메모리 호출과 연산횟수 감소기법을 이용한 저전력 움직임추정 VLSI 구현 (VLSI Implementation of Low-Power Motion Estimation Using Reduced Memory Accesses and Computations)

  • 저전력 움직임추정은 휴대용 정보단말의 실시간 비디오 코딩에 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 전역탐색 블록정합 방식을 적용한 저전력 움직임추정 알고리즘과 이를 1차원 배열의 VLSI로 구현한 하드웨어 구조를 제안한다. 전역 탐색 블럭정합 방법의 전력소비의 주원인은 많은 연산량과 탐색영역의 프레임 데이터를 호출하는 횟수가 많다는 점이다. 본 논문에서는 두 개의 인접한 참조블럭의 움직임추정 연산을 동시에 병렬로 수행하여 탐색영역의 메모리 호출횟수를 감소시켰으며, 움직임추정시 결과에 영향을 미치지 않는 불필요한 연산을 제거하였다. 제안된 움직임추정 알고리즘을 1차원 PE (processing element) 배열구조의 VLSI로 구현하여 실험한 결과, 제안된 움직임추정기는 기존의 저전력 움직임추정기에 비해 9.3%의 소비전력 감소와 2배 정도의 속도향상이 있음을 확인하였다.

Warping을 이용한 움직임 보상을 통한 3차원 의료 영상의 압축 (Interframe Coding of 3-D Medical Image Using Warping Prediction)

  • 본 논문에서는 3차원 의료 영상의 압축을 위한 인터프레임 부호화 방법을 제안한다. 슬라이스 사이의 변화를 뼈나 조직의 움직임으로 간주하여 움직임 보상 기법을 통해 이전 프레임으로부터 현재 프레임을 예측하고, 변환 부호화를 사용하여 오차 영상을 압축한다. 의료 영상의 슬라이스 사이의 복잡한 변화를 잘 예측하기 위해 동영상 부호화에서 가장 널리 사용되는 블럭 정합 알고리즘 (BMA) 대신 bilinear 변환을 통한 영상 warping을 사용하였다. 이 warping 방법은 슬라이스 사이에서 object가 없어지는 경우 예측 성능이 저하되는데, 이러한 단점을 보완하기 위해 블럭 겹침 움직임 보상 (OBMC) 기법을 결합하였다. 움직임 보상된 오차 영상의 부호화에는 EZW 부호화를 사용하였고, 이 때 각 프레임의 wavelet 계수의 양자화 오차를 동일하게 하여 프레임마다 일정한 화질을 얻도록 하였다. 모의 실험에서 warping을 사용한 인터프레임 부호화는 각 프레임을 독립적으로 부호화하는 방식보다 높은 압축 성능을 보였고, OBMC를 결합함으로써 warping만을 사용했을 때보다 성능이 더 개선되었다.

실험적 해석을 위한 머리-목 형태의 더미 개발 (Development f head-neck complex dummy for experimental study)

  • A head-neck complex dummy, for measuring brain pressure and reaction force in the cervical spine was developed for experimental study related in injury mechanism. Dummy comprised aluminium-casted head with water filled cavity for simulating brain and mechanical neck assembled with six motion segments. Several kinds of experiments (compression, bending, cyclic modulus, relaxation and constant velocity profile) for the developed mechanical neck showed that this neck model is biomechanically reliable compared with in-vitro test results. As an application of developed head-neck complex dummy, shock absorbing properties of protective helmet was chosen. The experiments showed that the maximum pressure increment of brain after impact was tolerable compared with the guide line for mild brain injury pressure (25psi). Constrast to this results, the reaction force in the neck was high enough to produce failure in the cervical spine.

교통사고로 발생한 쇄골 골절로 입원하여 한방복합치료로 호전된 환자 2예 (Two Patients Who Were Hospitalized for Clavicle Fracture Caused by a Traffic Accident and Improved with Korean Medicine Complex Treatment)

  • To report improvement of 2 hospitalized patients who had clavicle fractures due to traffic accident with Korean medicine complex treatment. We collected a data from February 2020 to April 2022. A total of 2 patients were studied and we compared numeric rating scale (NRS), neck disability index (NDI), range of motion (ROM) at admission and discharge date of hospitalization. After receiving an average of 28.5 days of Korean medicine inpatient treatment, both patients had reduced NRS, NDI scores and increased ROM. After Korean medicine complex treatment, 2 patients with clavicle fracture showed to have been effective. But further studies need to be done.

회전 운동 잔여 효과의 확산 현상: 전역적 운동 탐지기의 순응에 대한 증거 (Spreading of motion aftereffect for rotational motion: Evidence of adaptation of global motion detector)

  • 움직이는 패턴을 오랫동안 본 후에 정지된 패턴을 보면. 정지된 패턴이 운동 패턴의 반대 방향으로 움직이는 것으로 지각되는 운동 잔여 효과(motion aftereffect: MAE)가 발생된다. 이 현상에 대한 고전적인 설명과는 달리 복잡운동의 MAE는 운동 순응이 발생되지 않은 영역에까지 확산된다. 본 연구에서는 시각 정보 처리 과정에서 MAE의 확산 현상이 발생되는 신경기제의 상대적인 위치를 알아보기 위해서 하모닉 나선형 패턴을 운동 순응 자극으로 사용하여 고리모양의 창에 제시한 후, 순응이 발생된 고리영역과 순응이 발생되지 않은 안쪽 영역 모두에서 MAE를 측정하였다. 순응자극과 동일한 영상과 거울상을 각각 검사자극으로 사용하여 MAE를 측정하고 두 조건에서 발견된 MAE를 비교하였다. 하모닉 나선형 자극의 특징은 동일 영역에 제시된 원영상과 거울상의 윤곽 방위의 차이가 90도라는 점이다. 이러한 특징에 의해 거울상의 경우 국소 운동 정보를 추출하는 탐지기 수준에서는 순응효과를 기대하기 어렵다. 실험 결과 순응된 영역에서의 MAE 지속시간은 동일상 조건이 거울상 조건보다 더 길게 나타났지만, 운동 순응이 없었던 영역(운동 잔여효과의 확산 영역)에서는 두 조건간 유의한 차이가 발생되지 않았다. 이러한 결과는 복잡운동(complex motion)의 MAE 화산은 국소 운동 정보가 추출되는 V1과 같은 초기 단계에 있는 신경세포의 순응이 아니라 복잡 운동이 처리되는 MSTd 에 있는 신경세포들의 순응에 의해서 발생됨을 시사한다.

Effect of Kinesiology Taping on Hyolaryngeal Complex Movement in Stroke Patient with Dysphagia

  • Background: Kinesiology taping (KT) is a method that helps immediately increase muscle activation, strength and joint stability by being attached to various skeletal muscles and structures of the body. Objectives: To investigate the effect of KT applied below the hyolaryngeal complex on the movement of the hyolaryngeal complex during swallowing in patients with dysphagia after stroke. Design: One-group, pre-post design. Methods: Twenty individuals with dysphagia after stroke participated in this study. KT was applied to the sternum and both clavicles from the hyolaryngeal complex. We analyzed the motion of the hyolaryngeal complex during swallowing with and placebo KT and KT using the Image-J software with videofluoroscopic swallowing study. In addition, a 0-to-10 numerical rating self-report scale was used to check the required effort and resistance felt during swallowing. Results: KT condition showed that the anterior and superior movement of the hyoid bone during swallowing was significantly lower than placebo KT (P<.05, all). Also, KT condition showed that the anterior and superior movement of the larynx during swallowing was significantly lower than placebo KT (P<.05, all). In result of statistical comparison between KT group and placebo KT group, the KT group showed significantly higher self-report scale score than the placebo KT group in terms of two category; the required effort and resistance felt (P<.05, all). Conclusion: This study demonstrated that KT applied below the hyolaryngeal complex inhibits the anterior and superior movement of hyoid bone and larynx during swallowing of patients with dysphagia after stroke.

Study on Moonpool Resonance Effect on Motion of Modern Compact Drillship

  • A drillship is a representative floating offshore installation. The boom in oil and gas field development has dramatically increased the demands for drillships. Drillships have a moonpool in the center area of the ship for the purpose of drilling. This moonpool has an effect on the seakeeping performance of a drillship in the vicinity of the resonance frequency. Because of the moonpool, drillships act in different resonance modes, called the sloshing mode and piston mode. The objective of this study was to find the moonpool effect on the motion of a drillship through the motion analysis of a currently operating modern compact drillship. The predicted resonance frequencies based on Molin's theoretical formula, Fukuda's empirical formula, and BEM-based numerical analysis are compared. The accuracy of the predictions using the theoretical and empirical formulas is compared with the numerical analysis and evaluated. In the case of the piston mode, the difference between the resonance frequency from theoretical formula and the resonance frequency from the numerical analysis is analyzed. The resonance frequency formula for more a complex moonpool geometry such as a moonpool with a cofferdam is necessarily emphasized.

  • Motion tracking and object segmentation are the most fundamental and critical problems in vision tasks suck as motion analysis. An active contour model, snake, was developed as a useful segmenting and tracking tool for rigid or non-rigid objects. Snake is designed no the basis of snake energies. Segmenting and tracking can be executed successfully by energy minimization. In this research, two new paradigms for segmentation and tracking are suggested. First, because the conventional method uses only intensity information, it is difficult to separate an object from its complex background. Therefore, a new energy and design schemes should be proposed for the better segmentation of objects. Second, conventional snake can be applied in situations where the change between images is small. If a fast moving object exists in successive images, conventional snake will not operate well because the moving object may have large differences in its position or shape, between successive images. Snakes's nodes may also fall into the local minima in their motion to the new positions of the target object in the succeeding image. For robust tracking, the condensation algorithm was adopted to control the parameters of the proposed snake model called "adaptive color snake model(SCSM)". The effectiveness of the ACSM is verified by appropriate simulations and experiments.

Vibrational Structure and Predissociation of Ar-CO2 by CO2 Symmetric Stretching Mode Coupled with Ar Motion

  • The computationally simple quantum mechanical method (VSCF-DWB-IOS) has been applied to studying the Ar-$CO_2$ vibrational predissociation phenomenon. The new methodology utilizes the vibrational self-consistent field method to determine the vibrational structure of the van der Waals complex, the distorted-wave Born approximation for dissociating process, and the infinite-order sudden approximation for the continuum dissociating product of $CO_2$. The dissociation due to the coupling of the symmetric stretching vibrational motion of $CO_2$ with the motion of the Ar van der Waals mode has been extensively investigated. The lifetimes of transient excited vibrational states, linewidths of absorption peak, and the rotational state distributions of the product, $CO_2$ have been computed. It has been found that the lifetime of the Ar-$CO_2$ in excited vibrational state is very long compared with that of triatomic van der Waals complexes and the product $CO_2$ carries a major portion of dissociation energy as a rotational energy.

그리스 윤활 소형 이송계 마찰력의 이력현상 측정 및 분석 (Investigation of Friction Hysteresis in Miniaturized Linear Table Lubricated Withgrease)

  • A precision linear motion table plays a crucial role in manufacturing systems used in various industries such as machine tools, semiconductors, and nanofabrication. In particular, one of the most typical mechanisms for a linear motion table is to use a ballscrew and LM guides. However, this mechanism is inevitably influenced by friction because of the relative motion in its joint regions. One of the most complex phenomena in friction is the hysteresis behavior of dynamic friction, which was compared with the steady dynamic friction that was presented using a Stribeck curve in this study. Therefore, we investigated the dynamic friction and its hysteresis behavior using a miniaturized linear table equipped with a ballscrew and LM guides that were lubricated with grease. Subsequently, it could be seen that hysteresis could be considered a time delay after zero-velocity crossing and that it was influenced by acceleration.
