Compound CVT with K-H-V Differential Gear and V-belt Drive

  • Continuously variable transmission (CVT) mechanisms combine the functions of a K-H-V type differential gear unit and a V-belt type continuously variable unit (CVU). For the 24 different mechanisms, 12 of them are power circulation modes while the other 12 are power split modes. Some useful theoretical formulas related to speed ratio, power flow and efficiency were derived and analyzed. These mechanisms have many advantages: they decrease CVT size and weight, increase overall efficiency, extend speed ratio range, and generate geared neutral. Compound CVTs were developed by combining the power circulation mode and power split mode, which can offer backward motion, geared neutral, underdrive and overdrive.

  • Four banana-shaped compounds have beene synthesized introducing ester linking group into mesogenic unit, varying the central core with 1,6-, 1,7-, 2,3-, and 2,7-naphthylene units, and introducing the dodecyloxy group as the terminal flexible unit. All obtained compounds except one with 1,7-naphthylene unit were reversibly thermotropically liquid crystalline. The compound with 1,7-naphthylene unit could not form the mesophase due to its asymmetrical and sharp substitution angle. The compounds with 1,6- and 2,3-naphthylene units showed an antiferroelectric switchable smectic phase, which has been designated B2 phase. Interestingly, the compound with the 2,3-naphthylene unit showed the two mesophases of B2 and nematic phase.

  • An infinite dam with a compound Poisson input having exponential jumps is considered. As an output policy, we adopt the $P_{\lambda}$$^{M}$ Policy. After assigning costs to the dam we obtain the long-rum average cost per unit time of operating the dam and find the optimal values of .lambda. and M which minimize the long-run average cost.t.

Basic Studies on the Pyrolysis of Lignin Compounds (리그닌 화합물의 열분해에 관한 기초 연구)

  • Lignin model compounds I-lV were pyrolyzed at 315$^{\circ}C$. The mixture compounds pyrolized were analyzed by GC-MS spectrometry. The results were summarized as follows : 1. From the pyrolysis of lignin model compound I and II, 0.45mo1 of guaiacol, 0.5mol of dimethoxyphenol(DMP), and 0.12 and 0.23mo1 of dimethoxyacetonphenone(DMAP) were produced respectively. 2. In the pyrolysis of lignin model compound III and IV, 0.26mol of guaiacol, 0.30mo1 of DMP, and 0.09 and 0.15mo1 of trimethoxyaretonphenone(TMAP) were produced respectively 3. Pyrolysis mechanism of lignin model compounds are dehydrated at first, and $\beta$-04 linkage cleavaged, and then guaiacol, DMP, DMAP and TMAP were produced. The above results show that lignin model compound I and II produce more aromatic compounds than lignin model compound III and IV. This is reason that veratryl unit structures may pyrolize easier than trimethoxyphenol unit structures. The closer research is proceeding.

Segmentation of Korean Compound Nouns Using Semantic Category Analysis of Unregistered Nouns (미등록어의 의미 범주 분석을 이용한 복합명사 분해)

  • This paper proposes a method of segmenting compound nouns which include unregistered nouns into a correct combination of unit nouns using characteristics of person's names, loanwords, and location names. Korean person's name is generally composed of 3 syllables, only relatively small number of syllables is used as last names, and the second and the third syllables combination is somewhat restrictive. Also many person's names appear with clue words in compound nouns. Most loanwords have one or more syllables which cannot appear in Korean words, or have sequences of syllables different from usual Korean words. Location names are generally used with clue words designating districts in compound nouns. Use of above characteristics to analyze compound nouns not only makes segmentation more accurate, helps natural language systems use semantic categories of those unregistered nouns. Experimental results show that the precision of our method is approximately 98% on average. The precision of human names and loanwords recognition is about 94% and about 92% respectively.

Design and Performance Verification of Compound CVTs with 2K-H I type Differential Gear

  • This paper defined design constraints for the compound CVTs (continuously variable trans-missions) by combining power-circulation-mode CVTs and power-split-mode CVTs, which were proposed for connecting 2K-H I-type differential gear to V-belt-type CVU (Continuously Variable Unit). The design constraints are the necessary and sufficient conditions to avoid geometrical interferences among elements in the compound CVTs, and to guarantee smooth assembly between the power-circulation-mode CVT and power-split-mode CVT Two com-pound CVTs were designed and manufactured in accordance with the design constraints. With these compound CVTs, theoretical analysis and performance experiments were conducted. The results showed that the design constraints were valid and effective design method, and that the designed compound CVTs had the improved performance.

The Characteristics of Compound Layers Formed during Plasma Nitrocarburising in Pure Iron (플라즈마 침질탄화처리된 순철의 화합물층 특성)

  • Ferritic plasma nitrocarburising was performed on pure iron using a modified DC plasma unit. This investigation was carried out with various gas compositions which consisted of nitrogen, hydrogen and carbon monoxide gases, and various gas pressures for 3 hours at $570^{\circ}C$. After treatment, the different cooling rates(slow cooling and fast cooling) were used to investigate its effect on the structure of the compound layer. The ${\varepsilon}$ phase occupied the outer part of the compound layer and ${\gamma}^{\prime}$ phase existed between the ${\varepsilon}$ phase and the diffusion zone. The gas composition of the atmosphere influenced the constitution of the compound layer produced, i.e. high nitrogen contents were essential for the production of ${\varepsilon}$ phase compound layer. It was found that with increasing carbon content in the gas mixture the compound layer thickness increased up to 10%. In the gas pressure around 3 mbar, the compound layer characteristics were slightly effected by gas pressure. However, in the low gas pressure and high gas pressure, the compound layer characteristics were significantly changed. The constitution of the compound layer was altered by varying the cooling rate. A large amount of ${\gamma}^{\prime}$ phase was transformed from the ${\varepsilon}$ phase during slow cooling.

Study on the Activity of GOT and GPT in the Hepatotoxic Rat Treated (구기자 투여 간손상 흰쥐에서 GOT 및 GPT의 활성화 연구)

  • The present study was undertaken in order to investigate betaine production by tissue culture and its medicinal effect in Lycium chinone Mill. In order to ulvestigate the protective effect of L. chinense on the hepatoxicity induced by $CCl_4$, 0.5 g/kg water extract of the compound mixture (leaves, roots and shoots) of L. chinense and its callus were fed to rat (SD line) once a day. As a result, the activity of GOT and GPT in the group fed compound mixture (GOT 760.4 and GPT 540 Karmen unit) and callus (G0T 772.1 and GPT 556.4 Karmen unit) was decreased in the blood serume relative to the controlled rat group (GOT 949 and GPT 640 Karmen unit) and the same result was obtained in the group fed with 0.1 g/kg sylimarin (the activity of GOT and GPT was shown 492.6 and 320.4 Karmen unit respectively. These results strongly indicate that water extracts of the mixture and callus from L. chinense do have the same decreasing effect of GOT and GPT in the hepatotoxic rat induced by $CCl_4$.

A Study on the Wear Characteristics of Compound Layers Formed during Gaseous Nitrocarburizing in Medium Carbon Boron Steels (중탄소 Boron강의 가스침질탄화처리에 의해 형성된 화합물층의 마모특성에 관한 연구)

  • The study on the wear characteristics of compound layers formed during gaseous nitrocarburising in the medium carbon boron steels and the plain carbon steel has been carried out by using a pin-on-disc type wear test machine under the oil lubricating condition at room temperature and by varying applied loads, sliding speeds and wear distances. Values of friction coefficient measured at the sliding speed of 0.4m/sec under the oil lubricating condition have been shown to decrease considerably with increasing applied load and become gradually a constant value as load is increased to a higher value, showing that the transition load for friction coefficient appears at an applied load of 247.2N. The length and volume wear rates of compound layer have been revealed to relatively constantly increase, also showing that the wear life per unit thickness of compound layer turns out to be superior as porous layer has a denser and thinner appearance. As the sliding speed increases during wear test performed by varying sliding speed at a load of 63.2N under the oil lubricating condition for medium carbon boron steel nitrocarburised in gas atmosphere, the wear rate has been found to increase, the friction coefficient to decrease and the wear life per unit thickness of compound layer to decrease considerably.
