Recently, new concept and paradigm of 'Environmental Sustainability' is taking a growing interest in environmental planning and design. This study is to establish the environmental sustainability principles, based on the concept of ESSD, and to develop the evaluation model of environmental sustainability for korean rural housing estates. A sustainability indices system, which is composed of 5 principles, 16 categories, an 37 estimation items, was finally established. Five principles of environmental sustainability for rural housing estate were. 'Sustainable Land Use', 'Interdependence of Men and Nature', 'Ecological Principles and Diversity', 'Efficient use of Energy and Recycling', and ' Minimizing Environmental Pollution'. And weighting values of each indicators, such as estimation items, categories, and principles, were estimated, based on the result of AHP etc. The questinnaire survey was conducted for experts of four related major fields. Finally, the validity and reliability of the sustainability indices system were verified.

경제, 사회, 생태의 조화를 추구하는 지속가능한 발전은 21세기에 마케팅의 중요한 도전과제 중의 하나라 할 수 있다. 사회 및 생태적 관점의 통합을 통해 마케팅은 범세계적으로 대두되는 환경과 개발을 위한 패러다임으로서 지속가능한 발전 의제에 크게 기여할 수 있으리라 기대한다. 본 논문은 국제기업환경 변화의 패러다임으로 등장한 지속가능한 발전의 의미와 마케팅 영역에 제시되는 과제로서 지속가능마케팅컨셉의 의사결정 지향적 접근을 시도한다. 본 논문에서는 지속가능마케팅의 의사결정 지향적 컨셉을 여섯단계로 체계화하며, 생태 및 사회적 문제들의 분석, 고객욕구의 분석, 규범적 지속가능마케팅, 전략적 지속가능마케팅, 운영적 지속가능마케팅 그리고 변환적 지속가능마케팅으로 구분하여 고찰한다.

Modern enterprise activity and consuming pattern which have been continued since the industrial revolution are causing a great burden on the environment, so that the strategy for sustainability in the whole industry cannot but be realistic and inevitable alternative. Presently various brands which applied the concept of sustainability exist, however they also can be said to play a part in current environmental damage by creating value aiming at only growth and pursuing short-term profit in accordance with it with simple commercial logic. Hereupon, this research aimed at eventually preparing the base of guidelines of sustainable design of space branding by newly drawing the value of sustainability in the aspect of space branding and systematically deducing design elements along with it. For this, the researcher reestablished value and design elements for sustainability in space branding by comprehending the concept of sustainability, design method of sustainable design and environmental value hidden in it, after comprehending the concept of space branding and brand value suggestion and interrelation through advanced researches. The previous studies related to the existing space branding have had mainly focused on the design of the marketing point of view to promote consumer culture. But this study can be found the meaning that new roles and methods of design in space branding from the perspective of sustainable. Now companies need to figure out a variety of strategic ways to find the right balance depending on their situation between contradictory concept of 'Consumption' and 'Sustainability'.

Sustainability is commonly recognized as one of the new paradigms or norms that will reign the new era after the modern age of revolutionary economic development. This global trend calls for the adoption of the sustainability concept to soil and groundwater management. In fact, there are several such ongoing movements in practicing soil and groundwater management. Through literature review, this paper discusses the concept, practices, and future research needs of sustainable soil and groundwater management. We first discuss the definition of sustainable soil and groundwater management and possible methodologies to gauge or improve the sustainability of soil and groundwater management. Then, we introduce the research topics, exemplary practices, and propose solutions to elaborate sustainability in three representative subfields including soil and groundwater remediation, groundwater management, and soil management. We conclude with suggestions on the future research directions for successful adoption of sustainability concept to soil and groundwater management in the Republic of Korea.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the sustainable characteristics of London city hall designed by Norman Foster. The most important part of sustainable architecture might be the energy reduction including minimizing CO$_2$ emission but social and economical aspects of sustainability should not be neglected. London City Hall as a successful example of sustainable architecture depends its success on the harmony of social, environmental and economical aspects of sustainability. Social sustainability in London City Hall appears on appropriateness and public good in the facility. London City Hall act as a symbol of redevelopment and civic community. Environmental sustainability of London City Hall summarized as using unique building form, double skin and underground water cooling system for the purpose of energy saving. Computer modeling technology was introduced to save construction cost for economic aspect of sustainability. Rational configuration of mechanical system strengthen the durability of facility. In case of London City Hall, the function of building, site condition and architectural concept fulfill the every aspects of sustainability in architecture. Besides these conditions, Foster applied sustainability to London City Hall as active and concrete design concept to complete its design goals.

이 논문은 지속가능한 발전(또는 개발)에서 지속가능성 개념을 생태윤리적인 측면에서 지속가능성이 가지는 의미를 분석해보고, 생태윤리에서 지속가능성의 특징을 제시하고 있다. 생태적 지속가능성에 대한 논의에서 우선 지속성과 변화를 대립의 관계로 보는 것이 아니라 서로 중첩될 수 있는 관계로 보아야 하며, 생태적 지속성에서 '생태적'의 의미는 관계성으로 이해되어야 한다. 지속성이란 변화하는 어떤 것과 그것의 변화하지 않는 것과의 관계로 규정된다고 하겠다. 그리고 생태적 지속가능성이란 변화하는 생태계를 구성하는 존재(혹은 존재자들의 관계)와 그것의 변화하지 않는 생태계 존재 전체(내지 총체적 관계)의 관계라고 정의 내려져야 한다. 따라서 생태적 지속가능성에서는 인간과 생태계라는 두 축의 관점에서 상호의존성(network), 지속성(sustainablity), 책임성(responsibility)의 3 요소, 즉 인간과 자연의 상호의존, 생태적 관계의 지속, 그리고 이에 대한 인간의 책임이 중요하다. 그리고 생태적 지속가능성의 의미에서 존재와 존재관계의 지속, 변화하는 지속가능성, 존재의 비존재에 대한 우위, 생명들 간의 연대성에 의거한 상호의존성이 중시되어야 할 가치가 된다.

The purpose of this study was to provide basic information about the study of model development of sustainable housing area. So, this study identified the concept of sustainable development and condition after investigation Habitat Agenda II, and the 10 items of agenda were used to constitute the case study framework. This study found the development characteristics through the case study of 6 sustainable housing areas in the world(US, UK and Australia), and searched the missing point in the sustainable development concept. The major findings are summarized as follows: First, the attempt of environmental sustainability was restrictive such as minimal environment pollution and waste, water resource protection and conservation of nature ecosystem. Second, in social-culture sustainability, the effort of right to housing, solution of urban squatter and housing welfare eliminated. Third, in economic sustainability, the attempt of prevent natural disaster, technological and industrial disaster excluded.

This paper is intended to measure sectoral sustainabilities and inter-industry linkage effects of natural capital depletion of the Korean industries, and to analyze sources of their change over time using the familiar input-output model. The sustainability indicator that we are measuring in this paper is based on the so-called genuine saving concept proposed by the World Bank(1997). We accommodated the concept in the extended analytical framework of Proops et al.(1999) to analyze sectoral sustainabilities of the Korean industries. We decomposed sectoral sustainabilities so measured into their composing factors based on the decomposition method devised by Chung & Rhee (2001). According to our analysis, overall sustainability of the Korean industries has been declined since 1995. In heavy and chemical, transportation, and electricity sectors, their sustainabilities has been gotten worse. Among four major factors influencing the sustainability, change in GDP was the most important followed by changes in savings, industrial structures, and demand patterns.

Since the 1980s, no concepts have been paid more attention to in discussions of environmental policy and natural resource management than ″sustainability″ and ″sustainable development.″ The concepts, however, are still vague and elusive even though they are frequently being used by a wide range of fields including academia. governments, and the private sector. To identify the diversity, range and concepts of sustainability. this paper will conceptualize the theoretical paradigms and social implications of sustainability and will develop general principles in Public policy.

생태관광은 관광객의 다양한 욕구를 충족시켜주는 동시에 관광지의 환경을 보전할 수 있는 관광유형으로 인식됨으로써 지속가능한 관광과 동일한 것으로 규정되어왔다 그러나 최근에 형성된 다수의 생태관광지가 환경파괴에 직면하고 있음으로써 생태관광에 대한 인식의 새로운 전환이 요구되고 있다. 이에 본 논문은 제주도내 3개 생태관광지의 지속가능성을 평가함으로써 지속가능한 관광으로의 적격여부를 판단하고, 생태관광에 대한 인식의 새로운 지평을 확립하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 조사 결과 송당리 아부오름과 종달리 체험어장의 지속가능성은 낮은 것으로 나타났고, 예래동 생태관광마을은 지속가능성이 논은 것으로 나타났다. 이는 곧 생태관광이 지속가능한 관광과 동일하지 않다는 것을 의미하며, 올바른 관광계획, 개발, 관리에 따라 지속가능한 관광으로 발전할 수 있음을 시사하는 것이다.
