In this paper, we investigate the natural frequencies and buckling loads of functionally graded material (FGM) plates and shells, using a quasi-conforming shell element that accounts for the transverse shear strains and rotary inertia. The eigenvalue of the FGM plates and shells are calculated by varying the volume fraction of the ceramic and metallic constituents using a sigmoid function, but their Poisson's ratios of the FGM plates and shells are assumed to be constant. The expressions of the membrane, bending and shear stiffness of FGM shell element are more complicated combination of material properties than a homogeneous element. In order to validate the finite element numerical solutions, the Navier's solutions of rectangular plates based on the first-order shear deformation theory are presented. The present numerical solutions of composite and sigmoid FGM (S-FGM) plates are proved by the Navier's solutionsand various examples of composite and FGM structures are presented. The present results are in good agreement with the Navier's theoretical solutions.

The results of an experimental and analytical study of composite pressure hull on buckling pressure are presented for LRN 300. Composite tensile test was done to know the composite material properties applied FE analysis for URN composite. We predicted the buckling and post buckling analysis of composite laminated cylindrical panels under external compression by using ABAQUS /Standard[Ver 6.4]. To obtain nonlinear static equilibrium solutions for unstable problems, where the load-displacement response can exhibit the type of nonlinear buckling behavior, during periods of the response, the load and/or the displacement may decrease as the solution evolves, used the modified Riks method. The modified Riks method is an algorithm that allows effective solution of such cases [7]. Experiments were conducted to verify the validation of present analysis for cross-ply laminated shells. The shells considered in the study have two different lamination patterns, $[{\pm}45/0/90]_{18s\;and}\;[/0/90]_{18s}$. Cylindrical panel of experiment and analysis have the radius of 200mm, length of 210mm and 60 degree of cutting angle. The critical load from experiment is $69\%$ of that of numerical analysis, because the fracture of matrix was generated before buckling. So URN 300 is not proper to use at the condition under high external pressue.
In this paper, the response of a sandwich cylindrical shell over any sort of boundary conditions and under a general distributed static loading is investigated. The faces and the core are made of some isotropic materials. The faces are modeled as thin cylindrical shells obeying the Kirchhoff-Love assumptions. For the core material it is assumed to be thick and the in-plane stresses are negligible. The governing equations are derived using the principle of the stationary potential energy. Using harmonic differential quadrature method (HDQM) the equations are solved for deformation components. The obtained results primarily are compared against finite element results. Then, the effects of changing different parameters on the stress and displacement components of sandwich cylindrical shells are investigated.
For the aerothermoelastic analysis of cylindrical piezolaminated shells, geometrically nonlinear finite elements based on the multi-field layerwise theory hale been developed. Applying a Han Krumhaar's supersonic piston theory, supersonic flutter analyses are performed for the cylindrical piezolaminted shells subject to thermal stresses and deformations. The possibility to increase flutter boundary and reduce thermoelastic deformations of piezolaminated panels is examined using piezoelectric actuations. Results show that active piezoelectric actuations can effectively increase the critical aerodynamic pressure by retarding the coalescence of flutter modes and compensating thermal stresses.

The dynamic instability of truncated conical shells subjected to dynamic axial load within first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) is examined. The conical shell is made from functionally graded (FG) orthotropic material. In the formulation of problem a dynamic version of Donnell's shell theory is used. The equations are converted to a Mathieu-Hill type differential equation employing Galerkin's method. The boundaries of main instability zones are found applying the method proposed by Bolotin. To verify these results, the results of other studies in the literature were compared. The influences of material gradient, orthotropy, as well as changing the geometric dimensions on the borders of the main areas of the instability are investigated.

Based on third-order shear deformation shell theory, the present paper investigates post-buckling properties of eccentrically stiffened metal foam curved shells/panels having initial geometric imperfectness. Metal foam is considered as porous material with uniform and non-uniform models. The single-curve porous shell is subjected to in-plane compressive loads leading to post-critical stability in nonlinear regime. Via an analytical trend and employing Airy stress function, the nonlinear governing equations have been solved for calculating the post-buckling loads of stiffened geometrically imperfect metal foam curved shell. New findings display the emphasis of porosity distributions, geometrical imperfectness, foundation factors, stiffeners and geometrical parameters on post-buckling properties of porous curved shells/panels.
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of loquat (Eriobotrya japonica Lindl.) leaf powder (LLP) on quality characteristics of dumpling shells. Dumpling shell samples were prepared with wheat flour containing different amounts of LLP, and their characteristics were then investigated. Amylography revealed that the gelatinization temperature of the LLP-wheat flours composite increased, while the initial viscosity at $95^{\circ}C$, viscosity at $95^{\circ}C$ after 15 minutes, and maximum viscosity, all decreased with increasing LLP content. As increasing amounts of LLP were added, the L and a values were reduced, whereas the b value was increased. Moreover, the addition of LLP increased hardness, cohesiveness, and adhesiveness, while it reduced springiness. Overall, sensory evaluation revealed that dumpling shells with 5% LLP were preferred more than other samples.
In this paper, wave propagation of double-bonded Cooper-Naghdi micro sandwich cylindrical shells with porous core and carbon nanotube reinforced composite (CNTRC) face sheets are investigated subjected to multi-physical loadings with temperature dependent material properties. The governing equations of motion are derived by Hamilton's principle. Then, the influences of various parameters such as wave number, CNT volume fraction, temperature change, Skempton coefficient, material length scale parameter, porosity coefficient on the phase velocity of double-bonded micro sandwich shell are taken into account. It is seen that by increasing of Skempton coefficient, the phase velocity decreases for higher wave number and the results become approximately the constant. Also, by increasing of the material length scale parameter, the cut of frequency increases, because the stiffness of micro structure increases. The obtained results for this article can be used to detect, locate and quantify crack.
In this paper the influence of stiffener location, rise/span ratio and fibre orientation on vibration behavior of corner supported hypar shells is studied by using a four-node hybrid stress finite element. The formulation of the element is based on Hellinger-Reissner variational principle. The element is developed by combining a hybrid plane stress element and a hybrid plate element. Benchmark problems are solved to validate the approach and free vibration response of stiffened orthotropic hypar shells is studied both with respect to fundamental frequency and mode shapes by varying the location of stiffeners, rise/span ratio and fiber orientation.
This study examined the quality characteristics of dumpling shells prepared with 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8% mulberry leaf powder. According to the amylograph data, the composite of mulberry leaf powder-wheat flour samples reduced the gelatinization temperatures, viscosities at $95^{\circ}C$, and maximum viscosity with increasing mulberry leaf powder content. The lightness (L) and redness (a) values decreased with increasing mulberry leaf powder content, whereas the yellowness (b) value increased. In addition, the weight, volume, and turbidity increased after cooking. In terms of the textural characteristics, addition of mulberry leaf powder increased the hardness, springiness, cohesiveness, chewiness, and adhesiveness. The DPPH free radical scavenging activity of the dumpling shells increased significantly (p<0.05) with increasing levels of mulberry leaf powder. The taste, chewiness and texture of the dumpling shells prepared with added 4% mulberry leaf powder were preferred. The sensory evaluation showed that the overall preference of the dumpling shell with the addition of 4% mulberry leaf powder was more effective than the control.
