Health information-seeking behavior (HISB) is active need-fulfillment behavior whereby health information is obtained from diverse sources, such as the media, and has emerged as an important issue within the transforming medical environment and the rise of medical consumers. However, little is known about the factors that affect HISB and its associations, and the health outcome of HISB. The aim of this study was to examine individual and social contextual factors associated with HISB and to systematically review their effects on health status among post-treatment cancer patients. Individual determinants of HISB included demographic factors, psychosocial factors, perceived efficacy and norms, and health beliefs. Contextual determinants of HISB encompassed community characteristics, neighborhood social capital, and media advocacy. Improving through factors on these two levels, HISB raised individuals' self-care management skills and medical treatment compliance, and enhanced shared decision-making and medical treatment satisfaction. Moreover, because HISB can differ according to individuals' social contextual conditions, it can give rise to communication inequalities. Because these can ultimately lead to health disparities between groups, social interest in HISB and balanced HISB promotion strategies are necessary.

Models of single-server queues with vacations have been widely used to study the performance of many computer communi-cation and production systems. In this paper we analyze an M/G/1 queue with generalized vacations and exhaustive service. This sys-tem has been shown to possess a stochastic decomposition property. That is the customer waiting time in this system is distributed as the sum of the waiting time in a regular M/G/1 queue with no va-cations and the additional delay due to vacations. Herein a general formula for the additional delay is derived for a wide class of vacation policies. The formula is also extended to cases with multiple types of vacations. Using these new formulas existing results for certain vacation models are easily re-derived and unified.

The system performance improvement in dispersion managed (DM) links combined with optical phase conjugator (OPC) for compensating for optical signal distortion due to group velocity dispersion and nonlinear fiber effects has been reported. However, in DM link combined OPC, the equalities of the lengths of single-mode fibers (SMFs), the length of dispersion compensating fibers (DCFs), the dispersion coefficient of DCF, and the residual dispersion per span (RDPS) with respect to an OPC restrict a flexible link configuration. Thus, in this paper, we propose a flexible optical link configuration with inequalities of link parameters, the so-called "pseudo-symmetric configuration." Simulation results show that, in the restricted RDPS range of 450 ps/nm to 800 ps/nm, the improvement in the system performance of the proposed pseudo-symmetrically configured optical links is better than that of the asymmetrically configured optical links. Consequently, we confirmed that the proposed pseudo-symmetric configuration is effective and useful for implementing a reconfigurable long-haul wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) network.

모든 국민에 대한 기본통신의 보편적 서비스 제공 정책에 힘입어 일반 공중전화망에 의한 기본 통신 서비스 부문에서의 지역 간의 격차는 상당히 해소되었으나, 최근 정보화가 급격히 추진됨에 따라 고도 정보통신분야의 서비스에 있어서는 지역별로 편중현상이 발생하고 있다. 특히, 도서지역은 환해성과 격리성 등의 지리적 요인 및 인구밀도, 소득 및 통화량 등이 육지에 비해 현저히 낮은 관계로 가입자망 고도화가 이루어지지 않고 있다. 이에 따라 도서지역은 정보화의 소외 지역으로 낡게되어 지역 간의 발전격차가 심화됨은 물론 다가오는 해양시대를 능동적으로 대처하는데 있어서 커다란 문제점을 안고 있다. 본 논문은 현재 우리나라 도서지역 통신망의 구성 운용현황 및 문제점 등을 분석하고 도서 주민에게 고도 정보서비스를 경제적, 효율적으로 제공하기 위한 가입자 망 고도화 방안에 대해 검토하였다.

수화를 사용하는 농아인은 의사소통의 제약에 의해 사회적인 불평등과 금전적 손실을 겪고 있다. 이러한 이유로 본 연구에서는 농아인의 원활한 의사소통을 위해 8개의 근전도와 1개의 관성센서로 구성된 암밴드 센서를 이용하여 실시간으로 미국 수화를 인식하는 알고리즘을 개발하였다. 개발된 알고리즘의 성능 검증은 11명의 피험자를 통해 진행하였으며, 패턴 분류기 학습은 훈련 데이터베이스 크기를 증가시키면서 진행하였다. 실험 결과, 개발된 패턴 인식 알고리즘은 동작 별 20개의 훈련 데이터베이스에서 97%이상의 정확도를 가졌으며, 30개의 훈련 데이터베이스에서 99%이상의 정확도를 보였다. 이를 통해 본 연구에서 제안하는 암밴드 센서를 이용한 수화 인식 알고리즘의 실용성과 우수성을 확인하였다.

2009 개정 교육과정과 2015 개정 교육과정 수학과 교육목표에서 실생활에서의 수학의 활용도에 대해 강조하고 있음에도 실제 학교 현장에서는 그에 대한 인식이 매우 낮다. 이에 본 연구에서는 수학적 연결성 관점에 중점을 둔 교육과정에 주목할 필요가 있음을 인식하고, NCTM(1989, 2000) 규준 중에서 연결성 관점에 중점을 두고 문제해결 능력 강화와 수학적 의사소통능력을 향상시키기 위해서 1990년부터 꾸준히 개발된 CMP 교육과정을 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위해 수정, 보완을 거쳐 2014년 세 번째로 출간된 CMP 교과서를 방정식 부등식과 함수 단원 중심으로 분석하였다. 첫째, Janvier(1987)의 함수 표현 양식(상황 언어적 서술, 표, 그래프, 공식)을 활용한 새로운 분석틀을 사용하여 연결성과 관련한 분석을 하였고, 둘째, 수학의 다른 단원, 다른 영역, 타 교과목 및 실생활 내용간의 연결성과 관련하여 분석하였다. 그 결과 CMP 교과서에는 새로운 개념, 원리를 제시할 때나 문제 풀이 활동을 할 때 상황에 맞는 다양한 실생활 소재가 사용되고 있었다. Janvier(1987)의 함수 표현 양식에 따른 12가지의 연결 과정이 다양하게 제시되어 있었고, 방정식과 함수, 부등식과 함수와의 관계, 타 교과목 및 실생활 내용간의 연결성도 구체적인 상황으로 표현되어 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

본 연구에서는 상태변수에 시간지연을 갖는 시간지연 시스템의 모델 차수 축소를 취급한다. 시간 지연 시스템에 대한 가제어성 그래미안과 가관측성 그래미안을 정의하고 균형화된 상태공간 구현을 소개한다. 선형 행렬 부등식의 해를 이용하여 모델 차수 축소 방법과 차수 축소 오차의 상한치를 제시한다. 본 연구에서 제시한 방법의 효용성을 예시하기 위하여 수치예를 수행한다.

Traditionally, the scarce and expensive resources in communication networks has been the bandwidth of transmission facilities; accordingly, the techniques used for networking and switching have been chosen so as to optimize the efficient use of that resource. One of them is the packet switching for data communications, which is much different from the circuit switching. It allows multiple users to share the data network facilities and bandwidth, rather than providing specific amounts of dedicated bandwidth to each users. One main challenge therefore has been to design and build cost-effective packet switching networks. In this paper, we develop a mathematical programming medel and heuristic algorithm for designing the packet switching networks with hop-count constraints. To develop an efficient heuristic, we apply the Lagrangian relaxation method. Some valid inequalities, which have been known as the tight constraints, are considered to improve the bound for Lagrangian sub-problem. The computational experiments show that the performance of the proposed heuristic is very satisfactory in both the speed and the quality of design solutions generated.

This paper deals with the consensus problem for multi-agent linear dynamic systems with parameter uncertainties. All the agents are identical high-order linear systems with parameter uncertainties and their state information is exchanged through a communication network. It is shown that a consensus is achieved if there exists a feasible solution to a set of linear matrix inequalities obtained for a simultaneous stabilization problem for multiple systems. A numerical example is presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This papaer deals with a model reduction problem for linear systems with time varying parameters. For this problem, a controllability Grammian and an observability Grammian are introduced and computed by solving linear matrix inequalities. Using the controllability/observability Grammian, a balanced state space realization for linear parameter varying systems is obtained. From the balanced state space realization, a reduced model can be obtained by truncating not only states but also time varying parameters and an upper bound of the model reduction error is derived as well.
