The finite element analysis for optimizing a mirror system consisting of a large-diameter mirror and flexures requires numerous, repetitive calculations and corrections of the actual model to satisfy the given design conditions. In general, modification of this real model is conducted by reconfiguring nodes of the elements. The reconfiguration is very time-consuming work, to fix the continuity of each of the newly formed component nodes at the interfaces. But the process is a very important factor in determining the analysis time. To save time in modeling and actual computation, and to attain faster convergence, we present a new opto-mechanical analysis using non-shared node connections at each of the interfaces of the optical components. By comparing the results between the new element model and a conventional element model with shared node connections, we found that the opto-mechanical performance was almost the same, but the time to reach the given condition was drastically reduced.

The local governments of major cities in Korea are giving focus on public transportation to reduce congestion and improve accessibility in city areas. In this regards, the proper measurement of accessibility is now a key policy requirement for reorganizing the public transport network. Public transport routing problems, however, are considered to be highly complicated since a multi-mode travel generates different combinations of accessibility. While most of the previous research efforts on measuring transport accessibility are found at zone-levels, an alternative approach at a finer scale such as bus links and stops is presented in this study. We proposes a method to compute the optimal route choice of origin-destination pairs and measure the accessibility of the chosen modes combination based on topological configuration. The genetic algorithm is used for the computation of the journey paths, whereas the space syntax theory is used for the accessibility. This study used node-link data in GIS instead of axial lines which are manually drawn in space syntax. The resulting accessibilities of bus stops are calibrated by O-D survey data and the proposed process is tested on a CBD of Seoul.

This paper proposed automated methods for the detection of breast mass. We analysed characteristic of the mass by using the features on mammograms. The homogeneity was used to distinguish mass and abnormal homogeneous tissue from the Cooper's ligament and multiple threshold method was used to deal with the high density candidates. By using the 8-connectivity, the first step candidates were selected. We generated the dualistic images of each candidate in which we regard the gray value as topographic height information. From these candidates, the second candidates were selected by comparing the circularity and the distribution rates. The final detection was done with the method in which we generated the template of each candidate and compared each other. From these methods, we grade the order from the candidate. We applied the algorithm to the 136 mammograms and compared to the radiologist's outlines of the leisions. The detection resulted that the sensitivity of the proposed methods was 93.38% and 97.63% FP(False positive) which we can segmented mass in the first grade in the 124 cases.

In this paper, the new VLSI architecture of a reconstruction filter for morphological image segmentation is proposed. The filter, based on the $h_{max}$ operation, simplifies the interior of each region while preserving the boundary information. The proposed architecture adopts a partitioned memory structure and an efficient image scanning strategy to reduce the operations. The proposed memory partitioning scheme makes it possible that every data required for processing can be read from each memory at a time, resulting in parallel data processing. By the extended connectivity consideration, the operation is much decreased because more simplification is achieved in scanning stage. The selective raster scan strategy endows the satisfactory noise removal capability with negligible hardware complexity increase. The proposed architecture is designed using VHDL, and functional evaluation is performed by the CAD tool, Mentor. The experiment results show that the proposed architecture can simplify image profile with less than 18% operations of the conventional method.

A floating type of memristor emulator which acts like the behavior of $TiO_2$ memristor has been developed. Most of existing memristor emulators are grounded type which is built disregarding the connectivity with other memristor or other devices. The developed memristor emulator is a floating type whose output does not need to be grounded. Therefore, the emulator is able to be connected with other devices and be utilized for the interoperability test with various other circuits. To prove the floating function of the proposed memristor emulator, a Wheatstone bridge is built by connecting 4 memristor emulators in series and parallel. Also this bridge circuit suggest that it is possible to weight calculation of the neural network synapse.

This paper designs an interpolator for a high speed ultra wide bandwidth (UWB). The UWB wireless technology will play a key role in short-range wireless connectivity supporting very high bit rates availability, low power consumption, and location capabilities. Because the UWB needs high operating speed, a cubic interpolator based on variable parameters for the UWB needs to be operated at a high speed. In order to improve an operating speed, the modified cubic interpolator is based on both a parallel processing and a pipelining in the existing interpolator simultaneously. Experimental results show that a maximum operating speed and period of the proposed interpolator using Stratix II EP2S60F1020C3 is 102.42MHz and 9.764ns, respectively. Compared to the conventional interpolator, the designed cubic parameter interpolator has been improved more than about 190%.
Purpose The high-technology market shows characteristics of a highly interdependent network market in both supply-side and demand-side, compared to other markets. Particularly, for convergence products, connectivity with related elements, as well as characteristics of innovation itself, is relatively important to the extent that they combine functions provided by several devices into a single device. Therefore, this study aims to identify whether network externality exists in value and adoption of a convergence product and discover a source of network externality, if any. Design/methodology/approach: Through a preceding research analysis and a literature review, 'social influence' and 'network size' have been drawn as direct network elements. On the other hand, general (comprehensive) concept compatibilities including 'intra-technology compatibility', 'inter-technology compatibility' and 'complementary-technology compatibility' are regarded as indirect network elements. Findings: Major findings are as followed;- First, it is shown that the factors influencing on perceived value of a convergence products are 'social influence' and 'network size' as the direct network elements and 'complementary-compatibility' among indirect network elements. Second, it is also found that 'intra-technology compatibility', 'inter-technology compatibility', 'complementary-compatibility' and 'perceived value' have significant effects on adoption of a convergence product. Particularly, it is known that 'complementary-compatibility' is an important source of network externality as it plays a decisive role in value judgment and has significant effects on perceived value. It is worthwhile to notice that this study comprehensively explains effects of network on high-tech products by structuring comparability as a multi-dimensional concept, as well as direct network elements.

Generally, the network topology design problem, which is difficult to solve with the classical method because it has exponentially increasing complexity with the augmented network size, is characterized as a kind of NP-hard combinatorial optimization problem. The problem of this research is to design the highly reliable network topology considering the connection cost and all-terminal network reliability, which can be defined as the probability that every pair of nodes can communicate with each other. In order to solve the highly reliable network topology design problem minimizing the construction cost subject to network reliability, we proposes an efficient two phase approach to design reliable network topology, i.e., the first phase employs, a genetic algorithm (GA) which uses $Pr\ddot{u}fer$ number for encoding method and backtracking Algorithm for network reliability calculation, to find the spanning tree; the second phase is a greedy method which searches the optimal network topology based on the spanning ree obtained in the first phase, with considering 2-connectivity. finally, we show some experiments to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our two phase approach.

It is of great significance in the NGN - which supports a ubiquitous network environment in which users can use multiple devices and all the devices are connected to networks - to support the terminal mobility as well as service continuity. The IMS architecture, which is considered as session control layer in the NGN, exists to support a wide range of advanced new services in addition to the traditional voice and data connectivity offerings of "old" telecommunications. The recent IMS specification also defines IUT (Inter UE Session Transfer) functionality in order to support service continuity in the NGN. However, service continuity in IMS has a limitation that two terminals involved in session transfer should belong to the same user. In this paper, we proposed a new device discovery mechanism for IMS and extended UEs with a few capabilities to overcome some of IMS's limitations. We also analysed how much overhead of the proposed method in terms of signaling cost will be.

In this paper, we propose an improved MPR selection method considering mobility and density of nodes for ad-hoc networks. In Optimized Link State Routing(OLSR), a node selects 1-hop Multi-Point Relay(MPR) nodes to cover all 2-hop neighbor nodes. In a high population area, many nodes are likely to be selected as MPR nodes by their neighbors. This leads to increase in contention among MPR nodes and may decrease overall performance of the network. In addition, when an MPR node leaves the communication range of its MPR selector node, it can no longer perform as the MPR node and the performance of the network may also decrease. In this paper, we propose an MPR selection method which measures the mobility and density of nodes by exchanging the hello messages and gives the priorities to the nodes for MPR selection. Performance evaluation results using OPNET show that the proposed method is superior to OLSR or the MPR candidate method in terms of connectivity and throughput.
