투수성 포장재의 우수 표면유출 저감 효과 (The Effect of Pervious Pavement on Reducing the Surface Runoff)

  • The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effect of pervious pavements on reducing the surface runoff caused by rainfall. The surface runoff from twelve steel experimental beds with different pavement had been recorded every minute from May to September 2008, by the measuring system of tipping buckets(0.1mm/count) and data aquisition systems(National Instrument's Labview and DAQ boards & Autonics PR12-4). The dimension of the experimental bed was $1.5m(W){\times}2.0m(L){\times}0.6m(D)$ and eleven different kinds of vegetational(grass, grass+cubic stone, grass+hole brick), modular(brick, cubic stone, small cubic stone, wood block, interlocking block, clay brick, granular clay brick) and granular(naked soil, gravel) paving materials and concrete were applied for the comparison. Six rain events with depth over 30mm were selected and compared. The maximum depth of the rainfall selected was 137.5mm for 28 hours, and the minimum 30mm for 5 hours. The maximum rainfall per hour was 23mm/hr and the minimum 11.4mm/hr. The major findings were as follows; 1. All pervious pavement applied reduced over 75% of the surface runoff compared with concrete pavement. The grassy and porous pavements were relatively efficient in reducing surface runoff. 2. The grass was the more efficient as intercepting average 69.5mm of initial surface runoff, and maximum 77.8mm at the condition of 13.5mm/hr rainfall. The next was gravel intercepting maximum 65.5mm at the condition of 13.5mm/hr and the 40.9mm at 19.1mm/hr, average 55.7mm. 3. The modular pavements common in urban area were not good in intercepting the runoff except the 'clay granular brick' compared with others. The 'clay granular brick' showed relatively efficient intercepting average 14.1mm, which was the bigger amount than the 'grass+hole brick'. 4. The 'naked soil' were more effective than the 'concrete', 'brick', and 'interlocking block' in reducing the surface runoff, but less efficient than other materials. The capacity of the 'naked soil' to intercept the initial rainfall was similar to the 'brick'. As summary, the more grassy and porous pavement shows more effective in reducing surface runoffs.

FWD 처짐곡선을 이용한 아스팔트 포장구조체의 탄성계수 추정 모형 개발 (Development of a Model for Predicting Modulus on Asphalt Pavements Using FWD Deflection Basins)

  • 본 연구에서는 비파괴 시험 장비인 FWD(Falling Weight Deflectometer)에 의한 처짐곡선을 활용하여 아스팔트 포장구조체의 물성을 합리적으로 추정할 수 있는 방법을 개발하였다. 2004년 국도 PMS(Pavement Management System)의 FWD 자료로 다층탄성이론에 근거한 역산프로그램을 사용하여 역해석을 실시하였다. 3층 포장구조체로 기반암을 고려하여 역해석을 실시하였으며, 통계분석을 통하여 각 층 탄성계수의 95% 신뢰구간을 선정하였다. 이 신뢰구간의 범위와 기존 문헌상의 범위를 비교한 결과 차이가 없었으며, 그 결과를 바탕으로 회귀분석을 실시하여 탄성계수를 직접 추정할 수 있는 회귀 분석 모델을 제시하였다. 회귀 분석모델의 적합성 및 유의성 검증, 다중공선성 분석, 잔차 분석 그리고 분산 분석을 통하여 본 연구에서 제시한 회귀 분석모델이 유의하며 높은 적합성을 갖고 있음을 증명하였다. 따라서, 본 연구에서 제시한 회귀 분석 모델을 통해 FWD 시험시 현장에서 역해석을 실시하지 않고도 직접 탄성계수를 추정하여 포장구조체의 상태평가를 할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 또한, 아스팔트층의 탄성계수는 온도변화에 따라 많은 차이를 나타내므로 기준온도로 온도보정을 실시하였으며 그 결과를 토대로 현재 공용중인 국도 아스팔트 포장구조체 각 층의 탄성계수와 95%신뢰구간의 탄성계수를 제시하였다.

단순회귀분석에 의한 배수성 아스팔트의 투수계수 산정모델 제안 (Proposal for the Estimation of the Hydraulic Conductivity of Porous Asphalt Concrete Pavement using Regression Analysis)

  • PURPOSES : This study is to construct the regression models of drainage asphalt concrete specimens and to provide the appropriate coefficients of hydraulic conductivity prediction models. METHODS: In terms of easy calculation of the hydraulic conductivity from porosity of asphalt concrete pavement, the estimation model of hydraulic conductivity was proposed using regression analysis. 10 specimens of drainage asphalt concrete pavement were made for measurement of the hydraulic conductivity. Hydraulic conductivity model proposed in this study was calculated by empirical model based on porosity and the grain size. In this study, it shows the compared results from permeability measured test and empirical equation, and the suitability of proposed model, using regression analysis. RESULTS: As the result of the regression analysis, the hydraulic conductivity calculated from the proposal model was similar to that resulted from permeability measured test. Also result of RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) analysis, a proposed regression model is resulted in more accurate model. CONCLUSIONS: The proposed model can be used in case of estimating the hydraulic conductivity at drainage asphalt concrete pavements in fields.

Experimental and numerical simulation study on fracture properties of self-compacting rubberized concrete slabs

  • The limited availability of raw materials and increasing service demands for pavements pose a unique challenge in terms of pavement design and concrete material selection. The self-compacting rubberized concrete (SCRC) can be used in pavement design. The SCRC pavement slab has advantages of excellent toughness, anti-fatigue and convenient construction. On the premise of satisfying the strength, the SCRC can increase the ductility of pavement slab. The aim of this investigation is proposing a new method to predict the crack growth and flexural capacity of large-scale SCRC slabs. The mechanical properties of SCRC are obtained from experiments on small-scale SCRC specimens. With the increasing of the specimen depth, the bearing capacity of SCRC beams decreases at the same initial crack-depth ratio. By constructing extended finite element method (XFEM) models, crack growth and flexural capacity of large-scale SCRC slabs with different fracture types and force conditions can be predicted. Considering the diversity of fracture types and force conditions of the concrete pavement slab, the corresponding test was used to verify the reliability of the prediction model. The crack growth and flexural capacity of SCRC slabs can be obtained from XFEM models. It is convenient to conduct the experiment and can save cost.

유한 요소법에 의한 콘크리트 포장도로의 구조해석 프로그램개발 (Development of Finite Element Analysis Program for the Concrete Pavement)

  • 근세 사회의 눈부신 산업발전과 함께 늘어나는 빈번한 차량 하중을 좀더 합리적으로 충분히 노반에 분산시키기 위하여 콘크리트포장이 근래 널리 이용 되어져 왔다. 아스팔트계 포장의 표층이 휨응력에 저항하지 못하고 하중을 받으면 표층의 변형이 그대로 노반에 전달되어 일체로되어 변형을 하지만 콘크리트 포장은 콘크리트 슬래브가 구조체로서의 높은 휨강도와 큰 탄성계수에 의해 휨응력 및 전단력에도 저항을 하게 되므로 차량하중뿐만 아니라 주기적인 온도 변화에 의한 팽창, 수축, 솟음, 노상 노반의 체적변화등에 의한 복잡한 응력을 받게된다. 이러한 콘크리트 포장구조의 제응력 현상을 구조 역학적인 입장에서 좀더 정확하게 합리적으로 해석을 하기위해 유한요소법을 이용한 컴퓨터 구조해석 프로그램을 개발하여 모든 하중 조건하에서의 슬래브 처짐과 응력을 계산하고 예상하므로써 콘크리트 포장구조의 파괴현상을 연구하고 합리적인 설계자료를 제공하고자 한다.

Life cycle analysis of concrete and asphalt used in road pavements

  • The article examines the impact differences between producing concrete and asphalt. Both materials are widely used in the construction industry. Construction activities account for a large portion of greenhouse gases. Therefore, it is important to consider the Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) to reduce environmental impacts. In this study, the material processes were inputted into an LCA program called SimaPro. The database used for the study was Ecoinvent as it is one of the major databases within SimaPro. The materials were compared against impacts per kg of material produced as the functional unit. Each process was created using the materials, energy and transportation required to produce the materials. Waste streams were also included in the process to determine the impacts after the product was done with its useful life. Using the ReCiPe method, an LCA was conducted. Midpoint and endpoint categories were examined for both the productions. The processes had similar results for the human health and ecosystems categories; however asphalt was marginally higher for both. Asphalt had exceeded concrete in the resource impact category by 100 mPt. The results indicate that concrete is the more sustainable building material. Determination of various impacts of the materials is important for material selection.

줄눈콘크리트포장의 하중응력분포 해석 (Stress Distribution Analysis of Jointed Concrete Pavements)

  • This study focused on the development of an alternative stress estimation procedure to instantly calculate the critical stresses bonded concrete pavement. Closed form analysis is commonly used to analyze pavement structures. This type of analysis assumes linearelastic material properties and static loading conditions. The well-known ILLI-SLAB finite element program was used for the analysis. Bonded concrete overlay analyzed the stress distribution, behavior and load carrying capacity under track load is made evaluation standard of bonded concrete overlay. In the study, the following results were derived ; The properties of strength is that compress and 3-point bending strength of existing pavement is deteriorated with $184kg/cm^2$, $59kg/cm^2$ but compress and splitting tensile strength of overlay is satisfied with $465kg/cm^2$, $45kg/cm^2$. Load transfers is happen at adjacent slab by interlocking under track load. The stress distribution under interior, corner and edge load is described high loading position surrounding then loading position.

강상판형교 교면포장 공법 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on Pavement Techniques for Steel Bridge Decks)

  • 본 연구의 주 목적은 교면포장 공법 중에서 인천대교에 사용된 구스 아스팔트와 귤현 대교에 사용된 SMA의 적용 사례를 통하여 발전된 교면포장 공법을 제시하는데 있다. 두 공법의 시공사례를 비교 분석한 결과, 구스 아스팔트는 고온에서의 유동저항성이 작아 소성변형에 취약하며, 이에 반하여 SMA포장은 유지관리에 용이하고 소성변형 등에 유리하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 강상판 교면포장 공법이 발달된 선진국에서는 보편화되어서, 그에 따른 국내에서의 해결방안을 제시하였다. 그러나, 국내의 경우 다양한 시공 실적이 미흡한 실정이어서 향후 적절한 시공관리와 체계적인 연구를 통하여 보다 발전된 교면 포장공법이 제시되어져야 할 것으로 사료된다.

투수 콘크리트 블록 공극률 및 투수계수 평가를 위한 표면 이미지 분석 기법 개발 (Surface Image Analysis for Evaluating Porosity and Permeability Coefficient of Permeable Concrete Block)

  • The increase of impermeable area ratio is causing hydrologic cycle problems in urban areas and groundwater depletion in rural areas, permeable pavements are getting attention to expand permeable areas. The performance of the permeable concrete block pavement, which is part of the permeable pavement, is greatly affected by the porosity. In addition, the permeability coefficient is a major factor when designing permeable concrete block pavement. Existing porosity and permeability test methods have problems such as uneconomical or poor field applicability. The object of this study was to develop a methodology for evaluating porosity and permeability coefficient using a surface image of a permeable concrete block. Specimens are manufactured with various porosity ranges and porosity and permeability tests are performed. After surface image preprocessing, normalization and binarization methods were compared. Through this, the method with the highest correlation with the lab test result was determined. From the results, the PDR (pore determined ratio) was obtained. Simple linear regression analysis is performed with PDR and lab test results. The results showed a high correlation of R2 more than 0.8, and the errors were also low.
