  • This paper introduces a cost-effective method fur improving anchor picture quality of a multiview video coding scheme that is mainly based on chroma compensation. Proposed method is applied to both INTER $16{\times}16$ and SKIP modes in only anchor P-pictures. By testing using JVT common test conditions, simulation results show that proposed method can obtain the average BD-PSNR gains fur U and V as 0.136 dB and 0.127 dB, respectively, while maintaining almost same performance for Y (luminance). For the range of low bit-rates, it is observed that average BD-PSNR gains of Y, U, and V are 0.141 dB, 0.494 dB and 0.525 dB, respectively. Necessary computational complexity is very marginal because the number of anchor P-pictures is only 4.18% in comparison with whole coded sequences, however it can be found that the proposed method can significantly improve the coding efficiencies of color components.

  • This study aimed to develop unique, local "food tourism" products by finding specialized items that combine tourist attractions, such as folklore or hot springs. Traditional ingredients were analyzed with ancient texts for the methods of research. A brand image was made possible utilizing hot spring lore and other regional stories. The tofu products were produced using local specialty beans. Products, such as tofu residue cake and willow bean tea, were made with the tofu residue. After the products were completed, the sensory test began at the local tourist attraction. Asan City's food tourism product willow tofu was made with beans that were given as compensation for building the Onyang temporary palace according to the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty and the willow tree that appears in Sunshin Lee's anecdotes. After the preference test between normal tofu and willow-extract tofu was conducted to measure the product potential of willow tofu, among the sample extracts, 0.04% of the willow extract showed a significant preference. The hot spring tofu-residue cake was baked using tofu residue and vegetable olive oil to substitute for animal oil, such as butter, or margarine. After the sensory test targeting the adults was conducted, both products displayed significant product potential with average scores above 5.0. Willow tree bark, which has antioxidation and anti-inflammatory effects without a bitter taste or strong smell, was proven to bean appropriate ingredient for leached tea. The nutty flavor of leached tea was enhanced by roasted green kernel black beans and willow tree bark. The sensory test showed that the leached tea and tofu received a high preference rating on both color and flavor.

  • Deodorization of natural zeolites have been improved not only for polar but also for non-polar pollutants by sucessive ion exchanges of H and Ag ions starting from Korean natural zeolite with high adsorption capacity. The modified zeolites with $TiO_2$ coating on the surface revealed high deodorization and photocatalytic decomposition effects. Further modification was made with $10{\sim}20nm$ silica nano particles coating on the surface, the resulting composite particles of $SiO_2/TiO_2/modified$ natural zeolite revealed not only comparable deodorization but also better durability and resisatnce to color change compared to the $TiO_2$/modified natural zeolite without much compensation of photocatalytic decomposition effect, when the composite particles were exposed to the polypropylene non-woven fiber coated with organic binder. It is expected for the composite particle prepared here to be used as indoor building materials for indoor air quality control.

  • As the advent of the digital age, documents are often scanned to be archived or to be transmitted over the network. The largest proportion of documents is texts and the next is seal images indicating the author of the documents. While a lot of research has been conducted to recognize texts in scanned documents and commercialized text recognizing products are developed as highlighted the importance of the scanned document, information about seal images is discarded. In this paper, we study how to extract the seal image area from the color or black and white document containing the seal image and how to save the seal image. We propose a preprocessing step to remove other components except for the candidate outlines of the seal imprint from scanned documents and a method to select the final region of interest from these candidates by using the feature of seal images. Also in case of a seal imprint overlapped with texts, the most similar image among those stored in the database is selected through the template matching process. We verify the implemented system for a various type of documents produced in schools and analyze the results.

  • In this paper, we proposed an efficient coding method for digital hologram (fringe pattern) acquired by a CCD camera or by computer generation using multi-view prediction technique and MPEG video compression standard technique. It proceeds each R, G, or B color component separately. The basic processing unit is a partial image segmented into the size of $N{\times}N$. Each partial image retains the information of the whole object. This method generates an assembled image for a row of the segmented and frequency-transformed partial images, which is the basis of the coding process. That is, a motion estimation and compensation technique of MPEG is applif:d to the reconstructed images from the assembled images with the disparities found during generation of assembled image and the original partial images. Therefore the compressed results are the disparity of eachpartial image to form the assembled image for the corresponding row, assembled image, and the motion vectors and the compensated image for each partial image. The experimental results with the implemented algorithm showed that the proposed method has NC (Normal Correlation) values about 4% higher than the previous method, by which ours has better compression efficiency. Consequently, the Proposed method is expected to be used effectively in the application areas to transmit the digital hologram data. can be identified in comparison with the previous researches and commercial IPs.
