Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the changes of the relative impulse of the foot when carrying 5 types of schoolbag during level walking. Methods: Forty-four normal subjects were divided into 5 groups according to the method of carrying a bag: carrying no bag (condition 1), a backpack (condition 2), a shoulder bag (condition 3), a cross bag (condition 4) and a one-hand bag (condition 5). To evaluate the partial relative impulse, 7 areas were measured on the sole of a foot: the hallux, toe, 1st metatarsal head (Met1) and the 2nd & 3rd metatarsal heads (Met2/3), the 4th & 5th metatarsal heads (Met4/5), mid foot and heel. Repeated one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and independent t-tests were used to analyze the statistical data. Results: In the right foot, the relative impulses in every areas revealed no significant difference (p>0.05), however, the relative impulses at Met1, Met2/3, Met4/5 and heel were significantly different between the different conditions (p<0.05). There were significant differences on comparing the relative impulse between left and right foot within one condition, the mid foot in condition 2, as well as the hallux and Met1 in condition 3 (p<0.05). In condition 4, the toe, Met1, Met4/5 and mid foot were significantly different (p<0.05). The values at the hallux, toe and Met1 in condition 5 also were significantly different (p<0.05). Conclusion: These findings showed that the symmetrical relative impulse of the foot was present in the case of carrying a backpack, but there was an extra load on specific regions and asymmetrical relative impulses in the case of carrying a shoulder bag, a across bag and a one-hand bag. Let $D{\subseteq}E$ be an extension of integral domains with characteristic zero, I be a nonzero proper ideal of D and let H(D, E) and H(D, I) (resp., h(D, E) and h(D, I)) be composite Hurwitz series rings (resp., composite Hurwitz polynomial rings). In this paper, we show that H(D, E) satisfies the ascending chain condition on principal ideals if and only if h(D, E) satisfies the ascending chain condition on principal ideals, if and only if ${\bigcap}_{n{\geq}1}a_1{\cdots}a_nE=(0)$ for each infinite sequence $(a_n)_{n{\geq}1}$ consisting of nonzero nonunits of We also prove that H(D, I) satisfies the ascending chain condition on principal ideals if and only if h(D, I) satisfies the ascending chain condition on principal ideals, if and only if D satisfies the ascending chain condition on principal ideals.
In this paper, the authors investigate the condition number with their condition numbers for weighted Moore-Penrose inverse and weighted least squares solution of min /Ax - b/M, where A is a rank-deficient complex matrix in $C^{m{\times}n} $ and b a vector of length m in $C^m$, x a vector of length n in $C^n$. For the normwise condition number, the sensitivity of the relative condition number itself is studied, the componentwise perturbation is also investigated.

An experimental study has been conducted to investigate the heat/mass transfer characteristics within a square film cooling hole with asymmetric inlet now condition. The asymmetric inlet now condition is achieved by making distances between side walls of the secondary now duct and the film cooling hole different; one side wall is $2D_h$ apart from the center of the film cooling hole, while the other side wall is $1.5D_h$ apart from the center of the film cooling hole. The heat/mass transfer experiments for this study have been performed using a naphthalene sublimation method and the now field has been analyzed by numerical calculation using a commercial code. Swirl now is generated at the inlet region and the heat/mass transfer pattem with the asymmetric inlet now condition is changed significantly from that with the symmetric condition. In the exit region, the effect of mainstream on the inside hole now is reduced with the asymmetric condition. The average heat/mass transfer coefficient is higher than that with the symmetric condition due to the swirl now generated by the asymmetric inlet condition.
In this paper, studies on application cases of machine condition monitoring using oil sensors are reviewed. Owing to rapid industrial advancements, maintenance strategies play a crucial role in reducing the cost of downtime and improving system reliability. Consequently, machine condition monitoring plays an important role in maintaining operation stability and extending the period of usage for various machines. Machine condition monitoring through oil analysis is an effective method for assessing a machine's condition and providing early warnings regarding a machine's breakdown or failure. Among the three prevalent methods, the online analysis method is predominantly employed because this method incorporates oil sensors in real-time and has several advantages (such as prevention of human errors). Wear debris sensors are widely employed for implementing machine condition monitoring through oil sensors. Furthermore, various types of oil sensors are used in different machines and systems. Integrated oil sensors that can measure various oil attributes by incorporating a single sensor are becoming popular. By monitoring wear debris, machine condition monitoring using oil sensors is implemented for engines, automotive transmission, tanks, armored vehicles, and construction equipment. Additionally, such monitoring systems are incorporated in aircrafts such as passenger airplanes, fighter airplanes, and helicopters. Such monitoring systems are also employed in chemical plants and power plants for managing overall safety. Furthermore, widespread application of oil condition diagnosis requires the development of diagnostic programs.

In this paper, we adapt a modified internal energy non-equilibrium first-order extrapolation thermal boundary condition to the thermal lattice Boltzmann model (TLBM). This model is the double populations approach to simulate hydrodynamic and thermal fields. The bounce-back boundary condition which is a traditional boundary condition of lattice Boltzmann method has only a first order in numerical accuracy at the boundary and numerical instability. A non-equilibrium first-order extrapolation boundary condition has been verified to be of better numerical stability than the bounce-back boundary condition and this boundary condition is proved to be of second-order accuracy for the flat boundaries. The two-dimensional natural convection flow in a square cavity with Pr=0.71 and various Rayleigh numbers are simulated. The results are found to be in good agreement with those of previous studies.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of expansion joint spacing (slab size) on the life cycle costs of owning Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) airfield pavements. Previous research has shown that slab size has a statistically significant impact on pavement performance. A probabilistic life cycle cost analysis was performed to determine if the effect of slab size on pavement performance would affect the total cost of ownership of PCC pavements. Data from 48 Pavement Condition Index (PCI) inspections of military and civilian airfields were used to develop probability-of-distress-by-condition curves, which were then used to develop probabilistic cost-of-repair-by-condition curves. A present worth life cycle cost analysis was then performed for various slab sizes, using construction costs, rehabilitation costs, and maintenance costs. Maintenance costs were determined by assuming a condition deterioration rate appropriate for each slab size and applying the cost-by-condition curves. The probabilistic cost-of-repair-by-condition curves indicated that smaller slabs are more expensive to repair on a unit cost basis. Life cycle cost analysis showed that larger slabs have a higher total cost of ownership than smaller slabs due to a faster rate of deterioration.

Non-destructive out-hole tests, impact-echo and impact-response are widely applied to evaluate integrity of drilled shafts. In these tests, vibratory motions of drilled shafts are interpreted, which induced by impacts on the shaft head. In applying the tests to evaluating integrity of shaft, it has been attended whether the tests have resolutions enough to distinguish existence of slime at between the shaft end and a bearing soil deposit. To distinguish existence of slime by tests, modes of shaft vibrations need to be reasonably interpreted, which generally vary according to a shaft boundary condition such as, a free-free or a free-fixed condition. The boundary condition of a shaft is, however, found to be significantly affected by stiffness of soil deposits around shaft as well as penetration depths of shaft into a bearing soil deposit. Thus, these effects on the boundary condition of a shaft should be considered reasonably in interpreting test results to decide the existence of slime. To investigate the effects, in this study, vibratory motions of shafts constructed in various soil conditions and end penetration depths are examined analytically. Based on the studies, variations of boundary condition are characterized in terms of soil stiffness contrast between a shaft perimeter and a shaft end, and also the ratio of a penetration depth to a shaft length. The results can be applied to verify the applicability of tests to identify the slime.
Performance-based remaining life assessment of reinforced concrete bridge girders, subject to chloride-induced corrosion of reinforcement, is addressed in this paper. Towards this, a methodology that takes into consideration the human judgmental aspects in expert decision making regarding condition state assessment is proposed. The condition of the bridge girder is specified by the assignment of a condition state from a set of predefined condition states, considering both serviceability- and ultimate- limit states, and, the performance of the bridge girder is described using performability measure. A non-homogeneous Markov chain is used for modelling the stochastic evolution of condition state of the bridge girder with time. The thinking process of the expert in condition state assessment is modelled within a probabilistic framework using Brunswikian theory and probabilistic mental models. The remaining life is determined as the time over which the performance of the girder is above the required performance level. The usefulness of the methodology is illustrated through the remaining life assessment of a reinforced concrete T-beam bridge girder.
This paper examines a condition that licenses distributivity. Choe (1987) and Link (1998) have proposed an indefiniteness condition on distributivity. However, detecting counter-examples, Zimmermann (2002) has argued for a non-specificity condition. This paper primarily revises the indefiniteness/non-specificity condition. Observing that the systematic class of the exceptions belongs to weak definites proposed by Poesio (1994), I claim that the property that constrains distributivity is non-strong-definiteness. Based on Landman (2000), I further explain the non-strong-definiteness condition and argue that the condition does not need to be imposed on the grammar independently. The new condition naturally accounts for Spector's (2003) scopal asymmetry. Even more, defining donkey pronouns as weak definites, I cope with various properties of donkey sentences.
