Purpose - The purpose of this study was to explores how CEO general human capital, one of the most critical issues in recent research, affects compensation schemes. Design/methodology/approach - This study collected the CEOs of S&P500 companies from 2001 to 2009 and contains 4,155 CEO-firm-year observations and 704 different CEOs. Findings - First, only contingent bonus is affected by general human capital and reputation. Second, the career concerns of CEOs are relevant, especially when explaining CEO tenure. Third, we offer an alternative view of what determines the level of cash compensation schemes and the factors that affect the running of a firm. Fourth, we also suggest that the increase in general human capital can be explained by the increase in its relative importance in managing a modern firm. Overall, the results of this study do not only contribute to academics but also important to boards and shareholders. Research implications or Originality - This study intends to fill the gap in the extant literature by examining the relationship between general human capital and compensation schemes.First, we add to the compensation literature by arguing that a cash compensation scheme is efficient for generalist CEOs. We break down CEO cash compensation schemes into fixed and contingent bonus compensation and investigate whether general human capital differentially affects CEO cash compensation schemes, and thus, the sensitivity to unequal pay for human capital. Second, we contribute to the reputation literature by arguing that CEO perceived reputation also affects CEO compensation schemes.
Purpose: The present research is to explore and investigate the meaningful difference between job-based pay and skill-based pay in the current literature to shed light on the advantages and caveats of two compensation approach, providing direction for human resource practitioners looking to develop efficient and fair compensation plans. Research design, data and methodology: The methodology based on Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) was used for this research. The PRISMA technique is generally considered the gold standard since it guarantees openness, repeatability, and rigor. Studies comparing salaries based on work duties versus those based on individual skills published in English and accepted for publication in peer-reviewed journals are eligible for inclusion. Results: According to the comprehensive literature analysis, the present research provides clear comparison between Job-based pay and skilled-based pay, pointing out a similarity and four differences (1. Criteria for pay determination, 2. Flexibility, 2. Job Scope, and 4. Career progression. Conclusions: The result of the current research implies that human resource professionals would be well to learn the effects of various compensation structures on career advancement, and suggests for them that employees can take advantage of chances to advance in their careers based on right compensation schemes.
This paper is based on the compensation of the literature. In other words, the problem of affection Ginyeo & Ginyeo-sijo would review that to be considered compensation of the literature. Specifically, the relationship between maternal oppression and Ginyeo & Ginyeo-sijo. Prior to the detailed discussions looked at the relationship between women and motherhood, through the overall Classic-siga(古典詩歌). As a result, it took the theme of motherhood from a variety of genres, as it were, Hyangga(향가), Goryeo-Sokyo(고려속요), Gasa(가사), Folk songs etc. But Ginyeo groups position was different. The Ginyeo groups was limited or no chance of maternal expressions. This also affects creative Sijo. So the Ginyeo-sijo has a few characteristics. In terms of the compensation of oppression, characteristics of the Ginyeo-sijo can be categorized into three types. These are dedication of a plaintive love, bold expression of desire, wittily linguistic playfulness. Dedication of a plaintive love is a very passive, and the general pattern of the Ginyeo-sijo. Bold expression of desire, this is the love the theme is the same. But this is a positive. And then, wittily linguistic playfulness is a rhetorical expression. It was used as a method of ambiguous and homophone. In short, for Ginyeo groups would have been a chance of roused to action(發憤), that is oppression of motherhood. And this would contribute to the development of Ginyeo-sijo. As the experience of exile literature developed in isolation of the Scholar-official(사대부).
The purpose of this paper is to examine the relation between executive excesss compensation and credit rating. According to the prior research which show the negative effects of excess compensation on a firm's future performance, this paper expects the negative effect of excess compensation on credit rating. Using a sample of Korean listed non-financial firms from 2014 to 2019, I perform the multivariate regressions analysis of excess compensation on credit rating. I find that excess compensation is negatively related to credit rating when executive compensation exceed expected executive compensation. Moreover, I find that the result is constant when a fim belongs to small-medium business. These results show that credit rating is affected by executive excess compensation and the relation could be different by the type of firm's size. Therefore, this study contributes to the literature by suggesting the possibility that capital market is aware of negative effect of executive excess compensation.
Purpose: A national long-term care system for elderly and the disabled has its unique evolution in each country. Japan, Germany and the United States may be the typical examples of respective social insurance system. This paper reviews the counterpart examples of Japan, Germany and the United States and looks at their accumulated long-term care system experiences and personal care system under workers' compensation. Methods: Literature review and website searching were conducted. Key words as 'workers' compensation insurance', 'personal care benefit' and 'long term care' were used in searching the related literatures. Results: Though the personal care benefit under current Workers'Compensation in Korea is very similar to Japan's, the long-term care system of Korea is not as well established. Germany and the United States have the provision of personal care benefit for injured workers within long term care system. Conclusions: We recommend some key issues to take into account for improving personal care benefit system in workers' compensation in Korea as follows: providing a comprehensive coverage through the linkage of long term care, introducing an assessment & evaluation system for the appropriate benefits, establishing insurer's role for quality management of personal care service, and developing a policy for family caregivers.
The main purpose of this study is the comprehensive review of the compensation system that affects the employee's job satisfaction and turnover intention. This study is mainly designed to review previous studies of the impact of compensation system, and suggest meaningful implications in relation to firm's performance. It is clarified that compensation is positively related to firm's performance, and the perceived equity mediates the relationship between compensation and performance. It is suggested that an empirical research should be done based on the formulated propositions of this research.

This study aims to investigate the determinants of turnover intention among company managers in Indonesia. Based on the literature, this research hypothesizes that job satisfaction is a mediator in the relationship between compensation, career and turnover intention of companies in Indonesia. Respondents as research samples are grouped into middle managers from two industries, namely, manufacturing and services. A total of 215 questionnaires were returned from middle managers. Data analysis used Structural Equation Model - Linear Structural Relationship (SEM LISREL). The research results prove that compensation and career have a positive effect on job satisfaction. Compensation, career, and job satisfaction have a negative impact on turnover intention. Compensation is known to be one of the motivating drivers of workers around the world. From this study it can be said that, if middle manager teachers are well compensated, they will be encouraged, persuaded and will have positive feelings toward their work, and this will result in staying put. It works also with career and job satisfaction. If both variables are considered carefully, intention to move tends to be low. These findings provide new insights into the field of international human resources in developing multinational companies and service businesses.
The purpose of this study investigates the relation between corporate life cycle and management compensation. The analysis is performed by comparing the compensation level and pay-performance-sensitivity (PPS) at each life cycle based on Korean data from 2003 to 2014. The results show that regarding compensation level, mature stage has the highest mean value of compensation and compensation level drops after mature stage. In introduction stage, growth and decline stages, compensation is not sensitive to accounting performance. In a while, in mature stage, management compensation varies with accounting performance more significantly than stock performance. In additional analysis, the results indicate that the finding is not designated from growth opportunities and the relation differs when the firm is included in a conglomerate. These findings contribute to the literature by providing additional evidence to understand for compensation and the corporate life cycle studies.
The brightness of the Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display is controlled by thin-film transistors (TFTs). Regardless of the materials and the structures of TFTs, an OLED suffers from the instable threshold voltage (Vth) of a TFT during operation. When designing an OLED pixel with circuit simulation tool such as SPICE, a designer needs to take Vth shift into account to improve the reliability of the circuit and various compensation methods have been proposed. In this paper, the effect of the compensation circuits from two typical OLED pixel circuits proposed in the literature are studied by the transient simulation with a SPICE tool in which the stretched-exponential time dependent Vth shift function is implemented. The simulation results show that the compensation circuits improve the reliability at the beginning of each frame, but Vth shifts from all TFTs in a pixel need to be considered to improve long-time reliability.

Differential shortenings of columns in a highrise building must be considered in the design process to avoid unexpected damages in structural and nonstructural elements. While research activity has been reported in the literature on the development of estimation algorithms or prediction procedures of elastic and inelastic column shortenings, no algorithms or methods for compensation of differential shortenings. In this paper a compensation method for differential column shortenings in a high-rise is formulated as an optimization problem The simulated annealing algorithm is used to find optimal solutions. The performance of the proposed method is presented by using the well known examples developed by PCA.
