Electrical and Optical Characteristics of Ceramic Metal Halide Lamp with Operating Electronic Ballast (세라믹 메탈할라이드 램프의 전자식 안정기 구동을 통한 전기적 광학적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The use of arc tubes made of ceramic material further enhanced some of the metal halide lamp's properties. These properties translate into higher efficacy with better color rendering, stable color through lamp long life. Recently, due to an increase in the application of the ceramic metal-halide lamp, the study for the property etc. according to Ballast's driving scheme and the study for arc tube material, optimization of gas and so on are being proceeded to improve the property of the lamp. Especially, to control ceramic metal-halide lamp, the vigorous study and practical use with respect to Electronic Ballast, which has been improved in the disadvantages of the conventional Magnetic Ballast are made. In this paper, Electrical, optical and thermal characteristics are analyzed by comparing magnetic ballast with electronic ballast.

Digital Color Image Watermarking for JPEG2000 (JPEG2000을 위한 디지털 칼라 영상 워터마킹)

  • Digital watermarking technology is one of method of protecting property from the illegal reproduction of digital data. This technology inserts the specific data in a certain file to identify the property, that is an author and rights, not for human to be seen and heard. In this paper, the watermarking technology which inserts a RGB rotor watermark in a JPEG2000 color image using the visual characteristics of wavelet coefficient was proposed. After applying various attack at a watermarked image according to proposed technology, the likeness between the original image, the watermark and the extracted watermark was measured and investigated. As a result, the PSNR value of image was varied depending on perceptual parameter, but we can obtain 32㏈ as a whole.

The Study of the Dyeability of Laurel Tree Extracts (향장 월계수를 이용한 염색성에 관한 연구)

  • The dyeings of cotton and silk fabric with Laurus tree extracts were investigated. The colorant was extracted with distilled water at $100^{\circ}C$ for lh. Dyeability(K/S), color fastness and antibacterial property of cotton and silk fabric were tested under conditions of various time, temperature, concentration, repeat-number of dyeing and mordants. The characteristics of dyeings Laurus extracts were figured out by K/S and CIELab values and color-fastness test was estimated in terms of wash fastness and light fastness. The maximum wavelength of spectrum was 670nm. The K/S value of cotton and silk fabric increased with increasing dyeing time and the exhaustion was saturated in 90min. Optical dyeing temperatures of cotton and silk fabrics were $60^{\circ}C$ and $80^{\circ}C$, respectively. The mordant effect on cotton fabric was achieved using Fe mordant. On the other hand, the mordant effect on silk fabric was obtained using Fe and Cu mordants. The wash fastness of cotton fabric was higher than that of silk fabric. Antibacterial property of silk dyeing was greater than that of cotton dyeing. In addition, the excellent antibacterial effect was imparted by Fe-post mordant method.

  • This paper proposes a feature extraction method for sketch-based image retrieval of animation character. We extract the specific regions using the detection of scene change and correlation points between two frames, and the property of animation production. We detect the area of focused similar colors in extracted specific region. And it is used as feature descriptor for image retrieval that focused color(FC) of regions, size, relation between FCs. Finally, an user can retrieve the similar character using property of animation production and user's sketch as a query Image.

Dyeability and Functionality of Silk Fabrics treated with Persimmon Juice (감즙에 의한 견직물의 염색성과 기능성)

  • This research from analyzing dyed silk fabrics treated with persimmon juice by padding concludes as follows : The add on is increased as the number of padding increase and the color of the dyed fabrics holds red-yellow colors which has low brightness and high chromatic colors. The fabrics dyed with persimmon juice have properties such as 2nd grade of light fastness, 4~5th grade of perspiration fastness and rubbing fastness, and 3~4th grade of washing fastness. The dyed fabrics exposed to UV light have deeper yellow-red color than things exposed to sunlight. The silk fabrics treated premordants have shown strong yellow colors, especially the fabrics added Fe mordant have shown greenish red-yellow colors. As the padding times of dyeing with persimmon juice are increased, strength and water-repellent property are enhanced along warp and weft direction respectively but anti-crease property is decreased. Also, the dyed fabrics have good antibacterial activity and deodorization.

  • Hair bleaching is a treatment process in which the melanic pigment is oxidized by hydrogen peroxide. With the increase of the number of treatments, $1{\sim}10$ levels of various colors develop, the hair luster diminishes, and the appearance becomes very rough. In this study, by changing the number of hair bleaching and bleaching conditions, the changes in the degree of hair damage and its process were observed through the use of scanning electron microscopy. The color changes were also compared through the use of spectrophotometer. In order to study the physical changes of the bleached hairs and to search for the optimum conditions to keep the hair damages minimum during bleaching, tensile properties were measured and reviewed. By increasing the number of hair bleaching and by the severe conditions, the scales became eroded and the protection layers were decreased, and the oxidation reached the inner sectors resulting in rough surface and fibrillation. The surface of the hairs became bright yellowish and transparent by the bleaching of melanic pigments or by the destruction of pigments. With the increase of bleaching degree, in terms of physical changes, the breaking strength decreased while the elongation increased a little.

Characteristics of Noodle Added with Chestnuts Flour (밤가루 복합분 국수의 제면 특성)

  • To investigate the possibility of making noodle with Chestnuts flour(C.F), it was mixed with wheat flour by the ratio of 70%. Making characteristics of noodle was studied in terms of the viscosity property, cooking quality test, color measurement and sensory evaluation. The viscosity property of noodles with 10~20% C.F was almost same value as control. In the cooking quality test, noodles with 10~30% C.F was almost same value as control in weight, volume and absorbance of cooked noodle. Color difference($\Delta$E) between noodles with C.F was not significantly different from control in color, only noodle with 10% C.F was same as control in texture by sensory evaluation test. Based on the cooking and sensory evaluation test, addition of 30% C.F to wheat flour may be suitable for making noodle.

  • Recently, polyester is widely used in textile fabrics due to its application potentials in various fields. It is known that askin fabric is prepared with mainly polyester and is enjoyed with various end uses such as marine clothing, underwear, shirts, swimming suits and so on. For this purpose, color fastness should be considered with great importance during its wet processing step. In this context, vat dyes were very much attracted due to the advantage of superior fastness property. Thus, we have used indigo dye towards askin fabric dyeings and investigated corresponding properties namely, dyeing temperature, concentration of dye, reducing agent amount and alkali amount. The results showed that higher color strengths of indigo dyeing on askin fabric were obtained at $110^{\circ}C$, 8% o.w.f, 3g/l, 5g/l, respectively. The color fastness to washing was considerable generally.
