  • Improvement is required to solve problems depending on long term use of signal equipment in the existing city railroad and to raise quality of passenger services. Accordingly, for more efficient improvement, we examined the procedure of executing construction of the communication based train control system in Korean city railroads, which is globally studied. The procedure of executing construction of the system is to present a plan for construction first of ail and then to prepare a strategy for construction of the system. It is required to establish a procedure for execution in each step depending on the prepared strategy and then to establish a detailed execution plan. We studied such an execution procedure, divided the execution procedure for application of the train control system through five steps to prepare the execution procedure.

  • Until now, the eco-friendly construction (green construction) has been focused on reducing environmental impacts in use(operation and maintenance) phase. Considering the environmental influence along the life cycle of construction project, the impact in execution phase is rather lower than that in use phase. However, that impact is thought to be greatly decreased by well-organized activities. Based on its urgency and requirement for timely action, this study aimed to discuss the greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction plan in execution phase from a broad perspective. To achieve this purpose, the green building rating systems in domestic and foreign countries have been reviewed, and the practice in Japan was investigated. In order to improve current on-site greenhouse gas management, the integration among construction phases, participants, and environmental factors, and institutional supports are required as well as the contractor's efforts.

  • The main purpose of this study is to analyze the importance of the construction work of apartment buildings. The construction work operation was divided into five major tasks, which include: Schedule Control (P'1 - P5) Construction Management (C'1 - C'5), Environmental Management (E'1 - E'3), and Quality Management. Finally, this study derived major construction execution tasks through correlation between construction work and the original index and t-test.

  • Construction errors can have significant effects on project performance. Yet, any attempt to tackle error should be driven by the ability to understand its archetypal nature. This study aims to analyze a variety of construction errors at the execution stage, in order to develop a comprehensive set of categories that shall provide insights about the effect of different error types on the industry. We investigate a database provided by an authoritative source, which includes a number of 256 construction errors that occurred in the year 2009 in Dubai construction industry. Results from this study reveal that the most common error arose from 'poor workmanship' which accounted for 21% of the total encountered faults. The next most common types arose from the 'usage of impaired materials', followed by the 'deviation from an intended dimension'. These observations infer that the majority of construction errors are driven by workers' lack of skill or competence. Moreover, it suggests that execution-oriented errors are the major cause of faults and accidents rather than design errors.

  • Wall of hanok is related to exterior, inner environment, and the period and cost of construction. This study analyzes traditional wall execution method and suggests improved one. The characters of the improved execution method are use of ready made goods, application of dry and prefabricated method and improvement of airtightness and insulation capacity etc. The result of this study needs production of pilot productions and tests of capacity. But this new method will be useful to save the period and cost of hanok construction.

From this paper, most mechanical flaws are from design mistakes, material flaws, other engineering construction's negligence of construction execution and careless system operation managements. Through this study, the author suggested the way to reduce mechanical flaw, during construction process from drawing survey before execution start to completion of construction.

  • The construction industry has challenges and opportunities for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The task of the construction industry is to improve the quality of construction, which is particularly necessary for the Fragile State. The construction industry's primary role is to provide jobs and maintain and improve the construction environment that affects the quality of life. Using the Delphi method and EFA in this study, [Pre-Execution] and [Execution] were derived as risk areas that require intensive hedge when penetrating the construction market in fragile states. It was concluded that the risk hedge to the master plan for the business conditions and infrastructure is the most important.

  • As one of staff members participated in the full course of the plant construction project of On-san Refinery to its successful completion. I had my past expierence that the plant construction project was so complicated, and a Long period required, and thus there were so money problems to be solved. Among the problem, I mainly noticed that the following listed points were solved and improved. 1. Each drawing should be in every accuracy possible. 2. Contract should be specified in every detail possible. 3. All invoiced prices of breack down list should be coped with the current market prices. 4. All execution of work should be in the most accuracy. A. Planing execution of work. B. Coordination with supervisor group. C. Economical method for execution of work. D. Safety control. 3, Calculation work field should be established seperately 6. Each staff members should be work at the best of his pride.

  • For decades, the productivity issue has been a primary concern for the all stake-holders who participate in domestic construction industry. Especially, between a whole life cycle of building, the construction phase's productivity problem makes or break the entire project. In this respect, the general construction company, who accept the order and construct the building(so called General Contractor), should consider various strategies, such as schedule management, cost management, quality management, inner-crew management, etc., for the productivity improvement., and almost of these management methods have been studied for a long time. But, the researches and studies about the specialty contractor, who construct the building directly in construction site were not sufficiently complete yet. This research begins as an idea which tries to apply the BIM(Building Information Modeling) into the tasks of Specialty contractors for their productivity improvement. And for the effective application of construction BIM to specialty contractors, establish of the BIM project execution plan for them, not the fragmentary adoption of BIM. Therefore, in this paper, we develop the BIM project execution plan for the reinforced concrete companies who conduct the framework construction which located on CP(Critical Path) Especially, we model the "Construction BIM Use List for the RC Work", "BIM Application Master Process" and "BIM Application Detailed Process", and general contractor who use these BIM uses list and process models can manage various specialty contractors about schedule, cost, earned value, quality, safety and environment management systematically.
