  • It is common to experience delays during construction projects. Delays can ca use substantial damages to an owner as well as contractors and is the sources of frequent disputes and claims. Many studies have been carried out to assess the causes of delays in construction projects. They are found to be almost similar, except some prevailed local condition. Most of the common construction delay factors are attributed to design faults, incompetent contractor, lack of team accountability etc. To minimize or eliminate the delay we have to follow the recognized fundamental principles of management such as: cost-time relationship, time priority, accountability, rewards, innovative thinking etc. The root causes of delays found out in this paper are not so much different than other previous study. If the implementing agencies properly followed the, fundamental management principles and some other related corrections as recommended in the paper, much construction delays can be avoided.

  • Because of difference of syntactic construction, Lee dong- baek's divides into two parts. Though each parts show different principles of thinking, they aim same communicational purpose. The first half of that quotes set phrase of Chinese classical literature and folklore shows principles of expression that represent object by present cultural well-acquainted informations. It reflects process of thinking basing on cultural identity in pursuit of harmonious communication with listener. In the latter half of the work, the object is presented by mimesis and sensuous description. It implicates intention of making correspondence between linguistic sign and object, and shows principles of expression that present more directly by strengthening the motivated between sign and object. Based on discussion above, I hope we will find a clue to make contents of Korean expression education. We will convert these principles of pursuing cultural universality to make sympathy in communication and pleasure of that, or of representing object substantially to make correspondence into the contents of Korean expression education.

  • Much labour is required in the labour-intensive construction sector for workers to do physically taxing jobs like plastering, paving, surfacing, material lifting, hauling, scaffolding, etc. Passive exoskeletons have been advocated and examined in previous studies to reduce physical demands, improve work efficiency, and prevent work-related musculoskeletal disorders in construction workers. This review study examined previous studies performed on passive exoskeletons in construction or other occupational domains with the aim of finding the working principles and design requirements of the passive exoskeletons, their applicability and usability in occupational settings, and the potential challenges in their adoption, thereby finding future research directions that can overcome those challenges. Three working principles were identified: muscle assistance, joint load reduction, and maintaining proper posture. The design requirements to achieve one or more of these working principles may have a few undesired effects on the usability of the passive exoskeletons, like discomfort, unnecessary weight of the passive exoskeleton, difficulty in operation, restricted range of motion of the joints supported, and the unaffordability of these exoskeletons by the workers. Passive exoskeletons were reported to have a range of positive effects, like reducing muscle effort and improving the endurance of the workers. The study concluded that there needs to be sufficient research on real construction workers in a real construction environment to convince the workers and managers to accept passive exoskeletons. To improve the usability of passive exoskeletons, fundamental changes in design are needed through further research so that the exoskeleton can support workers in multitasking rather than a single function. They also need to become more affordable, and the other undesired negative effects of passive exoskeletons should also be addressed.

  • This study aims to make clear visual quality of organic form and structural order that is immanent in nature about a form as formative principles of architectural space design the significanced of this study is to prove the application possibility in to functional form architectural space design. All organic forms in nature has a unique shape and pattern in structure to be self-controled and good in order. Such an order in nature comes from regular construction and ratio principles which has aesthetical order by mathmetics. The specialty of beauty in nature can be revealed not only visual form but also the ratio balance and rhythm of structural principles. As we examine the aesthetic source embodied some object can be developed in to basic principles. Furthermore through this study we can find out that the form construction theory in nature forms share the quality attribute with geometrical form to be shown in architectural space design. Natural forms are ultimate visual expression of power that effects on the architectural space design. The rule of power in nature as nature formal characteristics have a direct influence and can be also applied to architectural construction. Therefore I expect that this study will be linked and continued to another structural view.

  • The multilateral attempt for present applications of art school of thought and expression is leading modern fashion as a chapter of various artistic expression. In fashion, historic art thinking which predominated the period are source of optional inspiration not simply being generated, culminated and disappear but layout principles which can reemerge as periodical needs. In other words, the past styles are the source of inspiration of new trend of the present time and will serve as the text that give birth to yet another trend. In this study, I conducted the research on the layout principles of Modernism Architecture in aspects of pure visibility and the layout characteristics. And I analyzed cases of modern fashion which were appling architectural layout principles in the view point of formal construction dimension. As the result, the layout principles of Modernism Architecture have the characteristics of diagram linearity, geometric planarity and exclusive closing. And I was applying the architectural layout principles of Modernism to fashion. The layout principles of Modernism Architecture have the tendency of lacking history types, abstract plane partition and reductionism purity in fashion. The meaning of this study is follows: The characteristics of art school of thought are given shape by appling & analysing the architectural layout principles of historical art school of thought to modern fashion in the view point of formal construction dimension. The applied possibility of historical art school of thought as the source of inspiration about the fashion design is extended.

  • Contract design plays a key role in the life cycle of BOT project. All project management activities and operation processes are arranged in consistence with the document of BOT contract which the public sector ensures that the respective roles and responsibilities set out in the contract are fully understood and fulfilled to the contracted performance criteria. With limited theories to deal with some fundamental issues of BOT contract design, we try to collect data from case studies and formulate several practical principles. The conclusions presented in this paper are analyzed from two cases, one is based on an early case in the United Kingdom, and the other based on the Taiwan High Speed Railway case. The purpose of this paper is not about covering all legal issues about BOT contract design, but rather, our work provides common considerations applicable to the contract parties of a broad range of BOT contracts. The results in this paper shall propose some fundamental principles of the BOT contract design.

  • The absence of standardized architectural design configurations poses significant challenges in stakeholder collaboration during the pre-design phase, particularly for modular buildings. Clients often lack comprehensive knowledge of potential design configurations for their proposed buildings, leading to dissatisfaction upon project completion. This issue is exacerbated in office buildings where floor plan layouts are uncertain due to diverse employee needs. To address these challenges, this research introduces a BIM-based dataset for modular office buildings using shape grammar principles. The research manipulates the location of core modules (including staircases, elevator shafts, and entrances) based on shape grammar principles, resulting in twenty unique configurations that provide standardized options for BIM model development. The initial phase involves developing a naming convention based on shape grammar principles to determine the core module locations. Using this convention, BIM models for modular office buildings are created, forming a database connected to the frontend and backend of a recommender system. This system recommends three different design options to clients based on their specific needs, fostering improved collaboration in the pre-design phase by involving clients directly. The user interface of the recommender system aids clients in understanding potential office building configurations, thereby enhancing collaboration and decision-making. Through the amalgamation of shape grammar principles and BIM technology, this proposed system offers a promising approach to advancing efficiency and precision in architectural design communication and representation.

  • This study aims at improving work reliability. It proposes a way to overcome the limitations of current scheduling methods by providing a new framework, CPAM(Construction Process Analysis Model) based on the lean principles. It suggests methods which improve work reliability and production effectiveness with variability control methods. Also it suggests methods which reduce inventories of materials and equipment and WIP(Work In Process) using two techniques; Lookahead Schedule and Weekly Work Plan. The contribution of this research also includes that it assumes planning as a process of reducing uncertainty and maximizing throughput, counter-posing plan reliability to resource redundancy as alternative strategies for managing in conditions of uncertain work flow.
