대퇴골 전염각 측정을 위한 수 작업 방법과 Image Viewer 방법과의 비교 연구 (Comparative Study for the Measurement of Fermoral Anteversion by Manual Method and Image Viewer)

  • The measurement of the fermoral anteversion is an important factor in the practice of orthopedic surgery. The anteversion is measured by means of the axis of head and neck of the femur. In this study. widely used computed tomography method of measuring anteversion was tested on femoral necks of patients. Measurement by the manual method and image viewer of computed tomography to determine the anteversion of femoral head were carried out on both femurs. In January and February 2001, 30 patients 3 to 6 years of age were randomly selected from Seoul National University Hospital. the purpose of this paper was to introduce a new method to measure femoral anteversion angle utilizing image viewer program. This new method was more accurate and convenient than the conventional manual method. No significant difference was observed between the manual method and the image viewer measurement of femoral anteversion. In conclusion, image viewer program was statistically more reliable in determining the angle of the fermoral anteversion.

Correlation analysis between radiation exposure and the image quality of cone-beam computed tomography in the dental clinical environment

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to measure the radiation exposure and image quality of various cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) machines under common clinical conditions and to analyze the correlation between them. Materials and Methods: Seven CBCT machines used frequently in clinical practice were selected. Because each machine has various sizes of fields of view (FOVs), 1 large FOV and 1 small FOV were selected for each machine. Radiation exposure was measured using a dose-area product (DAP) meter. The quality of the CBCT images was analyzed using 8 image quality parameters obtained using a dental volume tomography phantom. For statistical analysis, regression analysis using a generalized linear model was used. Results: Polymethyl-methacrylate (PMMA) noise and modulation transfer function (MTF) 10% showed statistically significant correlations with DAP values, presenting positive and negative correlations, respectively (P<0.05). Image quality parameters other than PMMA noise and MTF 10% did not demonstrate statistically significant correlations with DAP values. Conclusion: As radiation exposure and image quality are not proportionally related in clinically used equipment, it is necessary to evaluate and monitor radiation exposure and image quality separately.

Analysis of the priority of anatomic structures according to the diagnostic task in cone-beam computed tomographic images

  • Purpose: This study was designed to evaluate differences in the required visibility of anatomic structures according to the diagnostic tasks of implant planning and periapical diagnosis. Materials and Methods: Images of a real skull phantom were acquired under 24 combinations of different exposure conditions in a cone-beam computed tomography scanner (60, 70, 80, 90, 100, and 110 kV and 4, 6, 8, and 10 mA). Five radiologists evaluated the visibility of anatomic structures and the image quality for diagnostic tasks using a 6-point scale. results: The visibility of the periodontal ligament space showed the closest association with the ability to use an image for periapical diagnosis in both jaws. The visibility of the sinus floor and canal wall showed the closest association with the ability to use an image for implant planning. Variations in tube voltage were associated with significant differences in image quality for all diagnostic tasks. However, tube current did not show significant associations with the ability to use an image for implant planning. conclusion: The required visibility of anatomic structures varied depending on the diagnostic task. Tube voltage was a more important exposure parameter for image quality than tube current. Different settings should be used for optimization and image quality evaluation depending on the diagnostic task.

  • 4차 산업 혁명 시대를 맞이하여, 최근 기계, 전자 부품의 설계, 제조, 검사에 첨단 IT 기술을 융합하는 사례가 늘고 있다. 본 연구에서는 최근에 구축된 산업용 X-ray CT(computed tomography)를 사용한 산업용 부품의 검사에 대한 최신기술에 대해서 다룬다. 먼저 구축된 첨단의 최신 산업용 CT의 구조와 원리에 대해서 설명하며, 이러한 장비의 역할과 성능에 대해서 설명하고, 본 장비의 분석기법을 보완하기 위한 새로운 연구기반의 구축에 대해서 다룬다. 특히 장비의 출력데이터를 Matlab과 같은 범용 연구 툴로 전송하여 연구를 진행할 수 있는 기반을 구축하며, 이를 토대로 기존의 운용 소프트웨어가 제공하지 못했던 보조적인 3D user interface와 3차원 영상처리를 위한 플랫폼을 구축하는 연구를 진행 하였다. 산업용 3차원 X-ray는 아직 소개 된지 얼마 되지 않은 첨단의 고가의 장비로서 이를 활용할 연구의 종류와 내용이 매우 풍부한 주제로, 이러한 기초적인 연구기반은 추후의 보다 발전적인 연구를 위한 아주 유용한 토대가 될 것으로 판단된다.

The using of megavoltage computed tomography in image-guided brachytherapy for cervical cancer: a case report

  • We present a case of cervical cancer treated by concurrent chemoradiation. In radiation therapy part, the combination of the whole pelvic helical tomotherapy plus image-guided brachytherapy with megavoltage computed tomography of helical tomotherapy was performed. We propose this therapeutic approach could be considered in a curative setting in some problematic situation as our institution.

Generation of contrast enhanced computed tomography image using deep learning network

  • In this paper, we propose a application of conditional generative adversarial network (cGAN) for generation of contrast enhanced computed tomography (CT) image. Two types of CT data which were the enhanced and non-enhanced were used and applied by the histogram equalization for adjusting image intensities. In order to validate the generation of contrast enhanced CT data, the structural similarity index measurement (SSIM) was performed. Prepared generated contrast CT data were analyzed the statistical analysis using paired sample t-test. In order to apply the optimized algorithm for the lymph node cancer, they were calculated by short to long axis ratio (S/L) method. In the case of the model trained with CT data and their histogram equalized SSIM were $0.905{\pm}0.048$ and $0.908{\pm}0.047$. The tumor S/L of generated contrast enhanced CT data were validated similar to the ground truth when they were compared to scanned contrast enhanced CT data. It is expected that advantages of Generated contrast enhanced CT data based on deep learning are a cost-effective and less radiation exposure as well as further anatomical information with non-enhanced CT data.

속도 분포 기반 단층촬영을 위한 최적의 트랜스듀서의 조합 (Transducer Combination for High-Quality Ultrasound Tomography Based on Speed of Sound Imaging)

  • 본 논문은 초음파를 이용한 단층촬영(ultrasound computed tomography, UCT)을 위해 사용되는 영상 복원 방식에서 실제 사용되는 초음파 트랜스듀서의 조합에 따른 영항을 다루었다. 촬영 대상의 속도 분포를 구하기 위해서 라돈 변환(radon transform)을 사용하였으며, 음향 임피던스의 영상화를 위하여, 시간지연(delay and sum)방식을 사용하였다. 음향 임피던스 영상의 경우 속도 분포 영상에 의해 보정하여 더 정확한 영상을 복원하였다. 매질의 특성에 따른 감쇠, 굴절 및 반사를 고려한 초음파 시뮬레이터로 128개의 환형 트랜스듀서 어레이를 구현하였으며, 5 MHz의 중심주파수로, 5 cm의 인체조직 영상을 구현하였다. 실제 구현을 위한 최적의 트랜스듀서 조합을 찾기 위해, 점 진원(point source), 평면 트랜스듀서(flat transducer), 집속 트랜스듀서(focused transducer)를 이용해서 속도 분포에 대한 영상과 음향 임피던스 영상을 구현하여 비교하였다. 또한 시뮬레이션 상에서는 송신 및 수신 트랜스듀서가 모두 점 트랜스듀서인 경우가 가장 좋은 결과를 보여주었으나, 실제 구현을 고려하면 송신은 평면 트랜스듀서가 수신은 점 트랜스듀서로 하는 조합이 가장 현실적으로 좋은 결과를 보여준다.

전산화단층촬영 영상에서 지방간의 감별진단을 위한 컴퓨터보조진단의 응용 (Application of Computer-Aided Diagnosis for the Differential Diagnosis of Fatty Liver in Computed Tomography Image)

  • 본 연구는 복부 전산화단층촬영 영상을 이용하여 지방간환자의 영상을 질감특징분석과 ROC curve 분석을 하였으며, 컴퓨터보조진단시스템의 구현을 위한 실험적인 선형 연구로서 전산화단층촬영 영상에서 지방간의 객관적이고 신뢰성 있는 진단 정보를 의사에게 제공하고자 하였다. 실험은 정상 및 지방간 복부 전산화단층촬영 영상을 실험영상으로 하여 설정된 구역에 대한 wavelet 변환을 거쳐 질감의 특징값을 나타내는 6가지 파라미터로 통계적 분석 결과를 나타내었다. 그 결과 엔트로피, 평균밝기, 왜곡도는 90% 이상의 비교적 높은 인식률을 보였고, 대조도, 평탄도, 균일도는 약 70% 정도로 비교적 낮은 인식률을 나타내었다. ROC curve를 이용한 분석에서 6가지의 파라미터 모두 0.900(p=0.0001)이상을 나타내어 질환인식에 의미가 있는 결과를 나타내었다. 또한 6가지 파라미터에서 질환 예측을 위한 cut-off 값을 결정하였다. 이러한 결과는 향후 복부 전산화단층촬영 영상에서 질환 자동검출 및 최종진단의 예비 진단 자료로서 적용 가능할 것이다.

Optimization of exposure parameters and relationship between subjective and technical image quality in cone-beam computed tomography

  • Purpose: This study was performed to investigate the effect of exposure parameters on image quality obtained using a cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scanner and the relationship between physical factors and clinical image quality depending on the diagnostic task. Materials and Methods: CBCT images of a SedentexCT IQ phantom and a real skull phantom were obtained under different combinations of tube voltage and tube current (Alphard 3030 CBCT scanner, 78-90 kVp and 2-8 mA). The images obtained using a SedentexCT IQ phantom were analyzed technically, and the physical factors of image noise, contrast resolution, spatial resolution, and metal artifacts were measured. The images obtained using a real skull phantom were evaluated for each diagnostic task by 6 oral and maxillofacial radiologists, and each setting was classified as acceptable or unacceptable based on those evaluations. A statistical analysis of the relationships of exposure parameters and physical factors with observer scores was conducted. Results: For periapical diagnosis and implant planning, the tube current of the acceptable images was significantly higher than that of the unacceptable images. Image noise, the contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR), the line pair chart on the Z axis, and modulation transfer function (MTF) values showed statistically significant differences between the acceptable and unacceptable image groups. The cut-off values obtained using receiver operating characteristic curves for CNR and MTF 10 were useful for determining acceptability. Conclusion: Tube current had a major influence on clinical image quality. CNR and MTF 10 were useful physical factors that showed significantly associations with clinical image quality.

형광 X선 CT에서 촬상 시간의 단축화 알고리즘 (Algorithm to Shorten Imaging Time in Fluorescent X-ray Computed Tomogrpahy)

  • 방사광을 이용한 형강 X선 CT 이미징의 고속화를 위한 촬상 시스템과 처리 알고리즘을 검토하였다. 본 논문에서 사용된 촬상시스템은 고계수율 영역에서 안정된 동작을 한 전자 시스템으로 불감시간이 약 6%로 감소되고 계측시간의 경우도 1 점 당 3초로 단축되었다. 또한 재구성 알고리즘의 효율화를 증명하였고, 메모리와 계산량을 약 1/100로 감소시켰다. 물리적 phantom으로 그 정량성을 확인하였고, 시험관내의 갑상선의 화상으로부터 요드 분포를 추정하였다. 이러한 결과는 생체내에서 형광 X선 CT 계측의 실현 가능성을 보여준 것이다.
