  • The Wireless Internet services widely spread out with the developments of CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) networks and wireless units. In contrast to the telecommunication network, WPAN (Wireless Personal Area Network) enables to transmit data and voice in personal area. Although WPAN technologies are commercially utilized, the combined services with COMA network are not so poplar up to now. Various services can be provided using the combination between COMA and WPAN. This paper presents the practical and united model between COMA and WPAN. Specially, the main focus of this research lies on the design of the Middle-ware system of a handset which could be managing both COMA and WPAN. This system used Bluethooth by WPAN. For the devices with the proposed WPAN Middle-ware, service areas of the COMA network can be expanded to WPAN, various services can be realized by the transmission of data and voice, and consequently, the user computing environment could be improved.

  • Since there are two-different observational constraints for the lunar exosphere data, it is interesting to find the best exospheric model that can account for the observed characteristics of the lunar coma and tail simultaneously (Lee & Kim, 2017).The characteristics of the lunar exosphere can be constrained by comparing simulated models with observational data of the coma and tail. In this work, considering effects of triple sodium sources (two dayside sources: a low- and a high-velocity component; and an Isotropic source component), we present time-dependent simulations showing initial conditions around the lunar coma and the final stage of the lunar tail. Based on an updated 3-D lunar exosphere model (Lee & Kim, 2017), we are presenting the simulated images of the lunar sodium coma and its correlation with lunar tail's physical parameters.

  • Although various treatments for complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) have been proposed, no well recognized treatment for CRPS has been established. Herein, a case using barbiturate coma therapy for the refractory pain management of a 24-year-old male patient, who suffered from constant stabbing and burning pain, with severe touch allodynia in the left upper extremity following blunt trauma on his forearm is described. Interventional treatments, including permanent spinal cord stimulation and large doses of oral medications, were performed. However, the pain could not be controlled, which lead to frequent emergency room treatment for about 1 month prior to his therapy. He then underwent barbiturate coma therapy due to the uncontrollable pain, with repeated sedation therapy due to his outrageous behavior. His pain became increasingly tolerable and the allodynia was markedly decreased after 5 days of coma therapy.

  • Coma cluster (Abell 1656) is one of the most massive local galaxy clusters such as Virgo, Fornax, and Perseus, which holds a large collection of globular clusters. Globular cluster systems (GCSs) in a galaxy cluster tell us a history of hierarchical cluster assembly and intracluster GCs (ICGCs) are known to trace the gravitational potential of the galaxy cluster. Previous studies of GCSs in Coma mainly utilized data obtained using Hubble Space Telescope (HST) with high spatial resolution. However, most of the data were based on narrow-field pointing observations. In this study we present the widest survey of GCSs in the Coma cluster using the archival Subaru/Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC) g and r images, supplemented with the archival HST images. The Coma GCSs are largely extended in E-W and SW direction, along the general direction of Coma-Abell 1367 filament. This global structure of the GCSs is consistent with the spatial distribution of the intracluster light (ICL). ICGC spatial distribution is largely extended to almost ~50% of the virial radius. Most of these ICGCs are blue and metal-poor, which supports the scenario that ICGCs are mainly originated from dwarf galaxies and some proportion from brighter galaxies. Implications of the results will be discussed.

  • Transient hyperammonemia in a newborn is an overwhelming disease manifested by hyperammonemic coma. The majority of affected newborns are premature and have mild respiratory syndrome. The diagnosis may be difficult to determine. This metabolic disorder is primarily characterized by severe hyperammonemia in the postnatal period, coma, absence of abnormal organic aciduria and normal activity of the enzymes of the urea cycle. Hyperammonemic coma may develop within 2-3 days of life, although its etiology is unknown. Laboratory studies reveal marked hyperammonemia (>$4,000{\mu}mol/L$). The degree of neurologic impairment and developmental delay in this disorder depends on the duration of hyperammonemic coma. Moreover, the infant may succumb to the disease if treatment is not started immediately and continued vigorously. Hyperammonemic coma as a medical emergency requires dialysis therapy. Here, we report a case of severe transient hyperammonemia in a preterm infant (35 week of gestation) presented with respiratory distress, seizure, and deep coma within 48 hours and required ventilatory assistance and marked elevated plasma ammonia levels. He survived with aggressive therapy including peritoneal dialysis, and was followed 2 years later without sequelae.

  • In recent, the demand of mobile communication system is increasing rapidly. However, since wireless resources is limitted, the protocol to utilize wireless resource efficiently is needed. Up to now, Slotted CDMA_ALOHA(S_CDMA_ALOHA) and Mini-Slotted CDMA_ALOHA(MS_CDMA_ALOHA) methods are proposed as a CDMA_ALOHA mechanism, and it is turned out that MS_CDMA_ALOHA offers betterperformance than S_CDMA_ALOHA mechanism. Also, IS-95 multiple access mechanism has been proposed as common air interface(CAI) protocol of CDMA digital cellular system. However, in former study, the performance evaluations were made without considertion of chnnel characteristics of wireless communication environment. In this paper, a new access mechanism for improring the performance in the DS/CDMA digital cellular environment is suggested. This mechanism is adaptive to the channel condition and based on the conventional MS_CDMA_ALOHA mechanism. Also, the performance of new access mechanism is compared with that of conventional mechanisms, through computer simulation. According tot h simulation results, it is shown that the proposed NA_CDMA_ALOHA(Noise-Adaptation CDMA_ALOHA) mechanism offers better performance than conventional three CDMA_ALOHA mechanisms in view of mean delay time and system throughput characteristics. This phenomenon is due to the fast that NA_CDMA_ALOHA mechanism controls the access attempts efficiently based on the channel condition in heavy traffic environments.

  • A velocity inhomogeneity, which is defined as a regional preponderence of either radial or tangential orbits, is searched with a new technique for the Coma cluster of galaxies. It is found within $\~2h^{-1}$ Mpc from the cluster center that the Coma shows conspicuous inhomogeneities in velocity and that the inhomogeneities are real at a $99\%$ level of confidence. Even in the central region (7' - 30' from the center), zones that are dominated by radial and tangential orbits are distinguishable. Defining the cluster's 'equator' as the direction defined by the Coma-A1367 supercluster, tangential orbits dominate the 'polar' zones in the central region. Galaxies that are located in 30'-100' also inhomogeneous in velocity in that the 'polar' zones are mostly radial while the rest is nearly homogeneous. These results indicate that the Coma galaxies are exceedingly more radial in orbit, implying that merging or infalls are either still going on or an earlier virialization is likely to have occurred preferentially near the 'equator'. Incorporating the velocity inhomogeneity into mass estimators, the most appropriate mass is turned out to be $0.4\times10^{15}h^{-1}M_\bigodot(R\;\leq\;0.6h^{-1} Mpc),\;and\;1.0\times10^{15}h^{-1} M_\bigodot(R\;\leq\;2.1h^{-1}Mpc)$. The corresponding mass to blue light ratio on the average is $\~$300h. These estimates are consistent with Merritt (1987) and Hughes (1989) and the MILE is seemed to favour the mass-follows-light models than the uniform spread of dark matter throughout the cluster.
