Design of Emergency Evacuation Guiding System with Serially Connected Multi-channel Speakers (직렬 스피커 연결을 이용한 비상 대피 유도 시스템의 설계)

  • In general, existing emergency evacuation guiding systems depend on visual techniques like emergency lights or LEDs. Actually people in the case of fire emergency condition may not obtain a range of view because of smoke from the fire. This paper introduces a technique to design an emergency guiding system using directivity sound to cope with this problem. In this case all speakers are serially connected for audio signal transmission in a serial fashion to achieve convenient speaker installation. Floyd algorithm is used to find shortest evacuation paths. Because serially connected multi-channel speakers are weak in case of disconnection, this paper uses a technique to solve the diagnostic problem. In the proposed system, a PC based on the USB protocol is used for control and observation. The system has achievements, such as increasing evacuation rate under emergency conditions, and serial transmission of audio signal for easy maintenance and low installation cost.

Numerical Study on a Hydrogen Recirculation Ejector for Fuel Cell Vehicle (연료전지 수소재순환 이젝터 시스템에 관한 수치해석적 연구)

  • Ejector system is a device to transport a low-pressure secondary flow by using a high-pressure primary flow. Ejector system is, in general, composed of a primary nozzle, a mixing section, a casing part for suction of secondary flow and a diffuser. It can induce the secondary flow or affect the secondary chamber pressure by both shear stress and pressure drop which are generated in the primary jet boundary. Ejector system is simple in construction and has no moving parts, so it can not only compress and transport a massive capacity of fluid without trouble, but also has little need for maintenance. Ejectors are widely used in a range of applications such as a turbine-based combined-cycle propulsion system and a high altitude test facility for rocket engine, pressure recovery system, desalination plant and ejector ramjet etc. The primary interest of this study is to set up an applicable model and operating conditions for an ejector in the condition of sonic and subsonic, which can be extended to the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. Experimental and theoretical investigation on the sonic and subsonic ejectors with a converging-diverging diffuser was carried out. Optimization technique and numerical simulation was adopted for an optimal geometry design and satisfying the required performance at design point of ejector for hydrogen recirculation. Also, some sonic and subsonic ejectors with the function of changing nozzle position were manufactured precisely and tested for the comparison with the calculation results.

Analysis of Partial Discharge Characteristics in SF6 Gas Insulation (SF6 가스절연에서 부분방전의 특성분석)

  • This paper deals with the characteristics of partial discharge (PD) for the purpose of a condition based maintenance (CBM) of gas insulated switchgears (GIS) in power equipment. Four types of electrode systems such as a protrusion on enclosure (POE), a particle on spacer (POS), a free particle (FP) and a Floating were designed and fabricated. PD pulses were measured using UHF sensor with a frequency range of 300 MHz~1.4 GHz and a DAQ with a sampling rate of 250 MS/s. Discharge inception voltage (DIV), discharge extinction voltage (DEV), and phase resolved partial discharge (PRPD) were analyzed depending on electrode systems. The average DIV in the POS was 28.8 kV. It was about 1.7 times higher than that in the FP, which was the lowest value of 17.2 kV. The FP shuffled and jumped at the applied voltage of 23.5 kV. Over 95% of PD pulses in the POE were generated in the negative polarity ($181^{\circ}{\sim}360^{\circ}$) of applied voltage. The results showed the phase (${\Phi}$)-magnitude (dBm) of PD pulses by UHF sensor, a cluster was formed separately depending on electrode systems.

A Study on the Book Circulation Rules of Public Library in Korea (전국 공공도서관 대출규정 조사 연구)

  • Regardless of East and West, public libraries provide various services to their communities based on collections. The decisive reason for local residents to visit public libraries is to access and borro w collections. An important condition maintenance to support these activities and services is the library circulation(usage) rules. Therefore, this study compared and analyzed the library membership, maximum loan items, loan period, loan reserve and renewal, overdue fines, disposal of lost and damaged items, loan of non-book materials, loan regulations for the disabled. And after checking the relative deviations in connection with the library cases of major developed countries, this study proposed the improvement of circulation rules. In order to minimize public complaints about circulation services and to relieve the burden of practitioners such as personnel disadvantage due to administrative audit for non-recoverable ite ms, public libraries must faithfully rearrange the circulation rules and regulations.

  • The waterfront has distinct climate characteristics different from urban or inland area. These may create not only the rise of energy and maintenance costs for facilities located at waterfront areas, but also the negative effects on the climate of the nearby inland area, unless these are treated with particular care. For the present study, the climate characteristics of waterfront were examined with climate data of 10 observation points carefully selected in Busan area. Each weather observation point was classified into either waterfront area of inland area, based on the distance from the coastal line. Special considerations were given to the climate data gathered at the Dae-Yeon weather station because it shows the climate characteristics similar to those of inland area, although it is located very near the waterfront area. Results indicates that this peculiar climate condition attributes, at least in part, to the reclamation of frontal coastal area.

  • With the reduction of contagious diseases throughout the world and prolonged life expectancy has lead into increase of habitual related diseases. Industrial development and better economic situation made people more concerned about their health. As primary illnesses are subdued in the past years, health care system and the public value prevention and well-being more than the treatment itself. Based on this trend, this study focused on the view of life from the perspective of Oriental medicine as it's peculiarities, regimen methods, and the definition of healthy life are evaluated. Following results were obtained: - View of life in Oriental medicine focused on two basic principles of interrelationship between the organs internally, inter-dependency with the natural environment and social surrounding externally as recognition and respect between the medium were valued. - Sustaining and maintaining good health in Oriental medicine are closely related to prenatally healthy pregnancy and fetation, as well as prenatal training. Postnatal maintenance includes accommodation to seasonal changes, adequate food intake, mind control, various regimen methods and avoidance of wrong doings. - Defining health includes body's internal condition and external influences, principles of essence, qi, spirit, and yin and yang, harmony and balance, and individuality. - To conclude, good health in Oriental medicine is defined as 'external adaptation to society and natural environment, and internal balancing of individual difference with accumulation of essence, nurturing and circulating qi, and every material around the body in harmony and balance."

Application of Electrochemical Method for Decolorization of Biologically Treated Animal Wastewater Effluent (생물학적 축산폐수 처리수 색도제거를 위한 전기화학적 방법의 적용)

  • This research was conducted to clarify the characteristics of electrochemical decolorization of effluent discharged from a biological animal wastewater treatment process and to finally establish parameters or mode for optimum operation of electrolysis system. Average color unit of wastewater was about 1,200 and DSA(Dimensionally Stable Anode) was used as electrode. Experiments were performed with two different operation conditions or modes, fixed voltage-free current(Run A) and free voltage-fixed current(Run B). Color removal rate was proportional to the electrode area and electrical conductivity, and an equation subject to them at a condition of fixed voltage was derived as follows; Ct=C0ekt, k=[{0.0121×a(dm2)× c(mS/cm)}+0.0288], [where, C0: initial color, Ct: color unit after treatment for t, k: reaction coefficient, t: time(min.), a: electrode area, c: conductivity]. From the study on the effects of current density on color removal, it was revealed that the removal efficiency of color was function of the current density, showing direct proportion. However, when considered energy consumption rate, maintenance of low current density was an economical way. Based on the obtained results, it was concluded that supplementation of electrolyte is not necessary for the removal of color from the effluent of secondary treatment process and operation with the mode of free voltage-fixed current, rather than operation with fixed voltage-free current mode, would be an efficient way to increase the removal performance and capacity per consumed energy.

  • The cone penetration test(CPT) has gained its popularity in site characterization indebted by its reliability, speed, economy, and automatic measurement system since its development in the 1930s. The CPT results, commonly consisting of cone tip resistance, sleeve friction, and pore water pressure measurements, allow us to classify soils as well as to reveal their engineering characteristics. The site condition at which the CPT is allowable is often dependent on the capacity of a CPT system. In Korea, it has been considered that the CPT could be appled only to soft soils in most cases because CPT systems available for stiff soils are very rare due to their expensive procurement and maintenance cost. Luoisiana Transportation Research Center(LTRC) has developed and implemented a field-rugged continuous intrusion miniature cone penetration test(CIMCPT) system since the late 1990s. The miniature cone penetrometer has a sectional cone area of $2cm^2$ allowing system capacity reduction compared to the standard $10cm^2$ cone penetrometer. The continuous intrusion mechanism allows fast and economic site investigation. Samsung Engineering & Construction has recently developed and implemented a similar CIMCPT system based on its original version developed in LTRC. The performance of the Samsung CIMCPT system has been investigated by calibration with the standard CPT system at a well-characterized test site in Pusan, Korea. In addition, scale effect between the miniature cone penetrometer and the standard cone penetrometer has been investigated by comparing the field test results using the both systems.

  • This paper shows the result of study on the detailed applicable procedure of software Escrow account applied for rolling stock. The customer as end-user requires software source code, related critical technical documents etc. about software based system of train for maintenance purpose through software modification and enhancement after completion of warranty period. Otherwise, it is not easy to keep up with the customer's requirement of demanding supplier's exclusive information because it is considered as intellectual property rights of supplier as software developer. Therefore, the main contractor(normally called as Car-builder) need to introduce software Escrow service in order to coordinate the different a standpoint between software developer and end-user. Software Escrow is a legal arrangement in which an software Escrow packages (software source code, software development tool, build process, proprietary information, copyright and etc.) is deposited into and Escrow account under the trust of a reliable third party (Escrow agent) depending on mutual agreement on Escrow contract condition as signing off Escrow agreement document. This paper deals with the study on the detailed procedure about the following general category of Escrow procedure and purpose to apply this specific procedure of Escrow into the future project onward.
