  • Currently the industrialization, the urbanization, and the phenomenon of nuclear family is mainstream of korean society. And our country enter into an aging society, on the contrary. The concept of support for aged person is dwindled away. The main reason can be summarized as the aged person's consciousness and the family's economical burden. So, the concern about the facility for the aged person has being issued as a necessary factor to be considered by public. Therefore. the problems of the facility were analyzed and the improvement direction for them were suggested in this study.

  • In this paper, it is proposed the the SCADA(Supervisory control and Data Acquisition) system in Apartment complex. The proposed SCADA system make use of the computer CRT(Cathod RAy Tube), which automatically observe the Electrical Facility, Elvator Facility, Fire Alarm Facility and process in the real-time data. In order to improve the hardware performance and the information process, the SCADA system composed of master-slave topology and decentralized the supervisory Facility. This system is expected the retrenchment of construction expenditure and the level-up of supervisory execution.

  • House supplying rate of building facilities is over 100% in 2008. In modern society, many people are thus interested in maintenance phase of building facilities by environment improvement budget because 20 years or more of building facilities are increasing rapidly. Maintenance of building facilities is depending on various factors that impact on the environment improvement budget of building facilities. However, Various methods and factors are made up complex relationships. I will analyze that environment improvement budget associated with floor, gross area, local, school type, service life and other elements.

  • Since the establishment of a large-scale public experience facility in Korea, the construction project of public experience facilities has recently changed to a form where local governments or local education offices place delivery alone or agreements. In particular, due to the low frequency of delivery and the nature of delivery organization that do not have specialized organizations specializing in Delivery Framework, the role of enhanced Public Owner is needed. In response, this study investigated the current status and operation status of public experience facility construction projects in Korea and derived problems and directions for improvement of the current role of Public Owner. In addition, the study proposed the improvement of the role of public Owner in public experience facilities, which are composed of the promotion stage and functions reflecting the factors and attribute information of the business characteristics.

  • Causes of the levee collapse are directly or indirectly associated with geotechnical engineering as well as hydraulics. In this paper, literature survey and analysis were conducted to present the alternatives in geotechnical engineering issues for rational levee design. The alternatives include the reasonable river-bed soil utilization and precautions of numerical analysis and slope stability analysis, disruption type and improvement method of drainage facility.

  • The maintenance of educational facilities is divided into inspection and management of facility managers residing in the school and Educational Environment Improvement Projects(EEIP) to carry out maintenance work. Educational support organizations collect maintenance requests through facility inspections by school-specific facility managers, and carry out numerous maintenance projects during the year. The EEIP has the characteristic of Program Management with interrelationships between projects, not multiple projects management. The purpose of the EEIP is to eliminate the inconvenience of school facility users and increase their satisfaction, and achieving the goal is judged to be successful. Despite the importance of management and performance measurement utilizing Critical Success Factor(CSF) for the operation of successful educational facility maintenance management programs, the system for achieving the goals is insufficient. This study derives CSFs for each stage of the EEIP for the success of the EEIP. The CSFs for each stage of the EEIP is expected to serve as a basis for evaluation of educational facility maintenance management programs and can be used as an evaluation index in the future.

  • The facilities of domestic elderly people are getting higher in the facility due to the rapid increase of the elderly population. Elderly people ability to evacuate the facility such as cognition and walking ability is very low. Therefore, it is necessary to secure the safety of evacuation in case of fire, but the evacuation safety measures in case of domestic fire accidents are insufficient. This study is to identify the problems of the safety of evacuation through the fire case analysis and to propose the measures against it.

Causes of Change Orders in the Military Facility Construction Projects and Suggestions for Improvement (군사시설 건설사업의 설계변경 요인분석 및 개선방향)

  • Change orders have been widespread in both the private and public construction sectors. In particular, in the case of G2B (Government to Business) contracts, adjustment of contract price and/or schedule extension is a frequent occurrence due to change orders. To uncover the causes of change orders and suggest an appropriate strategy, this study analyzed 296 cases of change orders in military facility construction projects from 2008 to 2010. The analysis revealed that the major causes of change orders are users' additional requirements (28.38%), a change of finishing materials (23.99%), and change of footing type (17.57%), in that order. Building on the results of this analysis, the authors suggest plans for practical improvements. Specific recommendations include 1) reflect user requirements at the early stage, 2) minimize the use of additional budget due to change orders, and 3) reduce the process and time for contract amendment, among others. The results of this study may provide significant implications to those involved in military construction projects, particularly project owners (i.e., the Ministry of Defense) and contractors.

Safely Improvement Program for High-Rise Office Building Management (고층건물 관리자의 안전관리 개선방안)

  • In the construction industry, most safety related researches have been focused on the safety matters in construction job site while the safety issues regarding facility management have been received limited attention. Hence, this research aimed to uncover the problems of current safety management practices then suggest improvement plans. Through the questionnaire suey and analysis, following conclusions were drawn. Regarding the safety mindset, participation rate in safety prevention activities is average at most. Therefore, the extra attention and effort by property owners and managers are required. Examination of accidents indicated that 88% of them were stemmed from unsafe activities, 10% from unstable mentality and 2% from unavoidable natural disasters. Therefore, 90% of these accidents could be prevented by eliminating unsafe activities. In addition to the above findings, several other facts and suggestions are detailed.

  • Due to its high dependency of manpower, construction work has several difficulties in terms of quality control, imbalance of supply and demand of qualified manpower, safety management for them and improvement of production. Such problems related to the management can be at some degree solved by introducing an automation facility. Since the unique environment of a construction site in the past was not structured, it is very hard to introduce a facility to automate construction work from operation of the equipment to assignment of where to work. This is a preliminary research for automation of construction work. In this study, the trend of development of a cutting-edge technology, RTLS, was researched and analyzed in order to review the possibility of utilizing RTLS in construction work and present a control mechanism for construction equipment. Although the presented mechanism is at the concept stage, which still has lots of restrictions to be solved, the application of the RTLS will be very much feasible. That is, if linkage of the study between the RTLS and the automation of construction is built, it will be expected to contribute to many fields such as cost reduction through efficient and systemic management, the reduction of construction period and precise construction as well as raising the level of the automation of domestic construction work.
