  • CPS219, a new concept compound composed of coffee (CO), Pueraria Tomsonii flower (PF), and Sambou bamboo saltTM (BS), was developed as a coffee beverage to alleviate menopausal symptoms. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the anti-oxidant and menopausal alleviating effects of CPS219 combined as the optimal ratio of each component selected through sensory evaluation and blind consumer test. For CPS219, the optimal ratio of CO, PF, and BS was determined to be 1:0.1:0.017 through various sensory evaluations and blind consumer tests. CPS219 significantly enhanced the superoxide dismutase-like activity compared to the CO or CO plus PF (CP). The proliferation of MCF-7 cells was considerably increased after 24 hours by treatment with CO, CP, or CPS219, but only CPS219 significantly boosted the proliferation of MCF-7 cells after 48 hours. Moreover, CPS219 had an estrogen-like effect by dramatically increasing the expression of estrogen receptor-β mRNA in MCF-7 cells but not CO and CP. Treatment of MCF-7 cells with CO, CP, or CPS219 did not cause any cytotoxicity. In conclusion, these findings imply that anti-oxidant and estrogen-like properties of CPS219 can be used to prevent and cure postmenopausal symptoms.

  • Recently, malicious code is not a single technique, but several techniques are combined and merged, and only important parts are extracted. As new malicious codes are created and transformed, attack patterns are gradually diversified and attack targets are also diversifying. In particular, the number of damage cases caused by malicious actions in corporate security is increasing over time. However, even if attackers combine several malicious codes, the APIs for each type of malicious code are repeatedly used and there is a high possibility that the patterns and names of the APIs are similar. For this reason, this paper proposes a classification technique that finds patterns of APIs frequently used in malicious code, calculates the meaning and similarity of APIs, and determines the level of risk.

  • The coast of BiIn Bay, Seocheon, is the potential site for the field-trip learning program. This article is written in the viewpoint of geographical and environmental education. In this study, it is tried to describe geomorphological landscapes of BiIn Bay Seocheon-gun relating with it's physiognomy, based on the Dasa-ri and Songrim-ri coastal sanddunes and the like. Although landforms like tidal flats and rock cliff constitute prominent landscape features in this area, other features such as beaches, coastal dunes, and coastal plains have various ramifications for human communities. Tidal flats, beaches and coastal dunes are formed by the combined actions of longshore current, tidal flows, waves and winds. To some extent, the erosion of sandy coast has been a global phenomenon. Anthropogenic impacts are involved in the transformation of landform. Most favorable field-trip course of BiIn Bay is from Songrim-ri through Dasa-ri and Shinhap-ri to Maryang-ri. This program about coastal landforms in BiIn Bay will contribute not only for educational meanings but also for satisfying the student' curiosity and interest. Also, this field-trip learning program will be suitable for over 4th grade elementary school students and middle school students.

  • It has been widely said in Korea that early administrations of Cervi cornu parvum (deer antler) to febrile infants affect brain functions. Traditional Oriental Medicine states that the head is easily affected by fever and only an excess of heat causes headaches. Traditional Oriental Medicine also states that Cervi cornu parvum cannot be used in febrile conditions. With the aim of investigating different febrile response to LPS, experiments using intravenous injection of LPS have been carried out on Cervi comu parvum(CCP) and Soahbohyul - tang combined with Cervi comu parvum(SB-CCP) administered rabbits. Experiments were also conducted to evaluate the effects of early administration of CCP on learning and memory in 3 week old rats with LPS fever. These were evaluated by using the Morris water maze and the radial arm maze. Changes in body weight were also observed during this period. The results of these experiments are as follows. 1. In the experiments with febrile rabbits, the CCP and SB-CCP administered group showed statistically significant reductions of fever (p<0.05). 2. In the experiments with febrile rabbits, CCP and SB-CCP administered rabbits resulted in the tendency of lower body temperatures and shorter fever periods than the control group. 3. There were no differences of mean body weight and fever patterns among the 4 groups in the experiments on young rats with LPS fever. 4. There was no statistical difference of mean response latencies among the rats in Group I (DDW administered), GroupIII (CCP administered), and groupIV (SB-CCP administered) in the Morris water maze. However, Group Ⅱ (the scopolamine administered group) showed delayed latencies on the second day of the first session (p<0.05), and the second and third day of the second session (p< 0.05). 5. There were no statistical differences of mean response latencies among the rats in Group I, III and Ⅳ in the radial arm maze, but Group Ⅱ showed delayed latencies on the first and third day of the first session (p<0.05). 6. There was no influence from the administration of CCP and SB-CCP on the general behavior of the rats in Irwin´s test. These results suggest that Cervi cornu parvum and Soahbohyul - tang combined with Cervi comu parvum have anti-pyretic actions on LPS fever. The results also suggest that these drugs have no influence on learning and memory in young rats with LPS fever in the Morris water maze and the radial arm maze.

  • Recently, reinforcement learning combined with deep neural network technology has achieved remarkable success in various fields such as board games such as Go and chess, computer games such as Atari and StartCraft, and robot object manipulation tasks. However, such deep reinforcement learning describes states, actions, and policies in vector representation. Therefore, the existing deep reinforcement learning has some limitations in generality and interpretability of the learned policy, and it is difficult to effectively incorporate domain knowledge into policy learning. On the other hand, dNL-RRL, a new relational reinforcement learning framework proposed to solve these problems, uses a kind of vector representation for sensor input data and lower-level motion control as in the existing deep reinforcement learning. However, for states, actions, and learned policies, It uses a relational representation with logic predicates and rules. In this paper, we present dNL-RRL-based policy learning for transportation mobile robots in a manufacturing environment. In particular, this study proposes a effective method to utilize the prior domain knowledge of human experts to improve the efficiency of relational reinforcement learning. Through various experiments, we demonstrate the performance improvement of the relational reinforcement learning by using domain knowledge as proposed in this paper.

  • Five bases for of highways are sight distance, vehicle stability, driver comfort, drainage and aesthetics. Among these bases, the sight distance is the most critical one in the highway alignment design. It is certain that highways and drivers' observation actions are 3-dimensional in nature. But, the highway alignment design and the sight distance analysis have been performed on 2-dimensional planes because of various constraints and complexity of calculating 3-dimensional sight distance. The purpose of this study is to derive a model for determining exact available sight distance in 3-D combined horizontal and vertical alignments. Application of the model is illustrated using numerical examples. The proposed model should be useful in quantifying the criteria for 3-D highway alignments.

  • Low rise building roofs can be subjected to large fluctuating pressures during a tropical cyclone resulting in fatigue failure of cladding. Following the damage to housing in Tropical Cyclone Tracy in Darwin, Australia, the Darwin Area Building Manual (DABM) cyclic loading test criteria, that loaded the cladding for 10000 cycles oscillating from zero to a permissible stress design pressure, and the Experimental Building Station TR440 test of 10200 load cycles which increased in steps to the permissible stress design pressure, were developed for assessing building elements susceptible to low cycle fatigue failure. Recently the 'Low-High-Low' (L-H-L) cyclic test for metal roofing was introduced into the Building Code of Australia (2007). Following advances in wind tunnel data acquisition and full-scale wind loading simulators, this paper presents a comparison of wind-induced cladding damage, from a "design" cyclone proposed by Jancauskas, et al. (1994), with current test criteria developed by Mahendran (1995). Wind tunnel data were used to generate the external and net pressure time histories on the roof of a low-rise building during the passage of the "design" cyclone. The peak pressures generated at the windward roof corner for a tributary area representative of a cladding fastener are underestimated by the Australian/New Zealand Wind Actions Standard. The "design" cyclone, with increasing and decreasing wind speeds combined with changes in wind direction, generated increasing then decreasing pressures in a manner similar to that specified in the L-H-L test. However, the L-H-L test underestimated the magnitude and number of large load cycles, but overestimated the number of cycles in the mid ranges. Cladding elements subjected to the L-H-L test showed greater fatigue damage than when experiencing a five hour "design" cyclone containing higher peak pressures. It is evident that the increased fatigue damage was due to the L-H-L test having a large number of load cycles cycling from zero load (R=0) in contrast to that produced during the cyclone.

  • For the prediction of the shear strength of reinforced concrete members subjected to axial force, this paper presents a truss model, Transformation Angle Truss Model (TATM), that can predict the shear behavior of reinforced concrete members subjected to combined actions of shear, axial force, and bending moment. In TATM, as axial compressive stress increases, crack angle decreases and concrete contribution due to the shear resistance of concrete along the crack direction increases in order to consider the effect of the axial force. To verify if the prediction results of TATM have an accuracy and reliability for the shear strength of reinforced concrete members subjected to axial forces, the shear test results of a total of 67 RC members subjected to axial force reported in the technical literatures were collected and compared with TATM and existing analytical models(MCFT RA-STM and FA-STM). As a result of comparing with experimental and theoretical results, the test results was better predicted by TATM with 0.94 in average value of $\tau_{test}/\tau_{ana}$. and $11.2\%$ in coefficient of variation than other truss models. And theoretical results obtained from TATM were not effect by steel capacity ratio, axial force, shear span-to-depth ratio, and compressive steel ratio.
