In this study, Sangpyeontongbo excavated at Bigyeongdo, Seosan, were investigated to determine the components of the corrosion products that were formed while they were buried underwater in an anaerobic environment. The causes of corrosion product formation were also determined. Microstructure observation, element mapping, principle component analysis for each year, and the detection of corrosion products were carried out. Results indicate that the concretions of corrosion products on the surface are needle-, hexahedral-, and octahedral-shaped; Pb, Cu, and S were among the elements detected. The Cu-S layer was clearly verified using element mapping. An analysis of major elements for each layer showed that Cu, S, and Pb were present and that most Zn was eliminated. The corrosion products detected were $PbCO_3$ (concretion) and $Cu_{1.96}S$ (metal). Accordingly, the anaerobic corrosion properties of Sangpyeongtongbo are summarized as follows: dezincification, copper sulfide, and lead compound.
Due to the inherently poor adhesion strength of Cu-based leadframe/EMC(Epoxy Molding Compound) interface, popcorn-cracking phenomena of thin plastic packages frequently occur during the solder reflow process. In this study, in order to enhance the adhesion strength of Cu-based leadframe/EMC interface, brown-oxide layer was formed on the leadframe surface by immersing of leadframe sheets in hot alkaline solution, and the adhesion strength of leadframe/EMC interface was measured by using SDCB(Sandwiched Double Cantilever Beam) and SBN(Sandwiched Brazil-Nut) specimens. Results showed that brown oxide treatment of leadframe introduced fine acicular CuO crystals on the leadframe surface and improved the adhesion strength of leadframe/EMC interface. Enhancement of adhesion strength was directly related to the thickening kinetics of oxide layer. This might be due to the mechanical interlocking of fine acicular CuO crystals into EMC.
This study was devised to observe the cytotoxic activity of extracts of Panax ginseng root against some cancer cells and to purify the crude extract. Three kinds of cancer cells(leukemic cells L5178Y, HeLa cells and Sarcoma 180 cells) and mouse embryo cells (as normal cells) were used for this study. The ginseng roots were extracted with petroleum ether in soxhlet apparatus, and the crude extracts were purified by the silicic acid column chromatography and thin-layer chromatography methods. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1. Eight to ten mg of the petroleum ether extract (crude extract) were obtained from 1 g of Panax ginseng root, and its activities per mg were about 1,000 units. 2. Doubling time of the L5178Y cells was increased to two fold by 24 hours incubation in culture medium containing about one ${\mu}g$ of extract per ml, and eight and ten folds higher concentration of ginseng extract were required for the Sarcoma 180 cells and HeLa cells, respectively, than for the leukemic cells(L5178Y) to inhibit the cellular growth to the same degree. 3. When the L5178Y cells were exposed to medium containing various concentration of the extract for 24 hours before initiation of the soft agar cloning procedure, about $99\%$ of the L5178Y cells were killed at concentration of 8 units per ml. 4. The growth rate of mouse embryo cell (as normal cell) was not affected by the culture with media containing various amounts (1.45 to 30.0 ${\mu}g/ml$) of the extract. 5. The crude extract could be purified about four times by silicic acid column chromatography using several solvent systems, and one spot of active compound could be obtained on the thin-layer chromatogram. 6. In the Swiss mice inoculated with Sarcoma 180 cells, a survival time of the experimental group (injection group of active compound) was extended more. 1.5 to 2.0 times than the control group's(no injection group).

$CuInS_2$ thin films were synthesized by sulpurization of Cu/In Stacked elemental layer deposited onto glass Substrates by vacuum furance annealing at temperature 200[$^{\circ}C$]. And structural and electrical properties were measured in order to certify optimum conditions for growth of the ternary compound semiconductor $CuInS_2$ thin films with non-stoichiometry composition. $CuInS_2$ thin film was well made at the heat treatment 200 [$^{\circ}C$] of SLG/Cu/In/S stacked elemental layer which was prepared by thermal evaporator, and chemical composition of the thin film was analyzed nearly as the proportion of 1:1:2. Physical properties of the thin film were investigated at various fabrication conditions substrate temperature, annealing and temperature, annealing time by XRD, FE-SEM and hall measurement system. At the same time, carrier concentration, hall mobility and resistivity of the thin films was $9.10568{\times}10^{17}[cm^{-3}]$, $312.502[cm^2/V{\cdot}s]$ and $2.36{\times}10^{-2}[{\Omega}{\cdot}cm]$, respectively.

[ $CulnS_2$ ] thin films were synthesized by sulfurization of Cu/In Stacked elemental layer deposited onto glass Substrates by vacuum furnace annealing at temperature $200^{\circ}C$. And structural and electrical properties were measured in order to certify optimum conditions for growth of the ternary compound semiconductor $CuInS_2$ thin films with non-stoichiometry composition. $CuInS_2$ thin film was well made at the annealed $200^{\circ}C$ of SLG/Cu/In/S stacked elemental layer which was prepared by thermal evaporator, and chemical composition of the thin film was analyzed nearly as the proportion of 1 : 1 : 2. Physical properties of the thin film were investigated at various fabrication conditions substrate temperature, annealing and temperature, annealing time by XRD, FE-SEM and Hall measurement system. The compositional deviations from the ideal chemical formula for $200^{\circ}C$ material can be conveniently described by non-molecularity$({\Delta}x=[Cu/In]-1)$ and non-stoichiometry $({\Delta}y=[{2S/(Cu+3In)}-1])$. The variation of ${\Delta}x$ would lead to the formation of equal number of donor and accepters and the films would behave like a compensated material. The ${\Delta}y$ parameter is related to the electronic defects and would determine the type of the majority charge carriers. Films with ${\Delta}y>0$ would behave as p-type material while ${\Delta}y<0$ would show n-type conductivity. At the sane time, carrier concentration, hall mobility and resistivity of the thin films was $9.10568{\times}10^{17}cm^{-3},\;312.502cm^2/V{\cdot}s\;and\;2.36{\times}10^{-2}\;{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$, respectively.
In a continuation of the 1st series of these studies, a separation of the components in organic phases obtained from Szilard Chalmer reactions of aromatic chloro derivatives was attempted to clarify the conditions of isolating the main component. Though it was unable to isolate all constituents of organic phases, the main component was well isolated by means of a simple distillation or a thin layer chromatography. It was identified that the main component was a recombined product of the recoiled $^{38}$ Cl atom with the original sample. In cases of solid samples the main component amounted about 80-60% of the radio activity of the organic phase, whereas the main component from liquid samples gave less than 70% of the radio activity of the organic phase. A prolonged irradiation could increase the yield of a main component, but it was, in case of a radiation senintive compound, decreased as the irradiation is extended. The number of aide produets separated from an organic phase of a liquid sample was greater than that of a solid sample, and hence the main component of a solid sample was isolated easier. The overall fields of the labelled main products of 22 kinds of compounds were listed and a procedure of the separation of the main component by a thin layer chromatograply was proposed and evaluated. The feasibility of the present procedure for labelling purpose was also reviewed with respects to the chemical structure of a compound.

In this study, a reaction study between Ga, which has recently been spotlighted as a low-temperature bonding material, and Cu, a representative electrode material, was conducted to investigate information necessary for low-temperature soldering applications. Interfacial reaction and intermetallic compound (IMC) growth were observed and analyzed by reacting Ga and Cu/Au substrates in the temperature range of 80-200℃. The main IMC growing at the reaction interface was CuGa2 phase, and AuGa2 IMC with small particle sizes was formed on the upper part and Cu9Ga4 IMC with a thin band shape on the lower part of the CuGa2 layer. CuGa2 particles showed a scallop shape, and the particle size increased without significant shape change as the reaction time increased, similar to the case of Cu6Sn5 growth. As a result of analyzing the CuGa2 growth mechanism, the time exponent was calculated to be ~3.0 in the temperature range of 120-200℃, and the activation energy was measured to be 17.7 kJ/mol.

Recently, as the demand for high-performance computers and mobile products increases, semiconductor packages are becoming high-integration and high-density. Therefore, in order to transmit a large amount of data at once, micro bumps such as flip-chip and Cu pillar that can reduce bump size and pitch and increase I/O density are used. However, when the size of the bumps is smaller than 70 ㎛, the brittleness increases and electrical properties decrease due to the rapid increase of the IMC volume fraction in the solder joint, which deteriorates the reliability of the solder joint. Therefore, in order to improve these issues, a layer that serves to prevent diffusion is inserted between the UBM (Under Bump Metallization) or pillar and the solder cap. In this review paper, various studies to improve bonding properties by suppressing excessive IMC growth of micro-bumps through additional layer insertion were compared and analyzed.

In this paper, GaAs/AlGaAs multi-layer structure was grown by liquid phase epitaxy with graphite sliding boat, which can be used as a device structure of a photocathode image sensor. The multi-layer structure was grown on an n-type GaAs substrate in the sequence as follows: GaAs buffer layer, Zn-doped p-type AlGaAs layer as etching stop layer, Zn-doped p-type GaAs layer, and Zn-doped p-type AlGaAs layer. The Characteristics of GaAs/AlGaAs structures were analyzed by using scanning electron microscope (SEM), secondary ion mass spectrometer (SIMS) and hall measurement. The SEM images shows that the p-AlGaAs/p-GaAs/p-AlGaAs multi-layer structure was grown with a mirror-like surface on a whole ($1.25mm{\times}25mm$) substrate. The Al composition in the AlGaAs layer was approximately 80 %. Also, it was confirmed that the free carrier concentration in the p-GaAs layer can be adjusted to the range of $8{\times}10^{18}/cm^2$ by hall measurement. In the result, it is expected that the p-AlGaAs/p-GaAs/p-AlGaAs multi-layer structure grown by the LPE can be used as a device structure of a photoelectric cathode image sensor.
A methanol extract of the root of Peucedanum japonicum, used as a medicinal herb, showed an inhibitory effect on mammalian topoisomerase I activity. The methanol extract was suspended in ethyl acetate, and a topoisomerase I inhibitor in the organic soluble fraction was then isolated by silica gel and thin layer chromatography. The topoisomerase I inhibitory compound was indentified as falcarindiol based on the analysis of EI-MS, $^1$H and \ulcornerC NMR spectroscopy. This inhibitory showed cytotoxicity against human leukemia Jurkat T and HL60 cells with an IC\ulcorner value of 7 $\mu\textrm{g}$/ml. These results suggest the possibility of falcarindiol as a new anticancer agent which can be expected to have a synergistic effect on other anticancer drugs. In addition, the present data show that falcarindiol has antifungal, yet not antibacterial, activity.
