Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of ankle Kinesio taping on range of motion and agility during exercise in university students. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Thirty subjects were randomly allocated to two groups: taping group (n=15) and non-taping group (n=15). All groups underwent the same exercise program including stretching for 30 minutes. The exercise program proceeded in the following order: five minutes of stretching, a 20-minutes exercise program, and additional five minutes of stretching. Of the eight exercise methods suggested by Purcell et al, seven were chosen (lateral shuffle, forward and backward running, agility ladder, figure-of-8, forward jogging while jumping over cones, wall jumps and zigzags); $90^{\circ}$ cuts with lateral shuffle were omitted. The range of motion of ankle dorsiflexion and plantarflexion was measured using the goniometer. Agility was measured using the side hop test. Results: For ankle range of motion, the taping group showed significant differences in dorsiflexion and plantarflexion on both sides (p<0.05). The non-taping group showed significant differences only in left plantarflexion (p<0.05). There was a significant difference in dorsiflexion on both sides between the taping group and the non-taping group (p<0.05). All groups showed significant differences in agility on the left and right ankle (p<0.05). There was a significant difference in left ankles between the taping group and the non-taping group (p<0.05). Conclusions: Kinesio taping increased range of motion and agility during exercise in university students. Additional research on Kinesio taping for improving range of motion and agility is needed.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate changes in health promoting life style and weight control behavior among nursing students during their two years of college, and to identify the relationship between the changes and their perceived health status. Methods: The subjects were 264 female students in a three-year nursing college in Seoul, Korea. Data was analyzed by paired t-test, Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and multiple logistic regression using SPSS ver.21. Results: Of the six sub-categories regarding health promoting life style, five except spiritual growth showed improvement after two years, but their perceived health status did not change significantly. The number of students who engaged in weight control behavior increased, but there was no change in the number of students who engaged both in weight control and in diet. The group which recorded high scores in perceived mental health status showed 1.2 times greater positive changes in health promoting lifestyle (OR=1.202, p=.023). Conclusion: The results showed although health promoting behavior changed positively throughout the nursing curriculum, physical activities were still low and few students used constructive methods to control their weight. Therefore, it is recommended that nursing colleges build specific programs into their curriculum to correct students' undesirable health promoting behavior.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of sexual abuse prevention education program linked to elementary physical and psychological development on sexual knowledge and attitude. Methods: The participants were the elementary school students of fifth and sixth grades in S city, South Korea (experimental, comparison, and control group=96, 96, and 74, respectively). The experimental group received sexual abuse prevention education linked physical and psychological development, 6 sessions (3 sessions are physical and psychological development educations and 3 other sessions are sexual abuse prevention educations). The comparison group received sexual abuse prevention educations, 3 sessions (the same curriculum of the experimental group). The control group didn't receive any sexual education. The data were analyzed by $x^2$ test and t-test, and ANOVA using the SPSS program. Results: The experimental group showed significantly better sexual knowledge and attitude than the comparison and control group. Conclusion: Sexual abuse prevention education program linked physical and psychological development is required for elementary school students, to improve the sexual knowledge and attitude.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyse eating patterns and physical activities according to obesity of female middle school students in Korea. Methods: The 2010 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Survey (KYRBS) data was used for analysis. The subjects of this study were 11,996 female middle school students (10,118 normal weight and 1,778 overweight). The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, independent t-test, and ${\chi}^2$-test. Results: The findings of this study Indicated that 52.1% of the normal weight group did efforts to lose weight, whereas 60.1% of the overweight groups did. The most common way of reducing body weight was 'reducing food intake', followed by 'regular exercise', 'taking diet supplements' and 'fasting'. Among the entire groups of respondents, 54.6% did not receive dietary education at school over the past year. In addition, 18.8% in normal weight group and 17.0% in overweight group had never receive physical education at school over the past year. Conclusion: The health provider should enhance the school based dietary education and physical education programs for the promotion of adolescents' health status and healthy behaviors.
The main purposes of this study were to assess coffee shop use and to identify the influence of physical environment of a coffee chop on customer behavioral intention. The survey was administered from April to May 2011, targeting twenties college students in Seoul, Gyeonggi Province. A total of 174 copies of the questionnaire were collected for the data analyses such as frequency test, descriptive analysis, chi-square analysis, reliability test, factor analysis, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 17.0 program. The main results of this study were as follows: The number of visits was once or twice a week. Students went with their friends to the coffee shop. Most of the students answered that they visit the coffee shop at any time. The main purpose of visit was to have time to relax. The main source in choosing a coffee shop was recommendation from others. The main criterion for the selection of the coffee shop was atmosphere. Americano was a favorite drink. Coffee was drunk with a cake. Expenditure per visit was 3,000~5,000 won. The choice of the coffee shop was selected by the student. The factor analysis identified seven underlying dimensions of coffee shop physical environment perceptions (seating comfort, attractiveness, cleanliness, harmony, ambient condition, congestion, amenity) and one dimension of customer behavioral intention. Through multiple regression analyses, four determinants (attractiveness, cleanliness, amenity, ambient condition) were found to have the greatest impact on customer behavioral intention.

PURPOSE: To investigate the effects of the underwater Ai-Chi exercise on the joint range of motion, balance and posture. METHODS: Thirty-six college students (30 men, 6 women) were divided into a 'low physical activity' groups (Group I). and an 'appropriate physical activity' groups (Group II). The Ai-Chi underwater exercise was conducted three times a week for two weeks for both groups. A goniometer was used to measure the range of motion of the hip joint, and Y-Balance and the posture screen mobile were used to measure the stability of the lower extremities. RESULTS: An evaluation of the range of motion of the hip joint before and after the Ai-Chi exercise showed significant results in the low physical activity group. However, the flexural range showed a significant increase after exercise, but not significant result. In the comparison of the mean increase between groups, only the right hip joint showed a significant difference in both groups. Also, in the comparison of the Y balance test and posture screen test before and after exercise, both groups showed significant. CONCLUSION: The Ai-Chi underwater exercise helped improve the range of motion of the hip joint and the ability to balance. Also It helped improve posture alignment. In addition, although the increase in all physical activity groups lower than the appropriate physical activity groups was greater in all figures, the increase in the number of samples, the extension of the experimental period, and various variables could be obtained.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between sleep quality and stress among nursing students. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 94 nursing students from a University in Seoul. Participants completed questionnaires and the data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficients. Results: The mean score of sleep quality was $6.93{\pm}2.66$ among nursing students and 81.9% had a sleep problem. The mean score of stress was $18.61{\pm}4.84$. Sleep quality was significantly different by clinical practice days per week, subjective physical health status, and subjective mental health status. Stress levels were significantly different by subjective physical health status, subjective mental health status, social relationship satisfaction, and satisfaction levels of nursing major and university. A significant relationship between sleep quality and stress (r= .45, p< .001) was found, meaning that a lower quality of sleep was significantly correlated with higher stress level. Conclusion: The results indicated that most nursing students had sleep problems and stress. Therefore, interventions are needed to be developed to lower the level of stress and increase the quality of sleep among nursing students.

This study is a descriptive paper addressing the relationship between test anxiety, self-esteem and the mental health levels of freshmen and third year students of Dental Hygienics. In late 2011, we received a total of 298 questionnaires from freshmen and third year Dental Hygienics students of three South Korean universities, located specifically in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The timing of this questionnaire was significant because it was one week prior to midterm examinations. The results were as follows:1. There was a statistically significant relationship between age (t=3.017, p<.001) and grade(t=2.665, p<0.05), subjective health status(t=27.513, p<.001). 2. The lower the participants' reported mental health in general, the higher their level of test anxiety (r=.565, p<.001), broken down into two subdivisions: cognitive text anxiety (r=526, p<.001) and emotional test anxiety (r=.534, p<.001). 3. When considering the factors that influence the general mental health of participants, there were age differences. For first year students, their subjeetive health status (${\ss}$=-.300, p<.001) and test anxiety (${\ss}$=.530, p<.001) were significant. For third year students, this was also true (subjective mental condition: ${\ss}$=-.242, p<.001 and test anxiety: ${\ss}$=.350, p<.001) but self-worth was also significant (${\ss}$=.377, p<.001). The results of this study suggest that the key factors that influence the mental health level of students Dental Hygienics are test anxiety, subjective appraisal of health level, and general self-worth. A systematic approach is therefore needed to improve students' mental health and reduce test anxiety. Health management programs which address and test students' physical health will also be important in improving student performance and welfare.
