  • On industry highly developed and competition with each company, technology is considered as the one of the most significant variables in the era of technology competition. So, the needs of technology valuation and valuating technology competitiveness are increasing to measure value of company. However, in many cases of valuation tools, elaborate valuation technique is required all the more by reason of difficulty of defining the valuation target, the valuation perspective and the purpose of valuation. This study tried to define valuation framework of technology competitiveness for technology intensive small medium venture company to valuate technology environment and company's capability related with technology synthetically as well as technology itself which company uses. And also the purpose of technology valuation, the purpose of technology competitiveness, basic elements of technology valuation, trend of technology valuation in major countries including Korea are presented and analyzed.

The Technological Competitiveness Analysis of Aircraft-based Industries using Patent Information (특허정보를 활용한 항공기반산업의 기술경쟁력 분석)

  • This paper analyzes the technological competitiveness of aircraft-based industries that are the basis for the development of aircraft industry in Korea. By performing expert interviews with industry specialists in the field of aircraft technology, the paper categorizes eight fields that are fundamental to the development of the aircraft industry. By analyzing patents of G7 countries and Korea made in the US from 1995 to 2006 we were able to identify the technological specificities and competencies of each country. RTA (Revealed Technology Advantage) index and CII (Current Impact Index) are used to examine the technological specificity and technological competence respectively. Finally, by introducing the TCI (Technological Competitiveness Index) the paper is able to consider both the quantitative level and the qualitative level of patents for each field in the aircraft industry. By analyzing the TCI, the paper concludes that Korea has high technological prowess centered around IT industries such as semi-conductors/ electronics component, communication appliances and consumer electronics. Also Korea is relatively competitive in the precision instruments industry.

  • Many theorists have been asserting the advantageous of jikmeip system and disadvantageous of tukjeongmeip system in terms of competitiveness enhancement. But, department store is a business status where service is emphasized instead of price, it is advantageous to secure service competitiveness rather than price competitiveness. Therefore, by utilizing the professional merchandisers of the supplier even without having its own, the department store will keep the advantageous stand unless it is not a large buying system. Due to many items under control, distribution companies usually have limited source of professional merchandiser for each product. Thus, no matter how the importance of MD has been forced, when considering the practical situation, the tukjeongmeip will always have the competitiveness over the jikmeip.

  • Though weight manufacturing has in national gross production is decreasing, it has still a decisive role in economic growth of Korea, and foreign competitiveness of manufacturing has a great influence on our whole economy. Therefore, as this study speculates export competitiveness of manufacturing item by item, the results can be used for selection of strategic export-oriented products. The results of the analysis are summarized as follows: first, products that are found as competitive through analysis of trade specialization indexes are plastic, rubber, fabric, home electronic appliances, computers, communication equipment, automobiles and their spare parts. Second, electronic-electric industry such as semi-conduits, communication equipment, home electronics, computers was decided as advantageous through analysis of comparative advantages at present, while paper, print and publishing, and leather industries were classified as comparatively disadvantageous. Its political implications are presented as follows: Private corporations should develop more advanced technology and government should give more support to secure export competitiveness of manufacturing toward America. Governmental policies should be prepared to induce consistent and daring investment to technology-intensive products for export products with high-added value.

  • The objective of this study is the competitiveness evaluation of oversea construction by country in order to provide preliminary data of government policy in 2013. In result the United States ranked first, followed by China(2nd), Germany(3rd), France(4th), and Spain(5th), while Korea ranked 7th overall. In particular, Korea's competitiveness in the construction infrastructures by country ranking(8th) was lower than the competency evaluation results of construction companies by country, therein ranking 7th.

  • There are numerous researches being studied regarding Electronic Commerce (EC), that is one of the hottest issues for the 21 century in the various areas such as management, engineering and science; etc, This paper concerns the logistics functions which are essential for completing a commerce process even under the EC environment. Even though both the traditional and the electronic commerce via internet share many common problems regarding logistics, new logistical issues are generated as the EC is being popularized. We study the logistics competitiveness under the EC environment and provide ways to improve the logistical performance. We first point the emerging logistical paradigm to check the issues under EC. Next, logistics competitiveness factors are provided. Finally we propose several ways for the logistical performance and cost perspective.

  • The purpose of the study is to test differences in consumers' satisfactions on products' competitiveness by domestic distribution channels of foreign clothing brands. Domestic distribution channels of foreign clothing brand consist of 5 channels as multi channel strategy. And product's competitiveness consists of prices, qualities, brand image and services. The results from the research show that there are differences in satisfaction by distribution channels. And they imply that distribution channel strategy is used with 5 channels in Korea, which are emphasized with different products' competitiveness. The contribution of the study is to analyze differences in consumer's satisfaction by 5 channels with data from consumer's perspectives, not firms' viewpoints.

  • How can business ecosystems be a source of firm's competitiveness? Is corporate social responsibility (CSR) is an investment activity for building sustainable business ecosystems? The purpose of this research is to identify the relationship between CSR, social value, sustainable business ecosystems, and firm's competitiveness by introducing a mediating role of social capital. We conducted in-depth interviews with seven informants from two domestic firms and four oversea firms. Three propositions were drawn by analyzing qualitative data collected from the interviews and literature review. Various activities creating social value including CSR and CSV (Creating Shared Value) are positively associated with sustainable business ecosystems. Firm accumulates social capital of the business ecosystem through creation of social value. Finally, the social capital of business ecosystem has a positive influence on firm's competitiveness. Implications were suggested for academics and practitioners.

  • The information technology, in the digital economy era, does a very important role not only for the country's administrative management innovation but also for the business and for the everyday life. Specifically, the e-business for the company or organization is defined as "using the Internet and IT, rescheduling of business process management activities to increase productivity and efficiency and to create new business opportunities." Thanks to the Korea's recent efforts, overall level of informatization and digitalization is able to receive high praise. But the e-business readiness (e-readiness) level is still expected a lot of room for improvement. In this paper, I try to analyze the informatization level of Korea's by the EIU's e-business readiness index and IT industry competitiveness index, to prepare a full-scale e-business era of global competitiveness through any preparation that could do to improve the situation from the analysis of statistical data.
