온톨로지를 이용한 이산 사건 시뮬레이션의 개념적 모델 구축 지원에 관한 연구 (Ontology-based Conceptual Model Building Framework for Discrete Event Simulation)

  • Conceptual Modeling is the process of abstracting a model from a real or proposed system. It is probably the most important aspect of a simulation study. Relate works show that the elementary developers devoted little time to understanding how the systems actually worked, namely they didn't build appropriate conceptual model. Thus, the result of simulation is inconsistent because it depends on developer's competence. Although many researchers suggested various techniques enabling developer to build conceptual model, there were several limitations. In this study, to overcome the limitations of existing techniques, we proposed COMBINE-DES (COnceptual Model BuildINg framEwork using ontology for Discrete Event Simulation). The COM-BINE-DES supports expediting the conceptual modeling with Solution ontology generated by Domain ontology and Simulation ontology. Moreover, it provides consistent simulation result regardless of repeated modeling.

시뮬레이터와 표준화 환자를 이용한 간호 시뮬레이션 교육의 이론적 기틀 개발 (Development of a Conceptual Framework for Nursing Simulation Education Utilizing Human Patient Simulators and Standardized Patients)

  • Purpose: Incorporating simulation modalities into nursing education is known to be effective in enhancing education outcomes. Standardizing the nomenclature of simulation modalities and developing a comprehensive conceptual framework for guiding the development of simulation modules are mandated given the prevalence and disorganization of simulation education. This article, thus, was aimed to summarize literature and propose a conceptual framework for structuralizing simulation education in Korea. Methods: A comprehensive literature review on CINAHL, PubMed, RISS, KISS, DBpia and renowned Korean nursing journals was conducted including articles from 2002 to 2011. Results: The nomenclature of simulation modalities was clarified and summarized. Twenty-eight studies on the effects of simulation education were summarized in a table demonstrating the state of the science in simulation research. In addition, 'a conceptual framework for three-dimensional nursing simulation education' was proposed, described in detail, and diagramed. According to 'the 3D simulation framework', each three axes, i.e., the scope of practice, complexity, and student competency, has three phases in accomplishing a high level of competency. Conclusion: The proposed '3D simulation framework' is hoped to be a theoretical guide in designing a clinical curriculum utilizing simulation and developing detailed simulation modules in clinical practicum courses.

Design space exploration in aircraft conceptual design phase based on system-of-systems simulation

  • Design space exploration has been much neglected in aircraft conceptual design phase, which often leads to a waste of time and cost in design, manufacture and operation process. It is necessary to explore design space based on operational system-of-systems (SoS) simulation during the early phase for a competitive design. This paper proposes a methodology to analyze aircraft performance parameters in four steps: combination of parameters, object analysis, operational simulation, and key-parameters analysis. Meanwhile, the design space of an unmanned aerial vehicle applied in earthquake search and rescue SoS is explored based on this methodology. The results show that applying SoS simulation into design phase has important reference value for designers on aircraft conceptual design.

개념 모델을 이용한 Arena 시뮬레이션 모델 자동 생성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Automated Generation of Arena Simulation Models Using Conceptual Models)

  • 일반적으로 시뮬레이션 프로젝트는 목적에 부합되는 수준에서 연구 대상 시스템과 유사하게 작동되는 모델을 개발해야 하기 때문에 시간과 비용이 많이 소요된다. 따라서 적절한 개념 모델 설계와 이를 바탕으로 시뮬레이션 모델을 자동 생성하여 모델 개발 과정의 시행착오를 최소화함으로써 모델링 시간을 단축하기 위한 연구가 요구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 실무에서 많이 사용되고 있는 Microsoft Excel과 Visio를 활용하여 개념 모델을 개발하고 이를 Arena 모델로 자동으로 변환하는 툴을 제안하였다. 예제를 이용하여 본 논문의 모델 자동 생성 툴의 효용성을 보였다.

계절의 변화 원인에 대한 설명에서 나타난 초등학생의 개념 시뮬레이션 사례 연구 (A case study on the conceptual simulation observed in explanation of elementary school students about the causes of the seasonal change)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 계절의 변화 원인을 설명하는 과정에서 초등학생들의 개념 시뮬레이션을 분석함으로써 학생들이 어떻게 계절의 변화 원인에 대한 설명을 어떻게 생성하고 있는지를 알아보고, 계절의 변화와 관련된 교육에 시사점을 주는 데 있다. 이를 위해 문헌 연구를 기반으로 개념 시뮬레이션 과정 및 전략 분석틀을 개발하였으며, 과학교육 전문가 4인의 내용타당도를 확인 받았다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 계절의 변화 원인 설명 과정에서 초등학생들은 주로 과학수업에서 모형 실험을 통해 학습한 지각적 경험을 이용하여 설명을 만들고 있었으며, 친숙한 대상을 이용하여 사고실험 사례를 고안하거나, 친숙한 지각적 경험을 유추하여 설명을 확고히 하는 것을 돕고 있었다. 둘째, 개념 시뮬레이션 사례의 실수는 초기표상의 진술, 심상 시뮬레이션의 실행 과정에서 나타났으며, 참여자들의 초기표상 진술이 불완전하거나, 심상 시뮬레이션 실행에서 부적절한 상황을 떠올린 경우였다. 셋째, 초등학생들의 개념 시뮬레이션 과정에서 남중고도의 개념과 관련된 정신모델을 확고히 하기 위해 제거, 대체의 시뮬레이션 전략을 사용하는 것을 확인하였다.

Conceptual Object Grouping for Multimedia Document Management

  • Increase of multimedia information in Web requires a new method to manage and service multimedia documents efficiently. This paper proposes a conceptual object grouping method by fuzzy filtering, which is automatically constituted based on increase of multimedia documents. The proposed method composes subsumption relations between conceptual objects automatically using fuzzy filtering of the document objects that are extracted from domains. Grouping of such conceptual objects is regarded as subsumption relation which is decided by $\mu$-cut. This paper proposes $\mu$-cut, FAS(Fuzzy Average Similarity) and DSR(Direct Subsumption Relation) to decide fuzzy filtering, which groups related document objects easily. This paper used about 1,000 conceptual objects in the performance test of the proposed method. The simulation result showed that the proposed method had better retrieval performance than those for OGM(Optimistic Genealogy Method) and BGM(Balanced Genealogy Method).

Simulation Game-Based Learning for Middle School Students' Academic Emotions and Learning Achievement

  • This study examined the effects of simulation game-based learning on academic emotions (positive, negative) and achievement (factual, conceptual, procedural knowledge acquisition). Sixty-three students from a high school located in South Korea were chosen for the study. The students were assigned to either an experimental group for simulation game-based learning or a comparison group for instructor-led lectures. The results demonstrated that there was a significant difference between the comparison and experimental groups in both positive and negative academic emotions. However, there was no significant difference in factual, conceptual and procedural knowledge acquisition. The results indicate that simulation game-based learning generates more positive emotions than instructor-led lectures.

조립 및 기구학 구속 조건, 공차를 포함하는 기계 조립체의 개념적 정보 모델 (A Conceptual Information Model of Mechanical Assemblies Incorporating Assembly and Kinematic Constraints, and Tolerances)

  • This paper proposes an object-oriented conceptual information model of mechanical assemblies, named open assembly model (OAM). The proposed assembly model primarily defines hierarchical relationships between parts and subassemblies. Together with the assembly hierarchy. the model also provides a way to represent tolerances, kinematic information, and parametric assembly constraints. Relational information such as mating conditions and degree of freedom between parts and subassemblies is captured via assembly features and relationships thereof. The information model is described using class diagrams of the Unified Modeling Language (UML), and instance diagrams are used to exemplify the proposed information model. The conceptual model presented in this paper is an integrated information model for assembly representation, which could supply necessary information for tolerance analysis and synthesis, kinematic simulation, and assembly simulation. Such a conceptual information model plays an important role for the exchange of information between modeling, analysis and planning systems. Hence, the proposed model could serve as a framework for developing data exchange standards of mechanical assemblies. The proposed model is demonstrated through a case study of a planetary gear assembly.

국방 Modeling & Simulation에서 임무공간 개념모델링을 위한 온톨로지 적용방안 (An Ontological Approach for Conceptual Modeling of Mission Space in Military Modeling & Simulation)

  • 본 논문은 온톨로지 기반의 임무공간 개념 모델링 체계인 한국형 임무공간 개념모델 (CMMSK:The Conceptual Models of the Mission Space-Korea)을 제안한다. 모델링과 시뮬레이션을 이용하면 실제 군사 훈련을 실행할 때 발생하는 시간, 공간 그리고 경제적인 비용을 크게 줄일 수 있다. CMMS-K는 국방 모델과 시뮬레이션의 상호운용성과 재사용성을 향상시키기 위해 개발되고 있다. CMMS-K의 구조는 한국 국방 환경을 기반으로 기존 국방 개념 모델링 체계를 참조하여 생성되었다. CMMS-K의 주요 구성요소는 도메인 온톨로지, 임무공간 모델 기술 언어, 임무공간 모델링 도구, 그리고 CMMS-K 관리 시스템이다. CMMS-K 도메인 온톨로지는 개체 및 과제 온톨로지로 구성된다. 본 논문은 CMMS-K 도메인 온톨로지에 대해서 자세히 기술하고 제안된 방법의 적용 가능성을 예제를 이용하여 평가한다.

Understanding Driver Compliance Behaviour at Signalised Intersection for Developing Conceptual Model of Driving Simulation

  • A conceptual model represents an understanding of a system that is going to be developed, which in this research, a driving simulation software to study driver behavior at signalised intersections. Therefore, video observation was conducted to study driver compliance behaviour within the dilemma zone at signalised intersection, with regards to driver's distance from the stop line during yellow light interval. The video was analysed using Thematic Analysis and the data extracted from it was analysed using Chi-Square Independent Test. The Thematic Analysis revealed two major themes which were traffic situation and driver compliance behaviour. Traffic situation is defined as traffic surrounding the driver, such as no car in front and behind, car in front, and car behind. Meanwhile, the Chi-Square Test result indicates that within the dilemma zone, there was a significant relationship between driver compliance behaviour and driver's distance from the stop line during yellow light interval. The closer the drivers were to the stop line, the more likely they were going to comply. In contrast, drivers showed higher non-compliant behavior when further away from stop line. This finding could help in the development of conceptual model of driving simulation with purpose in studying driver behavior.
