The purpose of this study was to classify the communication styles of the husbands and wives in Korea. The instrument of this study was questionnaire which was made through the three times' pre-research by the researcher. In the pre-research, husbands and wives were asked what were the communication styles in their daily life. Among the gathered data 55 items were chosen by the frequency of the communication styles. The subjects were 240 husbands and 264 wives who lives in Seoul. In this study the following questions were examined. 1) What are the communication styles of the husbands? 2) What are the communication styles of the wives? The data were analyzed by the method described below with SAS and SPSS computer programs. 1) To find out general character of the subjects, frequency distribution and frequency percentage should be computed. 2) To analyze items of the scale, mean standard deviation, and relative frequency distribution of the respective items should be computed. 3) To extract factor of the respective group, the procedure of factor analysis should be applied. 4) To verify the reliability of the respective factor, Cronakch's α should be computed. 5) To notice the differences in background variables, the analysis variance should be computed. The conclusions derived from the findings were as follows: 1) The communication styles of the husbands group were categorized into authoritarian style, contactful style, sincere style, speculative, speculative style, other-oriented style. 2) The communication styles of th wives group were categorized into authoritarian style. sincere style, other-oriented style, sacrifice style, speculative style.
Purpose : Image plate (IP) is substituted for film in computed radiography. This study is to investigate into a variation of contrast and detail by the number used of image plate in computed radiography. Materials and Methods : A Contrast-Detail(CD)-RAD 2.0 phantom(Nijmegen hospital, The Netherlands) was used for this study. The computed radiography(CR) CD-RAD phantom images were acquired at 40 kVp, 160 mA, 1.6 mAs, and small focus with the Shimadzu general radiography UD-150B-10 system and Fuji FCR 5000 image process system with speed of 200. The IP used including once, 5000 times, and 10000 times also was used. The numerical value of image quality figures (IQF) was produced by CD-RAD analyser(the program is installed in the directory), and then contrast-detail curve was drawn. Results : In this study, the value of IQF was 3.53 in IP used once, 3.40 in 5000 times, and 3.22 in 10000 times. Conclusions : There was a variation of contrast-detail curve by the number used of IP with contrast-detail phantom in computed radiography. Therefore, it is necessary that the IP with lower IQF and a shift of contrast-detail curve to the lower left part is used.
An 11-year-old, intact male Cocker Spaniel dog was presented with history of abdominal distension, dyspnea for 10 days and lethargy for 1 day. Abdominal radiographs showed decreased serosal detail with abdominal distension. Abdominal ultrasounds revealed gallbladder mucocele with generalized peritonitis showing stellate-like sludge in the gallbladder with echogenic fat degeneration of cranial abdomen and abdominal free fluid containing echogenic materials. Loss of gallbladder wall integrity was shown clearly on computed tomography but ambiguously on ultrasound. Ultrasound-guided abdominocentesis was performed and showed amount of yellowish-bloody peritoneal fluid with vegetable matter and mucoid substance. On peritoneal fluid analysis, bilirubin level was elevated over three times than those of the serum. On exploratory laparotomy, gallbladder rupture and generalized bile peritonitis with intestinal adhesions were confirmed and cholecystectomy with peritoneal lavage was performed. One day after operation, patient died. This report describes delayed clinical symptoms of gallbladder rupture by gallbladder mucocele. In addition, this is the first case report using computed tomography made a diagnosis gallbladder rupture in a dog. Computed tomography might be helpful to diagnose gallbladder rupture.

In this paper it was examined both imaging system and processing algorithm for imaging's high speedization of fluorescent X-ray computed tomography using synchrotron radiation, The electronic system was used for dead time by about 6% but shortening of measure time was achieved by 2 seconds per 1 point. Also efficiency of reconstruction algorithm was proved, and memory and calculation amount was decreased by about 1/100 The fixed quantity was confirmed by physical phantom, and iodine distribution was presumed from image of thyroid gland in vitro These result shows realization possibility of fluorescent X-ray computed tomography measure in vivo.
Purpose: To compare alveolar bony height of pantomograph with bony height of thin slice, multiplanar reformatted (MPR) Computed Tomograph. Materials and Methods : Panoramic radiograms of 12 young adult patients had been taken by one radologic technitian and the measurements were corrected by magnification ratio (1.20). The slice thickness of Multi-detector Computed Tomography (CT) was at least 1mm for the accuracy. The raw CT datas were imported into the V-works 4.0 (CyberMed Corp., Seoul, Korea) and transformed to MPR images. Pantomographic measurements of alveolar bone were compared to CT values by average mean bony height measurements for the accuracy. Inter-, and Intra-observer variability was evaluated. Results : There was no significant differences between height measurement of pantomography and that of CT (P>0.05). There were no significant differences in either inter-or intra-observer measurements (P>0.05). Conclusion : Pantomography showed relatively high accuracy and precision in measuring alveolar bony height.
Purpose : To evaluate position of the mandibular condyle within articular fossa in an asymptomatic population radiographically by a cone beam computed tomography. Materials and Methods : Cone beam computed tomography of 60 temporomandibular joints was performed on 15 males and 15 females with no history of any temporomandibular disorders, or any other orthodontic or prosthodontic treatments. Position of mandibular condyle within articular fossa at centric occlusion was evaluated. A statistical evaluation was done using a SPSS. Results : In the sagittal views, mandibular condyle within articular fossa was posteriorly located at medial and central sections. In the coronal views, mandibular condyle within articular fossa was laterally located at central section. Mandibular condyles in the right and left sides were showed asymmetric positional relationship at medial, central, and lateral sections. Conclusion : Mandibular condyle within articular fossa in an asymptomatic population was observed nonconcentric position in the sagittal and coronal views.
Purpose: This study was performed to investigate the characteristics of mandibular incisive canal (MIC) in Korean population. Materials and methods: A total of 97 subjects (60 males and 37 females) who underwent cone-beam computed tomography were included in the study. The anatomic features of MIC was assessed according to gender. Length, diameter and distance to inferior, lingual and buccal border were measured at the origin and the terminal. Also the distribution of MIC at each tooth position was evaluated. Results: Of 97 patients included, 75(77.3%) presented bilateral MIC and 13(13.4%) presented unilateral MIC. Of 194 hamimandibles, MIC was detected in 102(85%) sites in male and 61(82.4%) sites in female. Gender and side showed no statistically significant differences in detectability. The length, diameter and distance to adjacent structures were bigger in male than in female except the distance to lingual border. MIC travelled anteriorly in a slightly downward and lingual direction and usually terminated between the first premolar and the canine. On cross-sectional view, MIC showed individually scattered distribution both buccolingually and superoinferiorly. Conclusion: MIC is well detected with cone-beam computed tomography. Considered that the length and the location of MIC has large variations between individuals, its localization using cone-beam CT is highly recommended before performing surgical procedures such as implant placement and bone harvesting.
Purpose: This study was performed to examine distribution of accessory mandibular canal and its characteristics in mandibular third molars. Materials and methods: A total of 251 subjects (166 males and 85 females) having mandibular third molars bilaterally were included in the study. Cone-beam computed tomographic images were reviewed for bifid or trifid accessory mandibular canal. The prevalence of accessory mandibular canal was evaluated according to gender, side and its branching type. Proximity and crosssectional position of accessory mandibular canal to mandibular third molar was analyzed. Results: Accessory mandibular canals were found in 66 (26.3%) of 251 patients and 86 (17.1%) of 502 hemi-mandibles. Gender and sides showed no statistically significant differences in prevalence. Retromolar canal (46.1%) was the most common branching type. Proximity of accessory canal to mandibular third molars showed mean distance of 2.8 mm from third molar and a statistically significant difference was found among types of accessory canal. Dental canal was the closest to tooth among branching types and closer to tooth than main canal. On cross-sectional view, accessory canal was generally located on buccal side of mandibular third molar. Conclusion: Accessory mandibular canal was common and well detected with cone-beam computed tomography. Their localization is significant in all anesthetic and surgical procedures involving mandibular third molars.
A female unknown aged Yorkshire terrier, weighing 3.5 kg with nasal discharge, left facial swelling and severe inflammation was referred to Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, Seoul National University. Radiographic findings were lytic change and soft tissue swelling of left zygomatic process and increased radiopacity of nasal cavity. In computed tomography, turbinate bone destruction was observed as well as lytic change of left zygomatic process and left maxilla indicating aggressive lesion. Then 3-dimensional reconstruction was also performed. Biopsy of tissue mass revealed it as squamous cell carcinoma. For this patient, euthanasia was performed guarded prognosis. Generally, tumors of the nasal cavity in dogs account for approximately 1 % to 2% of all neoplasms. The prevalence of these tumors increased with age and exposure to the ultraviolet. About two thirds of all nasal tumors are malignant tumors such as squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. As these tumors of nasal cavity are locally invasive, and external beam radiotherapy is the current treatment of choice. Unfortunately, diagnosis of these tumors often occurs late in the course of disease, resulting in a poor prognosis for outcome in many patients. It is considered that computed tomography could be used as an aid modality for the exact evaluation of extend and degree of bone lysis of nasal cavity and metastasis.

In this study, the non-destructive computed tomography was adopted to observe the density profile of the needle-punched Carbon/Carbon(C/C) composites nozzle throat. The density profile of C/C was evaluated within ${\pm}0.01g/cm^3$ with 98.74% confidence when the correction of the image and high signal-to-noise ratio were achieved by the optimization of the beam hardening, the electrical noise and the scattered X-ray. The density variation of C/C with the computed tomography was in good agreement with the results obtained by the water immersion method and the observation with scanning electron microscope.
