The content of most of the chemical constituents varied significantly with different harvesting time. The content of ${\alpha}$-caryophyllene and caryophyllene oxide was increased significantly from 2011 to 2013. The content of ${\alpha}$-caryophyllene and isocaryophyllene was decreased significantly from 2011 to 2013.
Mutual miscibility between thermotropic, nematic compounds with two terminal mesogenic units and a central spacer was studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and on a polarizing microscope. It was found that the isomorphous, nematic dimesogenic compounds with wide variety of structures are miscible in mesophases with each other over the whole range of composition and that Schroder-van Laar equation almost correctly predicts the melting temperature and composition of eutectic mixtures. There was a pair of compounds which were exceptional and did not form a eutectic mixture and, instead, revealed a monotonous change in melting (T$_{m}$) and isotropic transition temperatures (T$_{i}$) as the composition of the mixture was varied. The compounds were of almost same structure in shape and seemed to undergo formation of solid solution.
This study investigated the chemical composition of Cirsium japonicum var. ussurience Kitamura essential oil and the quantitative changes of major volatile flavor compounds according to the harvesting season. The essential oils obtained by the method of hydrodistillation extraction from aerial parts of C. japonicum var. ussurience Kitamura were analyzed by GC and GC-MS. Sixty-four volatile flavor compounds were identified in the essential oil from C. japonicum var. ussurience Kitamura harvested in May 2012; hexadecanoic acid (49.31%) was the most abundant compound, followed by 6,10,14-trimethyl-2-pentadecanone (13.72%), phytol (13.40%) and 9-hexadecenoic acid (4.16%). Eighty-three compounds were identified in the essential oil from the plant harvested in October 2012; phytol (40.56%), hexadecanoic acid (17.69%), 6,10,14-trimethyl-2-pentadecanone (13.71%), and caryophyllene oxide (4.15%) were the most abundant compounds. Types and levels of volatile compounds from different harvesting seasons varied. The essential oil composition of C. japonicum var. ussurience Kitamura harvested in the spring and autumn was characterized by higher contents of aliphatic fatty acid, diterpene and sesquiterpene, respectively.
As a series of investigation on the ex-N compounds, the amino acid composition of the naturally grown and cultured prawn meat extracts was analyzed according to the following extraction conditions: 70% ethyl alcohol extraction, alcohol treatment of the same concentration after hot water extraction for 30 min, and 5% TCA treatment. The Protein content and the level of pure protein was 22 .8% and 18.4% in naturally grown prawn muscle, and 21.8% and 15.3% in the cultured prawn muscle, respectively. None protein nitrogenous compounds of the extracts were 4.4% in the naturally grown prawn muscle and 6.5% in the cultured prawn muscle, respectively. According to the different extract condition, ex-N compounds and the amino acid composition and related compounds and the amino acid composition and related compounds showed high level from 5% trichloroacetic acid extraction. The content of ex-N compounds of the cultured prawn muscle was 1033.0mg%. whereas the content of amino acids and related compounds-N was 825.3mg%, nearly reached to 80% to the total extractive nitrogen. A common feature of the free amino acid composition in the extracts of the muscles of the naturally grown and cultured prawn was high contents of glycine, proline, taurine, alanine and hydroxyproline.
Thermochemical sulfate reduction (TSR) was conducted in autoclave on the system of crude oil and $MgSO_4$ at different temperatures. Gas chromatography pulsed flame photometric detector (GC-PFPD) was used to detected the composition of organic sulfur compounds in oil phase products. The results of the analysis indicate that with increased temperature, the contents of organic sulfur compounds with high molecular weight and thermal stability, such as benzothiophenes and dibenzothiophenes, gradually became dominated. In order to gain greater insight into the formation and distribution of organic sulphur compounds from TSR, positive ion electrospray Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR MS) was used in detecting the detailed elemental composition and distribution of them. The mass spectra showed that the mass range of sulfur compounds was 200-550 Da. Four sulfur class species, $S_1$, $N_1S_1$, $O_1S_1$ and $O_2S_1$, were assigned in the positive-ion spectrum. Among the identified sulfur compounds, the $S_1$ class species was dominant. The most abundant $S_1$ class species increase associated with the DBE value and carbon number increasing which also indicates the evolution of organic sulfur compounds in TSR is from the labile series to the stable one. In pure blank pyrolysis experiments with crude oil cracking without TSR, different composition and distribution of organic sulfur compounds in oil phase products were seen from mass spectra in order to evaluate their pyrolysis behaviors without $MgSO_4$. FT-IR and XRD were used in analyzing the products of solid phases. Two distinct crystallographic phases MgO and $MgSO_4$ are found to coexist in the products which demonstrated the transformation of inorganic sulfur compounds into organosulfur compounds exist in TSR.
A premixing effect for the properties of carbon black-filled rubber compounds was investigated using biblends of natural rubber (NR), styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), and butadiene rubber (BR). Degree of mixing of the biblends was controlled by preblending time of 0.0, 2.5, and 5.0 min. Mooney viscosities of the compounds decreased by increasing the preblending time. Of three carbon black-filled compounds of NR/SBR, NR/BR, and SBR/BR compounds, only the SBR/BR blends showed a specific cure characteristics depending on the preblending time. For the bound rubber composition, the NR content was higher than SBR and BR. The difference in the rubber composition ratio of the bound rubber became smaller with increasing the preblending time. Physical properties of the vulcanizates such as hardness, modulus, tensile property, abrasion loss, and tans were also compared. Differences in properties of the compounds were discussed with miscibility of the dissimilar rubbers and degree of mixing.
This study investigated the volatile flavor composition of essential oils from Solidago virga-aurea var. asiatica Nakai with different harvesting area. The essential oils obtained by the hydrodistillation extraction method from the aerial parts of the plants were analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) and GC-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Ninety-five (91.61%) volatile flavor compounds were identified in the essential oils from the S. virga-aurea var. asiatica Nakai harvested in Koheung, Jeolanamdo. The major compounds were hexadecanoic acid (29.22%), 7-hexyl eicosane (9.12%), spathulenol (7.701%), 3,8-dimethyl decane (6.48%), caryophyllene oxide (4.52%) and α-copaene (4.23%). Fifty-seven (97.43%) volatile flavor compounds were identified in the essential oils from the S. virga-aurea var. asiatica Nakai harvested in Seoguipo, Jejudo. The major compounds were 2-carene (40.95%), α-copaene (10.77%), α-muurolene (5.81%), and spathulenol (3.11%). The chemical composition of the essential oils was significantly different in quality and quantity with the different harvesting area. The quantitative variations of hexadecanoic acid, 7-hexyl eicosane, spathulenol, 3,8-dimethyl decane, caryophyllene oxide, 2-carene, and α-copaene according to different harvesting area can serve as a quality index of the S. virga-aurea var. asiatica Nakai essential oils in food industries.
This study was performed to investigate the effect of different levels of dietary crude protein (CP) on composition of odorous compounds and bacterial communities in pig manure. A total of 48 male pigs (average initial body weight 45 kg) fed diets containing three levels of dietary CP (20%, 17.5%, and 15%) and their slurry samples were collected from the pits under the floor every week for one month. Changes in composition of odorous compounds and bacterial communities were analyzed by gas chromatography and 454 FLX titanium pyrosequencing systems, respectively. Levels of phenols, indoles, short chain fatty acid and branched chain fatty acid were lowest (p<0.05) in CP 15% group among three CP levels. Relative abundance of Bacteroidetes phylum and bacterial genera including Leuconostoc, Bacillus, Atopostipes, Peptonphilus, Ruminococcaceae_uc, Bacteroides, and Pseudomonas was lower (p<0.05) in CP 15% than in CP 20% group. There was a positive correlation (p<0.05) between odorous compounds and bacterial genera: phenol, indole, iso-butyric acid, and iso-valeric acid with Atopostipes, p-cresol and skatole with Bacteroides, acetic acid and butyric acid with AM982595_g of Porphyromonadaceae family, and propionic acid with Tissierella. Taken together, administration of 15% CP showed less production of odorous compounds than 20% CP group and this result might be associated with the changes in bacterial communities especially whose roles in protein metabolism.

Spathulenol (22.33%) was the most abundant compound, followed by ${\beta}$- caryophyllene (6.23%), germacrene D (5.57%), longipinane (4.10%), and epiglobulol (3.65%). The volatile composition of Syneilesis palmata was characterized by higher contents of sesquiterpene compounds, especially sesquiterpene alcohols. The total content of 13 sesquiterpene compounds was decreased significantly from 2010 to 2012. ${\alpha}$-Caryophyllene, ${\beta}$-bisabolene, elemol, germacrene D, ${\beta}$-zingiberene, longipinane, and ${\beta}$-caryophyllene alcohol contents decreased, while ${\beta}$-bisabolol content increased during 3 years. The ecological responses to recent climate change may be influenced in the chemical components of natural plant terpenoids.
This study was performed to investigate the influence of curing conditions on the composition of essential oil during curing process of burley tobacco leaves. The curing conditions were the primed curing in vinyl house (house-curing), air-curing barn (air-curing) and stalk-curing in conventional curing house (stalk-curing). Total 90 compounds are identified from the steam volatile oils of harvest and cured tobacco leaves by GC and GC-MS, respectively. The major components were neophytadiene, hexadecanoic acid, 3,8,13-duvatriene-1,5-diols, oxide-9-methylene-3,13-duvadienols, solanone, megastigma-4,6,8-trien-3-ones, phenylacetaldehyde, $\beta$-phenylethyl alcohol, indole, dihydroactinidiolide and phytol. The amount of alcoholic compounds was decreased more than approximately 50% in cured leaves without regard to the curing conditions. $\beta$-Phenylethyl alcohol and 3,8,13-duvatriene-1,5-diols were decreased more in air curing and stalk curing than in house curing. The amounts of phenylacetaldehyde, solanone, $\beta$-damascone, $\beta$ -damascenone, oxysolanone and megastigma-4,6,8-trien-3-ones as ketonic compounds, dihydroactinidiolide and indole as miscellaneous compounds in air-cured and stalk-cured tobacco leaves were 2 times higher than those in house-cured leaves, while esteric and acidic compounds were not changed largely in content by curing conditions.
