Barrier Rib Patterning Technology for Cost Effective High Resolution PDP

  • Barrier ribs in the color plasma display panel(PDP) function to maintain the discharge space between to glass plates as well as to prevent optical crosstalk. Patterning of barrier ribs is one of unique processes for making PDP. In this work photosensitive barrier rib pastes were prepared by incorporating binder polymer, solvent, functional monomers photoinitiator, mid barrier rib powder. Study on the function of materials for the barrier rib paste were undertaken. After optimization of paste formulation, both photolithographic and transparent soft molding method resulted in fine pattern of barrier ribs with high aspect ratio.

  • We developed a high performance 2.2" active matrix OLED display for IMT-2000 mobile phone. Scan and Data driver circuits were integrated on the glass substrate, using low temperature poly-Si(LTPS) TFT CMOS technology. High efficiency EL materials were employed to the panel for low power consumption. Peak luminescence of the panel was higher than 250cd/$m^2$ with power consumption of 200mW.

  • 내열 충격성 및 적외선 투과를 갖는 LAS($Li_2O-Al_2O_3-SiO_2$)계 글라스세라믹스를 제조하였다. 본 연구에서는 LAS계에 $TiO_2$를 핵형성제로, 점도를 감소시키기 위해 $P_2O_5$를 첨가하여 유리를 제조한 후, 글라스세라믹 결정상을 석출시켰다. 석출된 주 결정상은 ${\beta}$-eucryptite(SS)이었으며, 열팽창 계수가 거의 제로에 가까운 값을 얻었다. 또한 선택적인 스펙트럼의 흡수를 위한 color dopants에 대한 기초 자료 등이 조사되었다.

  • Point contact film thickness in elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) is analyzed by the image processing method for the monochromatic incident light. Interference between the reflected lights both on Cr coating of glass disk and on super finished ball makes circular fringes, which are regarded as film thickness together with numbering of fringe order. In this study, we developed technology to measure the film thickness by analyzing dark and bright intensity waves which results from monochrome green light. Two typical fringe patterns only with intensity values 3re examined for the measurement of point contact EHL film thickness. We expect that this technology will give valuable clue to improve color image processing analysis for high resolution of EHL film thickness with white incident light.

Current development of microtip FEDs and carbon nanotube FEDs

  • 5.2" microtip field emission displays (FEDs) with high voltage applications are fabricated. Nano-structural analysis on microtips is performed for the reliable operation of FEDs. Chemical compositions on the apex of microtips are fully analyzed. A charging mechanism on spacers is simulated and experimentally confirmed with micro-images. A gas-aging mechanism is also studied with integration step of FEDs. The brightness of more than 300 $cd/m^2$ is achieved. In addition, as a new concept, 9" color carbon nanotube FEDs (CNT-FEDs) are introduced using well-aligned carbon nanotubes on glass substrates by paste squeeze and surface treatment techniques. A number of carbon nanotubes, $5-10/{\mu}m2$, are uniformly distributed over a large area. The turn-on fields of 1 $V/{\mu}m$ and field emission currents of 1.5 mA at 3 $V/{\mu}m$ are acquired. Different mechanisms between microtip FEDs and CNT-FEDs are discussed.

  • We developed new green emitting materials based on the spiro moieties. The introduction of a spiro linkage into the structure of DJGH series lead to a reduction in crystallization tendency and an increase in glass transition temperature. they showed much better emitting efficiency and color purity than commercial host material $Alq_3$.

Surface Encoding Method Based on the Superposed Pattern (적층 패턴 기반의 서피스 인코딩 방법)

  • Instead of the surface pattern arranged repeatedly in two axial direction on a plane, we propose double patterns superposing two one-axial linear patterns as a reference target for surface encoding. A upper layer of the superposed pattern is the transparent glass with grooves cut in it at a fixed pitch. The position is sensed by detecting a shift of beam due to difference of a refractive index. And a lower layer is the aluminum with color-coated grooves. The amount of beam reflected on the layer varies according to its targeting position and is detected for encoding. For the above reference pattern, we can detect two-axial positions using only the single beam. Furthermore, the pattern size can be expanded with a size of the detector kept constant, meaning that the measured range can be expanded easily. In this paper, we review the existing optical encoding methods for grid pattern, and discuss the hardware implementation of the suggested surface encoding method.

  • 본 논문에서는 Google사의 Project glass를 이용한 피아노 연습 어플리케이션을 제안한다. 하지만 아직 이 기기는 발매되지 않았기 때문에 안드로이드 모바일에서 제작중이다. 사용자악보를 database로 간단하게 관리하고, OpenCV라이브러리를 통해 실제 피아노의 위치와 건반을 인식하고, 손가락의 위치 파악과 소리 인식을 통하여 서로 인식한 정보의 일치여부를 확인한다. 그리고 증강현실 기술을 이용하여 게임적인 요소를 추가시켜서 보다 쉽고, 재미있게 실제 피아노 연습을 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존에 피아노 연주 연습하는 방식에서 IT기술을 접목시켜서, 교육과 기술발전에 기여할 수 있음을 보인다. 그리고 앞으로 영상처리 기술이 널리 사용될 것으로 예상되어 미리 기술을 학습하는 효과도 있다.

  • It is very important and necessary to predict luminous enviroment in an interior space. This paper has described about energy saving and evaluated interior visual environment in a office building having on/off turning control lighting system utilizing daylight. In order to predict the interior varior illumination distribution, the scale model was made and examined under various conditions, such ad difference of window glass, and color pattern of wall, floor, and also ceiling lighting system type. This paper suggests that basic fundamental data of lighting design performance in the concept and schematic stages of design.

The ablation of ITO thin films by KrF Eximer laser and its characteristics (KrF 엑시머 레이저에 의한 ITO 박막의 어블레이션과 표면특성관찰)

  • This work aimed to develop ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) thin films ablation with a KrF Eximer laser required for the application in flat panel display, especially patterning into small geometry on a large substrate area. The threshold fluence for ablating ITO on glass substrate is about 0.1 J/cm$^2$. And its value is much smaller than using third harmonic Nd:YAG laser. Through the optical microscope measurement the surface color of the damaged ITO is changed into dark brown and irradiated spot is completely isolated form the undamaged surroundings by laser light. The XPS analysis showed that the relative surface concentration of Sn and In were essentially unchanged (In :Sn=5:1) after irradiating Eximer laser. Using aluminium mask made by second harmonic Nd:YAG laser the ITO patterning is carried out.
