A Study on Concrete Material Quality Management Based on Various Test of Construction Condition under Hot Weather Circumstance (서중(暑中) 환경에서 현장 콘크리트 시험을 통한 재료 품질관리 방안)

  • It is required to study systematical on the concrete quality management to extend structure life because rebuilding effect is reducing under present condition of large sized and high stories structure. Concrete, which shows its intensity by hydrating action and a big change in quality according to hot weather and temperature, produces a lot of qualify problem under hot and cold weather Because of each specification and construction plan which does not have basic standard on site, concrete's quality is irregular and makes some defect. As a result, Daegu is turned out to be the longest area after investigating application period and days focused on 8 cities weather information about relationship between hot weather circumstance and construction environment. Therefore, we first surveyed the concrete material in the region and found out the problem of quality nanagement. Then figure out the way of solution. Moreover, we integrated concrete material quality management, which is applied differently to each site, to have equal quality and to reduce defect from construction site. And then, based on various test of construction condition and analysis of quality management item, we suggest effective concrete quality management to make concrete material construction standard guide and plan under hot weather.

Strong wind climatic zones in South Africa

  • In this paper South Africa is divided into strong wind climate zones, which indicate the main sources of annual maximum wind gusts. By the analysis of wind gust data of 94 weather stations, which had continuous climate time series of 10 years or longer, six sources, or strong-wind producing mechanisms, could be identified and zoned accordingly. The two primary causes of strong wind gusts are thunderstorm activity and extratropical low pressure systems, which are associated with the passage of cold fronts over the southern African subcontinent. Over the eastern and central interior of South Africa annual maximum wind gusts are usually caused by thunderstorm gust fronts during summer, while in the western and southern interior extratropical cyclones play the most dominant role. Along the coast and adjacent interior annual extreme gusts are usually caused by extratropical cyclones. Four secondary sources of strong winds are the ridging of the quasi-stationary Atlantic and Indian Ocean high pressure systems over the subcontinent, surface troughs to the west in the interior with strong ridging from the east, convergence from the interior towards isolated low pressure systems or deep coastal low pressure systems, and deep surface troughs on the West Coast.

  • An analysis has been performed for active thermal control of the KOMPSAT monopropellant rocket engine assembly, i.e., dual thruster module(DTM). The main efforts of this work have been directed at determining proper heater sizes for propellant valves and catalyst beds necessary to maintain their temperatures within specified temperature ranges under KOMPSAT environment and operational conditions. The TAS incorporated with TRASYS thermal radiation analyzer was used to establish a complete heat transfer model which allows to predict the DTM temperature as a function of time. The thermal analysis has been performed in transient mode to verify the appropriate power for catalyst bed heaters necessary to increase catalyst bed temperature to the required value within a specified period of time. Similar analysis has been executed to validate the heater power for the thermostatically controlled primary and redundant heater circuits used to prevent hydrazine freezing, i.e., single fault. Moreover the effect of the radiative property of thermal control coating of heat shield was examined. Thruster firing condition was also simulated for the heat soakback condition. As a consequence, all thermal analysis results for DTM satisfactorily met the thermal requirements for the KOMPSAT DTM under the worst case average voltage, i.e. 25 volt.

  • Heat loss from windows and condensation occuring on its surface due to its lower insulation value causes much discomfort to occupants. In this study, Heated glass was used to make a basic study on prevention of condensation on glass surface for its heating functionality through experimental measurement and simulation analysis of total heat flux on the interior and exterior surface of glass. Error between experimental results and three dimensional steady-state heat transfer analysis were caused firstly, beacuse in the experimental chambers, cold chamber and steady temperature and humidity chamber, air temperature setting was not constant but rather ON/OFF control, and secondly, due to error rate in heat flux meter due to heat flux direction even in stable conditions.

  • Gasification characteristics in the fluidized bed reactor are essential for the design of a gasification furnace to optimize the operation condition. Moisture content of the solid fuel is one of the important factors to influence directly the gasification characteristics. So it is necessary to investigate the effect of moisture content of solid fuel in partial oxidation condition. Gasification characteristics are investigated with results from thermogravimetric analyzer and lab-scale fluidized bed reactor for wood and RDF samples along with changing moisture contents. Additionally lab-scale fluidized bed reactor was run continuously and gas concentrations at the exit were measured. It is observed that the rate of reaction in partial oxidation condition is between the results from the combustion environment and from the inert condition. Moisture content in a particle slows down the heating rate of a particle. So, reaction is delayed by the moisture content. However, RDF samples those are easy to break-up don't show the effect of moisture content. The result of continuous operation condition shows that proper moisture content promotes gasification because steam from the particles helps gasification of the solid fuel. A simulation to predict the syn-gas composition was conducted by the Aspen Plus process simulator. The cold gas efficiency of the experiment was compared with results from the simulation.

  • Aquaculture have been important role to supply food resources for mankind. However, competitive power of domestic mariculture industry was declined due to increase of labor and feed expenditures, and quantity import of low-priced livefishes from the developing underdeveloped nations in North and South East Asia. Mass production and quality enhancement can be pointed out to overcome such an industrial environment in this decade. To meet these requirement, movable mariculture base remodeling feasible vessel of chemical tanker or crude oil carrier has been proposed for more advanced mariculture management system by using deep seawater from about 200m which is sustainablely clean, nutrient-rich and cold seawater. Deep seawater can be applied for control of seawater temperature for mariculture base and cultivation phytoplankton and seaweed as feed. Besides mariculture, strategic marketing can be implemented by raw water and ice of deep seawater. Feasibility of applying deep seawater was considered after evaluating general movable mariculture base and management system.

  • This study is an attempt to establish an aesthetic and fashion sense of the heroine's image and fashion according to the social environment which is related to fashion transformation. Also, this study modem society's need for specific social occupational roles through fashion and clothing in cinema. first, individual people are estimating their social position and ability by his/her fashion style. Modem fashion styles are changing into various, complicated, gorgeous and attractive styles; however, the needs of professional women's clothing styles are fairly conservative. Second, classical, closed, and unobtrusive fashion styles are appearing in modem cinema's clothing depending on professional women's expertise in fashion styles. Third, changes of styles are varied by their colors and clothing design. Colors had not changed very much during the last 30 years; however, in the 1980's, white and grey colors, in the 1990's black and achromatic colors, and in the beginning of this century dark green and brown and also diverse colors have been used. But the brightness is so light and expressed by a quiet and cold style. Furthermore, the inner images are judged by their forms which is determined by how people choose their clothing styles. Consequently, women's clothing styles easily appear as a result of their preconceived ideas formed by their professional knowledge and ability.

  • Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion(OTEC) technology is one of the new and renewable energy that utilizes the natural temperature gradient that exists in the tropical ocean between warm surface water and the deep cold water, to generate electricity. The selection of working fluid and the OTEC cycle greatly influence the effect on the system operation, and it's energy efficiency and impacts on the environment. Working fluids of the OTEC are ammonia, R22, R407C, and R410A. In this paper, we compared boiling pressure to optimize OTEC system at $25^{\circ}C$. Also, this paper showed net-power and efficiency according to working fluids for closed cycle and regeneration cycle.

A Study of Board the Train Designed for Wheelchair Users on Welding Condition (휠체어 사용자를 위한 열차 탑승 장치 설계와 용접 조건)

  • The ratio of mobility handicapped was 12,110,000 in late 2009 about 24.4% of total population. The number of handicapped population is increasing continuously due to traffic accidents and industrial disasters. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to suggest a design for passengers on wheelchairs to get into and off to raise handicapped or elderly people's right of mobility. The scope of this research is mobility handicapped especially wheelchair passengers who use vans, small buses, and trains. The ramp design of vans is module form. The ramp is moved with screw jack and guides are installed on each side to increase stability. Moreover, a bridge was installed for smooth getting in and off of the van. The ramp design for small bus is lowed by 200m in order not to have obstacle such as speed bump when getting in or off. In order to reduce vulnerable environment and administration, air slide cylinder was chosen. Lastly, for the ramp design of train, the principle of link was used that the simpler structure made the weight lighter and installation in the train became easier. If we look at the conjugation condition of heterogeneous materials to produce a ramp, proper welding condition for cold steel plate and stainless plate is 3kW output and 3-5m/min of welding speed using laser beam seems proper.

  • The geotechnical engineering research group in Korea Institute of Construction Technology(KICT), which was first started as a small sub-division of the civil research group in KICT, became an independent research cluster with nearly 90 researchers including 25 doctors(Ph.Ds). Our geotechnical engineering research group has developed to be the best research center related to geotechnical engineering in Korea in terms of number of budget of projects performed annually. As a reaction to the rapid changes of domestic and international issues regarding geotechnical practices, our group established long-term plans which will lead national research projects. For the successful and efficient research and technology development, the group is subdivided by several specialty-divisions. The divisions under the geotechnical engineering research group are tunnels and underground structures, slopes and embankments, geo-environment, foundations, soil reinforcements, and constructions in extremely cold regions. Our research scopes includes planning, site investigation, design, construction, maintenance and management. The geotechnical engineering research group is continuously and successfully examining and analyzing the most recent trends of technology and is predicting and focusing on the researches of newly-developing fields; therefore, the group has been a leading research group in geotechnical engineering nationally.
