In this study, the beam which is repaired as high toughness cementitious composites evaluated on flexural performance. As for the test results, it was found that high toughness performance of beams of the repair as high toughness cementitious composites showed more better than the existing repair method and demonstrated about 95% semi-reinforcement to compare with reinforcement of carbon fiber sheets of one layer without interface and brittle failure. Therefore, appling on using PVA fiber reinforced high toughness cementitious composites, the repaired concrete structures can be increased to flexural performance.
High quality and expedient processing repair methods are necessary to enhance the service life of bridge structures. Deterioration of concrete can occur as a result of structural cracks, corrosion of reinforcement, and freeze.thaw cycles. Cost effective methods with potential for field implementation are necessary to address the issue of the vulnerability of bridge structures and how to repair them. Most infrastructure related applications of fiber-reinforced plastics (FRPs) use traditional hand lay-up technology. The hand lay-up is tedious, labor-intensive and relies upon personnel skill level. An alternative to traditional hand lay-up of FRP for infrastructure applications is Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding (VARTM). VARTM uses single sided molding technology to infuse resin over fabrics wrapping large structures, such as bridge girders and columns. There is no work currently available in understanding the interface developed, when VARTM processing is adopted to wrap fibers such as carbon and/or glass over concrete structures. This paper investigates the interface formed by carbon fiber processed on to a concrete surface using the VARTM technique. Various surface treatments, including sandblasting, were performed to study the pull-off tensile test to find a potential prepared surface. A single-lap shear test was used to study the bond strength of CFRP fabric/epoxy composite adhered to concrete. Carbon fiber wraps incorporating Sikadur HEX 103C and low viscosity epoxy resin Sikadur 300 were considered in VARTM processing of concrete specimens.

This paper presents an evaluation of shear transfer across cracks in reinforced concrete through finite element modelling (FEM) and analytical predictions. The aggregate interlock is one of the mechanisms responsible for the shear transfer between two slip surfaces of a crack; the others are the dowel action, when the reinforcement contributes resisting a parcel of shear displacement (reinforcement), and the uncracked concrete comprised by the shear resistance until the development of the first crack. The aim of this study deals with the development of a 3D numerical model, which describes the behavior of Z-type push-off specimen, in order to determine the properties of interface subjected to direct shear in terms cohesion and friction angle. The numerical model was validated based on experimental data and a parametric study was performed with the variation of the concrete strength. The numerical results were compared with analytical predictions and a new equation was proposed to predict the maximum shear stress in cracked concrete.
A new type of retrof=t anchor bolt that uses deformed reinforcing bars and a commercial adhesive was developed and then an experimental study was carried out to determine the behavior of the anchors in direct shear. The steel-to-concl몫ete interface was tested. Plain concrete slabs with about 20-MPa compressive strength were used for 23 direct shear tests performed Test variables were anchor diameters (D16, D22. and D29) and edge effect. Three different shear tests were completed: simple shear, edge shear where anchors were pulled against the concrete core, and edge shear where anchors were pushed against the concrete cover In the simple and the edge shear tests where the anchors were pulled against the core, the theoretical dowel strength determined by (equation omitted) was achieved but with relatively large displacements. The shear resistances increased with the increasing displacements. In the edge shear test where the anchors were pushrd against the cover, the peak shear strengths signif=cantly lower than the theoretical dowel strength were determined due to cracks developed in concrete when the edge distance was 80 mm. The peak strengths were about 50% of the dowel strength for Dl6 bar. and about 25% or less of the dowel strength for D22 and D29 bars. Test results revealed that the edge shear where the anchor was pushed against the cover controled.
The stud shear connector is the main force transfer member in the steel-concrete composite member, and the mechanical behavior is very complicated in the concrete. The concrete around the stud is subjected to the pry-out local pressure concentration of the stud, which can easily produce splitting mirco-cracks. In order to solve the problem of pry-out local splitting of stud shear connector, a kind of stud shear connector with constraint measure is proposed in this paper. Through the push-out test, the interface shear behavior of the new stud shear connector between steel and concrete flange plate was studied, and the difference between the new stud shear connector and the traditional stud connector was compared. The results show that the stud shear connector with constraint measure can effectively avoid the adverse effect of local pressure splitting by relying on its own constraint measure. The shear stiffness of the interface between steel and concrete flange plates is greatly improved, which provides a theoretical basis for the design of strong connection coefficient of steel-concrete composite structures.
Half-P.C. slab system is the composite structural system which utilizes precast concrete for lower portion and cast in situ concrete for upper portion slab. When the composite slab using Half P.C. slab is deformed by flexural moment, horizontal shear happened at the interface between Half P.C. slab and topping concrete. To resist horizontal shear strength a scratch method has tried. To determine ultimate interface shear strength, shear stress, and shear coefficient, high and normal strength concrete are used for topping concrete. Major variables are compressive strength of topping concrete with or without shear reinforcement, quantitative roughness of the P.C. :surface and tie or untie of the stud with welded deformed wire fabric in the P.C. member. The Icross sectional area on joints is 3,200 $cm^2$ in all specimens. Test results showed that shear stress increased, as the depth of the quantitative roughness increased. The horizontal shear strength could be resisted with safe by the quantitative roughness without shear tie. A shear coefficient determinant equation is proposed such that K = 0.025918 + 0.0068894$\cdot$R – 0.000182354${\cdot}R^2$
This paper presents the failure mode and strengthening design of reinforced concrete slab strengthened with Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer(CFRP) grid. Parameters involved in this experimental study are FRP grid reinforcement quantity, repair mortar thickness, the presence of anchor, and strengthening in compression. In this study, there are different failure types with increasing the CFRP grid strengthening reinforcement. On the low strengthening level, CFRP grid in repair mortar cover ruptures. On the moderate strengthening level, there is a debonding shear failure in the interface of carbon FRP grid because of the excessive shear deformation. On the high strengthening level, diagonal shear failure occurs. With the increasing of FRP grid reinforcement, the strengthening effect increased, but the ductility decreased. By limiting the strengthening level, it can be achieved to prevent shear failure which result in sudden loss in the resisting load capacity. CFRP rupture failure is desirable, because CFRP ruptured concrete slab keeps the same load capacity and ductility haying before strengthening even after failure. Finally, design guideline and procedure are given for strengthening of concrete slab with CFRP grid.
This paper presents the behavior and strengthening effect of reinforced concrete rectangular beams strengthened using CFRP sheets with different strengthening level. In general, normally strengthened beams are failed by interfacial shear failure (delamination) within concrete, instead of by tensile failure of the CFRP sheets. The delamination occurred suddenly and the concrete cover cracked vertically by flexure was spalled off due to the release energy. The strengthened beams were stiffer than the control beam before and after reinforcement yielding. The ultimate load considerably increased with an increase of strengthening level, while the ultimate deflection significantly decreased. The tensile force of CFRP sheets and average shear stress of concrete at delamination failure were curvilinearly proportional to the strengthening level. Therefore, the increment of ultimate load obtained by strengthening was curvilinearly proportional to the strengthening level. The averaged horizontal shear stress of concrete at the interface ranges between (equation omitted) and (equation omitted) (in kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$) depending on strengthening level.

This paper describes the varying material model, the analysis method and the software development for reinforced concrete circular columns confined by spiral or hoop transverse steel reinforcement and subjected to eccentric loading. The widely used Mander model of concentric loading is adapted here to eccentric loading by developing an auto-adjustable stress-strain curve based on the eccentricity of the axial load or the size of the compression zone to generate more accurate interaction diagrams. The prediction of the ultimate unconfined capacity is straight forward. On the other hand, the prediction of the actual ultimate capacity of confined concrete columns requires specialized nonlinear analysis. This nonlinear procedure is programmed using C-Sharp to build efficient software that can be used for design, analysis, extreme event evaluation and forensic engineering. The software is equipped with an elegant graphics interface that assimilates input data, detail drawings, capacity diagrams and demand point mapping in a single sheet. Options for preliminary design, section and reinforcement selection are seamlessly integrated as well. Improvements to KDOT Bridge Design Manual using this software with reference to AASHTO LRFD are made.

Recently FRP (Fiber Reinforcement Polymer) is widely used for the strengthening of damaged RC beams. Although many tests were carried out to verify flexural capacity of RC beams strengthened with FRP sheet or plate, the behavior of strengthened RC beams has not yet clearly verified. To investigate the strengthening efficiency of the Near Surface Mounted Reinforcement (NSMR) technique experimentally and analytically, a total of 7 specimens have been tested. The experimental results revealed that specimens strengthened with NSMR improved the flexural capacity of RC beams. Also, while the NSMR specimens utilized CFRP reinforcement efficiently compared to the EBR (Externally Bonded Reinforcement) specimen, the NSMR specimens still have debonding failure between epoxy and concrete interface. This study has proposed the model to predict failure modes and failure loads. Good agreement was obtained between the predicted and the experimental results.
