GAN-based Color Palette Extraction System by Chroma Fine-tuning with Reinforcement Learning

  • As the interest of deep learning, techniques to control the color of images in image processing field are evolving together. However, there is no clear standard for color, and it is not easy to find a way to represent only the color itself like the color-palette. In this paper, we propose a novel color palette extraction system by chroma fine-tuning with reinforcement learning. It helps to recognize the color combination to represent an input image. First, we use RGBY images to create feature maps by transferring the backbone network with well-trained model-weight which is verified at super resolution convolutional neural networks. Second, feature maps are trained to 3 fully connected layers for the color-palette generation with a generative adversarial network (GAN). Third, we use the reinforcement learning method which only changes chroma information of the GAN-output by slightly moving each Y component of YCbCr color gamut of pixel values up and down. The proposed method outperforms existing color palette extraction methods as given the accuracy of 0.9140.

  • A highly efficient white phosphorescent OLED with a "tetra-chromatic" emission was fabricated by using an external color tuning layer (ECTL) which is composed of a layer of greenish yellow organic dye dispersed in PMMA on the outside of the glass. The ECTL combining with a lower red dopant concentration in the device has been found to improve the efficiency of a conventional WOLED by more than 27%.

  • To obtain various colors from the blue emitting poly(fluorene)s, two different approaches are introduced. One is copolymerization with low band gap comonomers and the other is molecular doping with various dyes. As fast and efficient exciton migration and trapping and/or energy transfer between the chromorphoric segments or doped dyes in conjugated polymers can shift the emission to longer wavelengths, these phenomena can be utilized to obtain various colors from the intrinsically blue light emitting poly(fluorene)s.

  • JPEG 은 현재의 디지털 이미지 시장에서 가장 널리 사용되는 형식 중의 하나로 대부분 디지털 이미징 응용에서 많이 사용되고 있다. 이와 같은 환경에서 새로운 이미지 부호화 표준의 적용이 없이 현재의 디지털 시장에 쉽게 적용할 수 있는 부호화 방법을 제안한다. 논문에서는 JPEG 의 부호화에 사용되는 YCbCr 색 공간에서 YCbCr 성분의 좌표축을 변환하여 밝기 성분 (Y 성분)이 보다 많은 정보를 가지도록 하는 CCT (Color Coordinate Tuning) 알고리즘을 제안한다. 실험을 통하여 블록별로 동적으로 CCT 알고리즘을 적용함으로써 기존 JPEG 부호화의 성능이 개선됨을 보였다.

유전 알고리즘을 이용한 Mn4+ 활성 적색 형광체 탐색 (Search for Mn4+-Activated Red Phosphor by Genetic Algorithm)

  • In the construction of a white LED, the region of the red emission is a very important factor. Red light emitting materials play an important role in improving the color rendering index of commercial lighting. These materials also increase the color gamut of display products. Therefore, the development of novel phosphors with red emission and the study of color tuning are actively underway to improve product quality. In the present study, heuristic algorithms were used to search for phosphors capable of increasing the color rendering index and color gamut. Using a heuristic algorithm, the phosphors that were identified were $SrGe_4O_9:Mn^{4+}$ and $BaGe_4O_9:Mn^{4+}$. Emission spectra study confirmed that these phosphors emit light in the deep red wavelength region, which can fulfill the requirement for the improvement in color rendering index and color gamut for a white LED.

  • 백색 LED 기술이 발달함에 따라 적색 형광체는 산업 및 학계에서 점차 중요성이 커지고 있으며, 시장에서 수요는 꾸준히 증가했다. 적색 형광체는 고효율 및 고연색의 LED 조명에 사용된다. 그러나 $Eu^{2+}$ 활성제를 사용한 적색 형광체는 4f-5d 전이로 발생하는 녹색 또는 황색 스펙트럼 영역에서의 강한 재흡수로 인해 백색 LED 칩에서 색상 변경 및 발광 강도의 저하를 유발했다. 이러한 단점이 없고 연색성 지수(CRI)를 더 향상할 수 있는 $Mn^{4+}$ 도핑된 형광체가 현재 매우 중요하다. 그러나 $Mn^{4+}$ 도핑된 형광체는 $^2E_g{\rightarrow}^4A_2$ 전이로 인하여 발광 파장이 모체에 따라 결정된다는 단점이 있다. 본 연구는 동일구조의 $SrGe_4O_9$$BaGe_4O_9$ 모체를 합성하여 $Sr_{1-x}B_axGe_4O_9:Mn^{4+}{_{0.005}}$ (x = 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1)를 얻었다. 이로 인해 LED 기술의 다양한 색상 조정이 가능해졌다.

  • We report the design of electroluminescent conjugated polymers for high efficiency, turn-on voltage, color Tuning, and easy processing. Three approaches for the design are reported, being: (1) single chain consideration, (2) supramolecular structure consideration, and (3) conformation manipulation. Two polymer systems are to be reported, being fluorene-based and carbazole-based conjugated polymers.
