, social value, and functional value. The pro-social behaviors of age groups were significantly different. In all pro-social behaviors, the older group was more active, except for the rejection of the unfair business. The result also showed that the functional value and emotional value have significant effects on consumer's pro-social practices. The interaction effects between trust and emotional value and between reciprocity and functional value were significant. Based on these results, the theoretical and practical implications for facilitating the transition to the direction of consumer's role in making positive social impacts.

This study compares the expected values of appearance management for the suit buying behavior of men in two age groups: (20s-30s and 40s-50s) to investigate the effect of male consumers' expected values in regards to appearance management on the purchase behavior of men's suits between two generations. A survey was carried out with male consumers between the ages of 20 and 50; a total of 135 responses were analyzed by descriptive analysis, factor analysis, a reliability test, an independent samples t-test, MANOVA, ANOVA, and regression analysis. The results of this study were as follows: 1) From a result of the factor analysis on male consumers' expected value of appearance management and the information sources and purchase evaluative criteria for buying men's suits, each of three variance assessments clearly showed factorial structures. 2) There were significant differences between those in their 20s-30s and those in their 40s-50s in terms of male consumers' expected values of appearance management, their information sources, and their purchase evaluative criteria when buying men's suits. 3) As a result of looking at the differences in the effects of expected values of appearance management on men's suit buying behavior according to age (generation), the younger generation in this study showed that men's suit purchasing tendency was affected by the managing appearance factor for internal reasons such as enjoyment and self-satisfaction. On the other hand, the assessment of the older generation revealed that appearance management for external reasons such as showing social power, good human relationships, and conformity influenced their suit purchase behaviors.

The purposes of this study were to examine young women's fashion and their values in South Korea in the 1970s and to explore the dynamics of how the changes in values affected fashion. Fifteen Korean women who were college students in the 1970s were interviewed. With industrialization and acculturation to Western customs in the 1970s, Korean women's fashion reflected the permeation of new ideas and behaviors into the culture. New ideas of 'pursuing a career' or 'gaining professional success' rooted in the women's movement were most important and were reflected in the prevalence of casual and comfortable styles. However, 'having a good husband and being a good wife' was also important. In addition to the transition in gender roles, Korea was fast moving from a collectivist to an individualistic society and underwent the process of melding traditional and newly-adopted values in their acculturation to the West. This study helps us better understand Korea's acculturation process through dress and the dynamics involved between fashion and value changes.
