  • Purpose: The Covid-19 pandemic has triggered several herd purchase behaviors, and online shopping has been considered a health-related preventative behavior. Thisstudy aimsto the relative impact of health threat beliefs concerning Covid-19 (perceived susceptibility and perceived severity) and herd mentality on consumers' online shopping post-adoption disconfirmation and continuance intention of online shopping. Research design, data and methodology: An internet survey was conducted with Vietnamese consumers, and upon screening, usable data of 292 responses were analyzed using PLS-SEM. Results showed that while herd mentality positively affects disconfirmation, health threat beliefs including perceived susceptibility and perceived severity of Covid-19 do not. Results: Results also provided further support for the notion that disconfirmation is a crucial determinant of post-adoption continuance intention. Moreover, herd mentality also has a significantly negative influence on online shopping post-adoption continuance intention. Conclusions: The research provides evidence supporting the role of herd mentality and post-adoption disconfirmation in driving consumers' intention to continue online shopping. However, the research shows that neither the perceived susceptibility of Covid-19 nor the perceived severity of Covid-19 has significant impact on post-adoption disconfirmation, adding mixed evidence to the application of health belief theory in technology (such as online shopping) adoption.

  • It is quite essential that requirements allocation and analysis would be done for the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of all units when designing a satellite. Although KOMPSAT-2 inherits relatively large portions of the electrical designs from KOMPSAT-1, it has a new instrument and different combinations of sensors and actuators as well as their driving circuitry. Many requirements for the electromagnetic compatibility were modified and newly allocated for KOMPSAT-2. Naturally, they must be justified through analyses from the early stage of the program. In this paper, the EMC compatibility requirements for KOMPSAT2 are presented and verified for their suitability. In addition, some results, which were obtained from various analyses, are presented and discussed.

  • 3D magnetic inversion, based on the assemblage of 2D forward modeling and inversion as a practical technique to reflect the a priori information, was conducted to investigate the spatial distribution features of black-shale related and pyrometamorphic uranium deposit and several lithological units of Ogcheon Super Group in an area of Geumsan. By using the 3D visualization technique with suitable susceptibility interval and horizontal slice map, the spatial distribution of magnetic susceptibility corresponded to the black shale related uranium bearing lithological units, Black Slate member was well coincided with a information of uranium deposit. Also, even though it is indirect indicator for the detetction of uranium deposits interbedded in Gray Hornfels member, spatial susceptibility distribution which shows the south-east magnetic linearment corresponding to the Majeon-ri formation and Dark Gray Slate were matched well. From this investigation, we inferred that maximum depth extension which Black Slate member can be separately recognized with respect to adjacent Dark Gray Slate with strong magnetic susceptibility anomaly is about 150m with reference elevation level of 306m. In addition, Majeon-ri formation located south of Black Slate member revels relatively high magnetic susceptibility range but shows high spatial susceptibility fluctation. And, as an intrusive rocks, Jurassic Biotite Granite shows relatively low magnetic susceptibility characteristics. On the contrary, Cretaceous granite distributed in soutthern part of the study area shows the relatively high susceptibility distribution.

  • Nutrient manipulation is a promising strategy for controlling plant diseases in sustainable agriculture. Although many studies have investigated the relationships between certain elements and plant diseases, few have comprehensively explored how differing mineral nutrition levels might affect plant-fungal pathogen interactions, namely plant susceptibility and resistance. Here, we systematically explored the effects of the seven mineral elements that plants require in the greatest amounts for normal development on the susceptibility of soybean plants (Glycine max) to Fusarium oxysporum infection in controlled greenhouse conditions. Nitrogen (N) negligibly affected plant susceptibility to infection in the range 4 to 24 mM for both tested soybean cultivars. At relatively high concentrations, phosphorus (P) increased plant susceptibility to infection, which led to severely reduced shoot and root dry weights. Potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), sulfur (S), and iron (Fe) induced plant resistance to infection as their concentrations were increased. For K and Ca, moderate concentrations had a positive effect on plant resistance to the pathogen, whereas relatively high doses of either element adversely affected plant growth and promoted disease symptoms. Further experiments were conducted, assessing disease suppression by selected combinations of macro-elements and Fe at screened concentrations, i.e., K (9 mM) plus Fe (0.2 mM), and S (4 mM) plus Fe (0.2 mM). The disease index was significantly reduced by the combination of K plus Fe. In conclusion, this systematic investigation of soybean plant responses to F. oxysporum infection provides a solid basis for future environmentally-friendly choices for application in soybean disease control programs.

  • Accumulated evidence has indicated that Ephrin A1 (EFNA1) is associated with angiogenesis and tumorigenesis in various types of malignancies, including colorectal cancer (CRC). In the current study, we performed an online search using the public microarray database to investigate whether EFNA1 expression might be altered in CRC tissues. We then conducted a case-control study including 306 subjects (102 cases and 204 well-matched controls) in Xiaoshan County to assess any association between genetic polymorphisms in EFNA1 and CRC susceptibility. Searches in the Oncomine expression profiling database revealed EFNA1 to be overexpressed in CRC tissue compared with adjacent normal tissue. The rs12904 G-A variant located in the 3' untranslated region (UTR) of EFNA1 was observed to be associated with CRC susceptibility. Compared with the AA homozygous genotype, those carrying GA genotype had a decreased risk of developing CRC (odds ratio (OR)=0.469, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.225-0.977, and P=0.043). The association was stronger among smokers and tea drinkers, however, no statistical evidence of interaction between rs12904 polymorphism and smoking or tea drinking on CRC risk was found. Our results suggest that EFNA1 is involved in colorectal tumorigenesis, and rs12904 A>G polymorphism in the 3' UTR of EFNA1 is associated with CRC susceptibility. Larger studies and further mechanistic investigations are warranted to confirm our findings.

  • Background: Published data regarding the association between xeroderma pigmentosum group D (XPD) Lys751Gln and Asp312Asn polymorphisms and gastric cancer susceptibility havew been inconclusive. This meta-analysis was therefore performed toobtain a more precise estimation of any relationship. Materials and Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted to identify all case-control studies of Lys751Gln and Asp312Asn polymorphisms and susceptibility to gastric cancer. Summary odds ratios (ORs) and its 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) were calculated using a random-effects model with the software STATA (version10.0). Results: A total of 12 case-control studies including 3,147 cases and 4,736 controls were included. Overall, no significant associations were found in some models (for Lys751Gln: Lys/Gln vs Lys/Lys: OR=1.144, 95% CI=0.851-1.541, Gln/Gln vs Lys/Lys: OR=1.215, 95% CI = 0.740-1.955, dominant model: OR=1.137, 95% CI=0.818-1.582; recessive model: OR=1.123, 95% CI=0.765-1.650; for Asp312Asn: Asp/Asn vs Asp/Asp: OR=1.180, 95% CI=0.646-2.154, dominant model: OR=1.380, 95% CI = 0.812-2.346), but significantly elevated susceptibility was found for Asp312Asn polymorphism in some models (Asn/Asn vs Asp/Asp: OR=2.045, 95% CI=1.254-3.335, recessive model: OR=1.805, 95% CI =1.219-2.672), for the additive model, the XPD Lys751Gln and Asp312Asn polymorphisms were not significantly associated with gastric cancer susceptibility. In stratified analyses, significantly elevated susceptibility was found for some models in the Chinese population. Conclusion: This meta-analysis suggested the XPD Asp312Asn polymorphism might be a potential biomarker of gastric cancer susceptibility in overall population, while both XPD Lys751Gln and Asp312Asn polymorphisms might be risk factors of gastric cancer susceptibility in Chinese.

  • The present study was conducted to investigate isolation and antimicrobial drug susceptibility of Pasteurella spp from pneumonic calves and cows (pneumonic lungs) in Gyeongnam south area from January to November 2000. Pasteurella multocida and P haemolytica were isolated 136 (53.8%) and 22(8.7%), respectively, from 158 of 253 pneumonic calves of 1 to 12 months of age and from pneumonic lungs and simultaneous isolation rate of P mutocida and P haemolytica was 4 (1.6%). Seasonal isolation rate of Pasteurella spp in calves and pneumonic lungs varied from 3 to 65.2%, and it was higher in Fall. The majority of biochemical and cultural properties of P multocida and P haemolytica isolated from calves and pneumonic lung were identical to those of the reference strains employed. Pneumonic lesions of the examined lungs were histologically identified as purulent bronchopneumonia and fibrinous pneumonia. All isolates were resistant to penicillin, amikacin, lincomicin, colistin, cloxacilling, sulfonamide, kanamycin, sulfamethoxasoletrimetoprim, and gentamicin(>80%), but some of them were susceptible to amoxicillin, norfloxacin, cephalexin, cefazolin, orbifloxacin, enrofloxacin, and ciprofloxacin(>60%).

  • Korea is considered to be a seasonal frozen soil area that is thawed in the spring, and most of the area is frozen in winter as to the characteristic of geography. In the current design codes for anti-freezing layer, the thickness of anti freezing layer is calculated by freezing depth against the temperature condition. Therefore, they have a tendency of over-design and uniform thickness without the considerations of thermal stability, bearing capacity and frost susceptibility of materials. So, it is essential for studying the appropriateness and bearing capacity besides the seasonal and mechanical properties of pavement materials to take a appropriate and reasonable design of the road structure. In this research, the evaluation of frost susceptibility on subgrade, ant-freezing layer, sub base was conducted by means of the mechanical property test and laboratory field road model downed scale experiment. The temperature, heaving amount, heaving pressure and unfrozen water contents of soil samples, the subgrade, anti-freezing layer, sub base soils of highway construction site, were measured to determine the frost susceptibility.
