The Voronoi diagram of spheres and power diagram have been known as powerful tools to analyze spatial characteristics of weighted points, and these structures have variety range of applications including molecular spatial structure analysis, location based optimization, architectural design, etc. Due to the fact that both diagrams are based on different distance metrics, one has better usability than another depending on application problems. In this paper, we compare these diagrams in various situations from the user's viewpoint, and show the Voronoi diagram of spheres is more effective in the problems based on the Euclidean distance metric such as nearest neighbor search, path bottleneck locating, and internal void finding.
The operation of double deck train have increased in many countries such as Japan france, and the Netherlands as efficient, safe and convenient alternative transportation systems. Because of continuous concentration of population into Seoul metropolitan and serious traffic jam, the number of passengers using the commuter train have been increased rapidly. Considering these situations, we can find one of the solutions for heavy traffic problems through double deck trains. Stainless steel, and aluminum extruded panel are used to reduce the weight of double deck train. In this paper we compare the results of structural analysis of the double deck car body structures with Al extruded panels and stainless steel. We hope the results of this study may be used as basic guidelines in designing double deck trains in the future.
In this paper, we are considered various possible disturbance conditions in order to design controller, $H_{\infty}$ optimal controller is successfully designed to control in such as situations. To do this, we are determined weighting function and design parameter $\gamma$ to method of trial and error by Glover-Doyle algorithm. To compare with $H_{\infty}$-PSS and conventional-PSS which is applied in nominal system and load variations, the dynamic characteristics of $H_{\infty}$-PSS controller was verified which has a good response.
Multivariate control charts are widely used to monitor the performance of a multivariate process over time to maintain control of the process. Although existing multivariate control charts provide control limits to monitor the process and detect any extraordinary events, it is a challenge to identify the causes of an out-of-control alarm when the number of process variables is large. Several fault identification methods have been developed to address this issue. However, these methods require a normality assumption of the process data. In the present study, we propose a bootstrapped-based $T^2$ decomposition technique that does not require any distributional assumption. A simulation study was conducted to examine the properties of the proposed fault identification method under various scenarios and compare it with the existing parametric $T^2$ decomposition method. The simulation results showed that the proposed method produced better results than the existing one, especially in nonnormal situations.
Rubber wheel-type AGT has two major kinds of bogie; one is the bogie type and the other and passenger loads. This paper deals with the statics analysis for two types of bogie frame subjected to combined external forces, as well as independent ones specified in UIC 515-4. Furthermore, the dynamics analysis is performed under vibrational loading conditions so as to compare dynamic characteristics, Numerical results by using commercial packages, Ⅰ-DEAS and NASTRAN show that maximum stresses do not exceed the yielding level of material used for both bogies. From an overall viewpoint of strength, the bogie type turns out to be superior to the steering type except the case of a lateral loading. It is also observed that the steering type shows a be stiffened. It is strongly anticipated that vibrational fatigue analysis should be carried out under realistic loading conditions closely matching to situations such as running surface and lateral clearances along the guideway.

This study developed and evaluated a learning model to improve collaborative problem-solving skills for nursing students taking physiology courses. This one-group pretest-posttest design used the jigsaw cooperative learning method on 30 nursing students from one local university. We analyzed the effect of a cooperative problem- solving learning model using SPSS 21.0 to compare changes in the students' collaborative self-efficacy, problem-solving abilities, and team-member exchange. As a result, the participants showed significant increases in collaborative self-efficacy, problem-solving ability, and team-member exchange after experiencing cooperative problem- solving learning model. Therefore, we will help nursing students improve their communication skills by enhancing their collaborative self-efficacy and help them solve problems effectively in conflict situations.

When multiple classifications and regression trees are combined, tree-based ensemble models, such as random forest (RF) and Bayesian additive regression trees (BART), are produced. We compare the model structures and performances of various ensemble models for regression settings in this study. RF learns bootstrapped samples and selects a splitting variable from predictors gathered at each node. The BART model is specified as the sum of trees and is calculated using the Bayesian backfitting algorithm. Throughout the extensive simulation studies, the strengths and drawbacks of the two methods in the presence of missing data, high-dimensional data, or highly correlated data are investigated. In the presence of missing data, BART performs well in general, whereas RF provides adequate coverage. The BART outperforms in high dimensional, highly correlated data. However, in all of the scenarios considered, the RF has a shorter computation time. The performance of the two methods is also compared using two real data sets that represent the aforementioned situations, and the same conclusion is reached.

Unit distributions are frequently used in probability theory and statistics to depict meaningful variables having values between zero and one. Using convenient transformation, the unit inverse exponentiated weibull (UIEW) distribution, which is equally useful for modelling data on the unit interval, is proposed in this study. Quantile function, moments, incomplete moments, uncertainty measures, stochastic ordering, and stress-strength reliability are among the statistical properties provided for this distribution. To estimate the parameters associated to the recommended distribution, well-known estimation techniques including maximum likelihood, maximum product of spacings, least squares, weighted least squares, Cramer von Mises, Anderson-Darling, and Bayesian are utilised. Using simulated data, we compare how well the various estimators perform. According to the simulated outputs, the maximum product of spacing estimates has lower values of accuracy measures than alternative estimates in majority of situations. For two real datasets, the proposed model outperforms the beta, Kumaraswamy, unit Gompartz, unit Lomax and complementary unit weibull distributions based on various comparative indicators.
We investigate the evolution of the galactic spin of spiral galaxies in various dynamical situations using the N-body/SPH simulations. To do this we first construct a Milky Way-like galaxy model. Then we perform both prograde and retrograde encounters between the spiral galaxy pair. We also conduct a simulation with our galaxy model in isolation for comparison. We find that the circular motion of the disk stars in the inner region of the galaxy decrease clearly when the galaxy experiences strong prograde interactions. Such decrease has not found when the galaxy experiences weak or no interactions. We compare our simulation results with recent observational studies on the galactic spins.
