  • Combined models, specified by two or more modeling formalisms, can represent a wide variety of complex systems. This paper describes a methodology for the development of combined models in two model types of discrete event and continuous process. The methodology is based on transformation of continuous state space into discrete one to homomorphically represent dynamics of continuous processes in discrete events. This paper proposes a formal structure which can combine model of the DES and the CS within a framework. The structure employs the DEVS formalism for the DES models and differential or polynomial equations for the CS models. To employ the proposed structure to specify a DEVS/CS combined model, a modeler needs to take the following steps. First, a modeler should identify events in the CS and transform the states of the CS into the DES. Second, a modular employs the formalism to specify the system as the DES. Finally, a moduler developes sub-models for the CS and continguos states of the DES and establishs one-to-one correspondence between the sub-models and such states. The proposed formal structre has been applied to develop a DEVS/CS combined model for the human cardiovascular system. For this, the cardiac cycle is partitioned into a set of phases based on events identified through observation. For each phase, a CS model has been developed and associated with the phase. To validate the DEVS/CS combined model developed, then simulate the model in the DEVSIM + + environment, which is a model simulation results with the results obtained from the CS model simulation using SPICE. The comparison shows that the DEVS/CS combined model adequately represents dynamics of the human heart system at each phase of cardiac cycle.

  • To determine the modal matrix and modal frequency of engine mount system, we most solve so-called eigen-value problem. However eigen-value problem of engine mount system with hydraulic mount can not be solved by general eigne-analysis algorithm because the properties of hydraulic mount vary with frequency. so in this paper the method for modal analysis of rigid body motions of an engine supported by hydraulic mount is proposed. Natural frequencies and mode shapes of this nonlinear system are obtained by using complex exponential method and Laplace transformation method. In time domain, impulse response functions are calculated by (two-sided) discrete inverse Fourier Transformation of forced frequency response functions achieved by Laplace transformation of the differential equation of motion. Considering the fact that frequency response functions synthesized by modal parameters form proposed method are in good agreement with original FRFs, it is proved that the proposed method is very efficient and useful for the analysis of eigne-value problem of hydraulic engine mount system.

  • Emergent Collision Avoidance Systems (CAS's) are beginning to assist drivers by performing specific tasks and extending the limits of driver's perception. As CAS's evolve from simple systems handling discrete tasks to complex systems managing interrelated driving tasks, the risk of failure from hidden causes greatly increases. The successful implementation of such a complex system depends upon a robust software architecture. Host of the difficulty in implementing system arises from interconnections between the components. The CAS architecture presented in this paper focuses on these interconnections to mitigate this problem. Moreover, by constructing the GAS architecture through the composition of existing architectural styles, the resulting system will exhibit predictable qualities. Some of the qualities represent limitations that translate into constraints on the system. Others are beneficial aspects that satisfy stakeholder requirements .

  • An efficient multi-level (EML) optimization algorithm using discrete variables of framed structures is proposed in this paper. For the efficiency of the proposed algorithm multi-level optimization techniques using a decomposition method that separates both system-level and element-level are incorporated in the algorithm In the system-level, to save the numerical efforts an efficient reanalysis technique through approximated structural responses such as moments and frequencies with respect to intermediate variables is proposed in the paper. Sensitivity analysis of dynamic structural response is executed by automatic differentiation (AD) that is a powerful technique for computing complex or implicit derivatives accurately and efficiently with minimal human effort. In the element-level, to use AISC W-sections a section search algorithm is introduced. The efficiency and robustness of the EML algorithm, compared with a conventional multi-level (CML) algorithm and single-level genetic algorithm is successfully demonstrated in the numerical examples.

  • The vibration characteristic analysis of sandwich cylindrical shells subjected with magnetorheological (MR) elastomer and constraining layer are considered in this study. And, the discrete finite element method is adopted to calculate the vibration and damping characteristics of the sandwich cylindrical shell system. The effects of thickness of the MR elastomer, constraining layer, applied magnetic fields on the vibration characteristics of the sandwich shell system are also studied in this paper. Additionally, the rheological properties of the MR elastomer can be changed by applying various magnetic fields and the properties of the MR elastomer are described by complex quantities. The natural frequencies and modal loss factor of the sandwich cylindrical shells are calculated for many designed parameters. The core layer of MR elastomer is found to have significant effects on the damping behavior of the sandwich cylindrical shells.

  • Recently, a variety of methods for the performance improvement of ultra-high speed wideband wireless transmission systems have been suggested. This paper proposes a space-frequency (SF) block coded single side band (SSB) single carrier (SC)-frequency division multiple access (FDMA) transmission system. In the proposed SSB SC-FDMA system, SF block code is implemented with the complex conjugates, which are formed from discrete Fourier transform (DFT) spreading of pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) signals. As a result, transmit diversity gain can be obtained in the proposed SF block coded SSB SC-FDMA system without any significant increase of the system computational complexity. The simulation result shows that the signal-to-noise power ratio (SNR) performance of the proposed SF block coded SSB SC-FDMA system is approximately 4 dB better than the SNR performance of the conventional SSB SC-FDMA system with single transmit antenna at a symbol error rate (SER) of $10^{-2}$.

  • This paper describes system modeling and controller design method in the measured signal by discrete Fourier transform. Transfer function of the second order system is estimated by the dominant parameter which is computed in the magnitude and the phase of Fourier spectrum of the measured signal. In addition, the controller was designed by the estimated transfer function, and the results were compared. The proposed estimation method of transfer function contains only a very simple mathematical process. Therefore, it is effective to design the controller in the measured signal when the output of the system contains the characteristics of complex exponential functions case. The proposed method was applied on Op-Amp system to verify the efficiency and the reliability. The results show that the proposed algorithms are highly applicable to the system modeling and controller design in the measured data.

  • This paper presents intelligent digital redesign method of global approach for hybrid state space fuzzy-model-based controllers. For effectiveness and stabilization of continuous-time uncertain nonlinear systems under discrete-time controller, Takagi-Sugeno(TS) fuzzy model is used to represent the complex system. And global approach design problems viewed as a convex optimization problem that we minimize the error of the norm bounds between nonlinearly interpolated linear operators to be matched. Also by using the power series, we analyzed nonlinear system's uncertain parts more precisely. When a sampling period is sufficiently small, the conversion of a continuous-time structured uncertain nonlinear system to an equivalent discrete -time system have proper reason. Sufficiently conditions for the global state -matching of the digitally controlled system are formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMls). Finally, we prove the effectiveness and stabilization of the proposed intelligent digital redesign method by applying the chaotic Lorentz system.

  • In this paper, the new stability condition of linear discrete interval time-varying systems with time-varying delay time is proposed. The considered system has interval time-varying system matrices for both non-delayed and delayed states with time-varying delay time within given interval values. The proposed condition is derived by using Lyapunov stability theory and expressed by very simple inequality. The restricted stability issue on the interval time-invariant system is expanded to interval time-varying system and a powerful stability condition which is more comprehensive than the previous is proposed. As a results, it is possible to avoid the introduction of complex linear matrix inequality (LMI) or upper solution bound of Lyapunov equation in the derivation of sufficient condition. Also, it is shown that the proposed result can include the many existing stability conditions in the previous literatures. A numerical example in the pe revious works is modified to more general interval system and shows the expandability and effectiveness of the new stability condition.

  • The reaction of $AgClO_{4}$ with acyclic potential tridentate N,N,N',N',N''-pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (pmdeta) has given colorless crystals suitable for X-ray crystallography. The crystal structure ($P2_{1}$/n, a = 14.413(1) $\AA$, b = 25.270(2) $\AA$, c = 16.130(1) $\AA$, b = $103.012(1){^{\circ}}$, V = 5723.7(8) A$\AA^{3}$, Z = 4, R = 0.0349) has been solved and refined. Three silver(I) ions connect four pmdeta ligands to produce discrete complex of $[Ag_3(pmdeta)_4](ClO_4)_3$. A pmdeta ligand is bridged to three silver(I) ions, and three other pmdeta ligands are chelated to each silver(I) center in a tridentate mode. Thus, the product is a rare tri-nuclear silver(I) complex with two different chemical environments. $^{13}C$ NMR and $MAS\;^{13}$C NMR indicate that the tri-nuclear silver(I) complex is not rigid in solution. The contact angles and thermal analyses of the complex are measured and discussed.
