Breeding of Spray Rose 'Glory Purple' with Powdery Mildew Resistance (흰가루병 저항성 스프레이 장미 'Glory Purple' 육성)

  • A new spray rose cultivar 'Glory Purple' was bred from the cross between a pink spray cultivar 'Macarena' and a pink spray cultivar 'Million Pink' at the National Institute of Horticulture & Herbal Science. The cross was made in 2004 and a candidate genotype which named as 'Glory Purple' was selected in 2009 after three years investigation for agronomical characters from 2007 to 2009. 'Glory Purple', a purple colored spray cultivar, has vigorous growth and has powdery mildew resistance. The major characteristics of this cultivar are high yield and long stem with relatively large flower size with $157stems/m^2/year$ in yield, 63.5 cm in mean length of cut flower, 6.8 cm in mean flower diameter, 25.78 in mean petal number, and 10.2 days in mean vase life. This cultivar is suitable for propagation by both cutting and grafting methods. The consumer's preference of this cultivar is relatively higher than that of the control cultivars, 'Pinky and Charming'.

  • A new spray rose cultivar "Morning Star" was bred from the cross between orange spray cultivar 'Macarena' and yellow spray cultivar 'Lion Sunshine' at the National Institute of Horticultural Research Institute. The cross was made in 2002 and "Morning Star" was finally selected in 2007 after investigating characteristics for three years from 2005 to 2007. "Morning Star", a orange spray cultivar grows vigorously and has good flower shape. The major characteristics of this cultivar are 170.2 stems/$m^2$/year in yield, 57.4cm in length of cut flower, 5.5cm in flower diameter, 48.5 in petal number, and 11.4 days in vase life. This cultivar can be propagated by both cutting and grafting. The consumer's preference of this cultivar is relatively higher than that of control cultivar, 'Sunny Lady'.

  • A new standard rose cultivar 'Noble Red' was bred by the cross between the pink standard cultivar 'Silba 87' and the red standard cultivar 'Bravo' at the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science. The cross was made in 1999 and 'Noble Red' was finally selected in 2003 after investigating the characteristics such as flower Color, Fragrance, stem length, stem diameter, weight, and number of leaves for three years from 2001 to 2003. 'Noble Red', a red standard cultivar grows vigorously and has good flower shape. The major characteristics of this cultivar are $125stems/m^2/year$ in yield, 71.9 cm in length of cut flower, 6.0cm in flower diameter, 30.8 in petal number, and 9.2 days in vase life. This cultivar can be propagated by both cutting and grafting. The consumer's preference of this cultivar is relatively higher than that of control cultivar, 'Rote Rose'.

Production of Antithrombotic Material Extracted from Auricularia auricular-judae and the Verification of Its Antithrombotic Activity via Animal Test (목이버섯으로부터 추출한 항혈전물질의 제품화와 동물실험을 통한 항혈전활성 검증)

  • Large-scale preparation steps of antithrombotic materials from wood ear mushroom (Auricularia auricular-judae) were established as follows. Grounded dry wood ear mushroom was extracted with 75% ethanol and its precipitate was extracted with $76^{\circ}C$ water for 2 hr followed by filter pressing. The filtrate was then concentrated by vacuum and extracted with 80% ethanol, and the resulting precipitate was then freeze-dried. The formula of the product was determined using consumer susceptibility tests as follows; mushroom extract 90.5%, high fructose corn syrup 2.0%, $\beta$-cyclodextrin 1.5%, fructo-oligosaccharide 2.0%, pear puree 4.0%. When the packed products were stored at 25, 37, or $45^{\circ}C$ for 8 weeks, there were no noticeable changes in water activity, moisture content, pH, and acidity. The viable cell number of total bacteria was slightly increased during the storage period at 25 and $37^{\circ}C$, The total bacteria were not detected in the product when stored at $45^{\circ}C$. When the product was injected intravenously into rat at the level of 1,000 mg/kg, antithrombotic activities such as activated partial thromboplastin time, thrombin time, prothrombin time, and FIB were increased when compared with the control group. When the product was administrated orally into rat at the level of 500 mg/kg, it showed the same antiplatelet activity to aspirin.

A FA Intersectional Hybrid Lily 'Golden Center' with Light Yellow Petals (연노랑색 FA 종간잡종 나리 신품종 '골든센터' 육성)

  • A FA intersectional hybrid lily cultivar 'Golden Center' was developed in 2008 at National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science (NIHHS), Rural Development Administration (RDA) Korea. The cross was conducted between female parent Lilium FA hybrid 'Migreen (FA97-30)' and male parent L. Asiatic hybrid 'Sanzio' by a cut style pollination method (CSM) and immature embryo rescure at Suwon in 1999. The first selection was done and the line name was tentatively given as 'FA04-24' in 2004. After in vitro multiplication, bulb-producing ability, line, growth and flowering characteristic of 'FA04-24' were evaluated from 2005 to 2007. The evaluation of characteristics and consumer preferences were surveyed at a lily flower show of NIHHS in 2008. 'Golden Center' flowers in the middle of June and grows up to 144 cm high in length. Flower blooms facing upward, with light yellow petals (RHS, GW157C). The pollen of 'Golden Center' is sterile. Year-round flowering can be done by storing the bulb under $-1.5^{\circ}C$ conditions. It is needed to control Botrytis disease in wet season.

Breeding of a White Rose Cultivar, 'Snow Ball' with Good Color and Good Vase Life (절화수명이 긴 백색 스탠다드 장미 '스노우 볼' 육성)

  • A new standard rose cultivar 'Snow Ball' was bred by the cross between the red standard cultivar 'Red Sandra' and the scarlet standard cultivar 'Baroness' at the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science, in Suwon. The cross was made in 1998 and 'Snow Ball' was finally selected in 2003 after investigating the characteristics for three years from 2001 to 2003. 'Snow Ball', a white standard cultivar grows vigorously and has good flower shape. The major characteristics of this cultivar are $90.3stems/m^2/year$ in yield, 57.8 cm in length of cut flower, 6.1 cm in flower diameter, 85.7 in petal number, and 15.0 days in vase life. This cultivar can be propagated by both cutting and grafting. The consumer's preference of this cultivar is relatively higher than that of control cultivar, 'Tineke'.

  • The implication of this study is that the development and market participation of the next generation eco - friendly vehicles is accelerating, and consumers 'interest is increasing. Also, the product attributes of environment - friendly vehicles and the government's policy support for the next generation eco - friendly vehicles. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of purchasing behavior of eco-friendly vehicles on the product attributes of eco-friendly vehicles. Economic, image, functionality, and service convenience have positive effects on consumers' purchase intention. As a result of examining the moderating effect of the government support policy between the product attributes of environment - friendly vehicles and the purchase intentions of environment - friendly vehicles, the government or municipal government has no control effect such as vehicle price subsidy, vehicle tax subsidy, Carbon tax support to prevent emissions was found to have a moderating effect of supporting 10,000 won per ton, even if 5,000 won per ton was supported. This suggests that consumers who prefer to buy eco-friendly vehicles are more likely to have environmental factors.

  • Metabolic disease is a disease with a prevalence of 26% in Korean, and has three of the five states of abdominal obesity, hypertension, hunger glycemic disorder, high neutral fat, and low HDL cholesterol at the same time. This paper links the consumer panel data of the Rural Development Agency(RDA) and the medical care data of the National Health Insurance Service(NHIS) to generate a classification model that can be divided into a metabolic disease group and a control group through food consumption characteristics, and attempts to compare the differences. Many existing domestic and foreign studies related to metabolic diseases and food consumption characteristics are disease correlation studies of specific food groups and specific ingredients, and this paper is logistic considering all food groups included in the general diet. We created a classification model using regression, a decision tree-based classification model, and a classification model using XGBoost. Of the three models, the high-precision model is the XGBoost classification model, but the accuracy was not high at less than 0.7. As a future study, it is necessary to extend the observation period for food consumption in the patient group to more than 5 years and to study the metabolic disease classification model after converting the food consumed into nutritional characteristics.

  • Nowadays, urban townhouses are being developed in various forms according to the characteristics of different regions in consideration of the trends of the housing market. Misperceiving the needs of consumers or their characteristics as a house for living, however, they often end up becoming products that are not suitable for urban life or degraded on account of reckless regional development. It is so unfortunate that such trial and error keeps being repeated. Urban townhouses are advantageous because there is no such problem as either invasion of privacy or noise from neighbors, and it is possible to have one's own garden and enlarged parking space, obtain quality of grounding, and plan unique interior and exterior design. They are also equipped with the strengths of apartment houses as well, for example, the efficiency of joint control in crime and disaster prevention or security, architecture of diaphragm walls with the separation of gates, or the planning of common space like a central square or park. Therefore, there is a great chance that they can be developed as the types of urban housing. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to establish the basic direction of developing housing products right as space for urban life and maximize the roles of urban townhouses. By understanding their spatial as well as functional elements as a house for living, this author aims to provide a guideline for housing product development to realize urban townhouses that can meet consumer needs.

A Comparative Analysis of OTT Service Reviews Before and After the Onset of the Pandemic Using Text Mining Technique: Focusing on the Emotion-Focused Coping and Nostalgia (텍스트 마이닝을 활용한 코로나 19 전후 온라인 동영상 서비스(OTT) 리뷰 비교분석 연구 - 정서 중심 대처와 노스탤지어를 중심으로)

  • This study aims to contribute to the understanding of consumer behavior during the COVID-19 by comparing blog reviews of an over-the-top (OTT) online video service from before and during the pandemic. We anticipate that the COVID-19 outbreak prompts the use of the OTT service as part of an emotion-focused coping strategy derived from the loss of personal control and the subsequent avoidance motivation. We also posit that a strong yearning for life before COVID-19 will increase interest in the content that fulfills a need for nostalgia. Our analysis of Netflix reviews provides empirical evidence of the effects of an emotion-focused coping strategy and nostalgia on OTT service usage. First, the titles of the reviews posted during COVID-19 indicate that consumers were less likely to mention OTT services other than Netflix, more interested in domestic content, and used OTT services as an avoidance-denial strategy. Second, the blog content demonstrates that while pre-COVID reviews tend to focus on the practical benefits of OTT services, those posted during the pandemic focus on mood, emotions, and dialogue. In addition, interest in comedy and romance genres increased during COVID-19. Third, we identified a greater preference for realistic or everyday content that depicted the pre-pandemic era. This is the first empirical study to investigate the effects of COVID-19 on video streaming usage in Korea. In addition, this research contributes to the field of marketing by expanding our understanding of online video service users during COVID-19 and identifies practical implications for OTT services in the midst of a pandemic.
