Effect of Abnormal Grain Growth and Heat Treatment on Electrical Properties of Semiconducting BaTiO3Ceramics

  • Effect of abnormal grain growth and heat treatment time on the electrical properties of donor-doped semiconductive BaTiO$_3$ceramics was examined. La-doped BaTiO$_3$ceramics was sintered at 134$0^{\circ}C$ for different times from 10 to 600 min in order to change the volume fraction of the abnormal grains in samples. As a result, samples with different volume fraction of abnormal grain growth from 22 to 100% were prepared. The samples were annealed at 120$0^{\circ}C$ for various times. The resistivity of the sam-ples at room and above Curie temperature was examined. The complex impedance measurement as functions of the volume fraction of abnormal grains and annealing time was conducted. Separation of complex impedance semicircle was observed in a sample in which abnormal and fine grains coexist. The results are discussed from a viewpoint of microstructure-property relationship.

Uncertainty in the dempster-shafer Theory - A Critical Re-examination

  • Measures of two types of uncertainty that coexist in the Dempster-Shafer theory are overivewed. A measure of one type of uncertainty, which expresses nonspecificity of evidential claims, is well justified on both intuitive and mathermatical grounds. Proposed measures of the other types of uncertainty, which attempt to capture conflicts among evidential claims, are shown to have some deficiencies. To alleviate these deficiencies, a new measure is proposed. This measure, which is called a measure of discord, is not only satisfactory on intuitive grounds, but has alos desirable mathematical properties. A measure of total uncertainty, which is defined as the sum of nonspecificity and discord, is also discussed. The paper focuses on conceptual issues. Mathematical properties of the measure of idscord are only stated ; their proofs are given in a companion paper.

A Distributed Implementation Algorithm for Physical Layer Security Based on Untrusted Relay Cooperation and Artificial Noise

  • In this letter, we consider a cooperation system with multiple untrusted relays (URs). To keep the transmitted information confidential, we obtain joint channel characteristics (JCCs) through combining the channels from the source to the destination. Then, in the null space of the JCCs, jammers construct artificial noise to confuse URs when the source node broadcasts its data. Through a distributed implementation algorithm, the weight of each node can be obtained from its own channel state information. Simulation results show that high-level security of the system can be achieved when internal and external eavesdroppers coexist.

  • By utilizing the concept of normal modes, nonlinear dynamics is studied on pendulum dynamic absorber. When the spring mode loses the stability in undamped free system, a dynamic two-well potential is formed in Poincare map. A procedure is formulated to compute the forced responses associated with bifurcating mode and predict double saddle-loop phenomenon. It is found that quasiperiodic motion and stable periodic motion coexist in some parameter ranges, and only periodic motions or rotation of pendulum with chaotic fluctuation are observed in other ranges.

영가 철로 구성된 Flow-Through Column내에서 미생물 처리에 이한 폭발성 물질의 제거 향상

  • Rusted iron could retain activity to redox-sensitive pollutants in batch reactor. Flow-through columns packed with permeable reactive iron filings (Fe$^{0}$ ) between soil and sand layers were used to evaluate the applicability of bio-enhanced iron barriers to treat explosives-contaminated groundwater. One column was bioaugmented with municipal anaerobic sludge to evaluate the enhancement of biodegradation. Military contaminants (RDX, HMX, TNT, 2,4DNT, 2,6DNT), which coexist in soils at military sites, were completely removed in the bioaugmented Fe$^{0}$ layer after 8 months of operation. Overall, this research suggests that Fe$^{0}$ barriers can effectively clean up groundwater contaminated with military explosives, and that treatment efficiency can be enhanced by bioaugmentation.

  • This study was aimed to analyze how images of information society were embodied in contemporary fashion design. To find out images of information society expressed in contemporary fashion design, this paper reviewed the characteristics of information society, and, found out six categories of contemporary fashion design in which the information society was expressed. Cyber environment causes techno style clothing which is characterized by the metallic or lustrous material and mechanical message. And interest in new materials increased significantly. Time-space compression makes the meaning of time and space change, therefore the past, present and future are coexist in the contemporary fashion design. The boundaries has loosed, so, heterogeneous materials and colors are used in fashion design all together. Variety and plurality affect expression of individuality and self-concept. Flexibility increased, so, soft and pliable clothing increased, too. Finally, quality of life is considered as more important value than quantity, so, luxurious look and zen style appear. Also, minimalism which is characterized as simplicity and purity affects the contemporary fashion design.

  • Looseleaf publications are truly a unique type of library material, partaking simultaneously of the nature of serials and monographs. Therefors, two disparate methods of cataloging looseleaf publications coexist today. But the decision to catalog looseleaf publications as serials as monographs affects the acquisition, budget allocation, receipt, record maintenance, and user access. In view of these aspects, this study analyzed the sources of information and seven areas of description (title and statement of responsibility ; edition ; publication, distribution, etc. ; physical description; series ; note ; standard number and terms of availability) of CRDLP2 as the exclusive cataloging rules of looseleaf publications. The results of the analysis were summarized in chapter 4 in detail. Finally, it is desirable that looseleaf publications for updationg are cataloged as monographs since the bibliographic description applied to looseleaf publications follows so colosely that of monographs. And, the cataloger must pay partioular attention to describe the physical description area because of numerous changes of the bibliographic records accompanied by frequent revisions or updates of the publications.

Experimental Interference Studies Between WCDMA and UWB System

  • Ultra wideband (UWB) technologies have been developed to exploit a new spectrum resource in substances and to realize ultra-high-speed communication, high precision geolocation, and other applications. The energy of UWB signal is extremely spread from near DC to a few GHz. This means that the interference between conventional narrowband systems and UWB systems is inevitable. However, the interference effects had not previously been studied from UWB wireless systems to conventional mobile wireless systems sharing the frequency bands such as WCDMA system. This paper experimentally evaluates the interference from two kinds of UWB sources, namely a direct-sequence spread-spectrum UWB source and an impulse radio UWB source, to a WCDMA digital transmission system. The average frame error rate degradations are presented. From these experimental results, we show that in all practical cases UWB system can coexist with WCDMA terminal without causing any dangerous interference.

  • This paper experience the mechanism for the electret of polyethyleneterephthalate(PET) by using surface potentail measurement means. We investigated the internal charge production and becoming week by evaporating electrode in sample structure of electret coexist with hetero charge and homo charge, as the study based on two charge theory. We expects that the hetero charge consists of the dipole and ion displacement of internality, the homo charge consists of injected charge of externality.

  • To better understand the phenomena inside an absorber, where heat and mass transfer coexist, this study selected the most baslc absorption model from in whifh water vapor is absorbed on the surface of a stationary lithium bromide absurbent solution. The purpose of this study is to obtain basic knowledge of heat and mass transfer processes as affected by Marangoni convection induced by addition of surfactant. We apply a non-flowing bulk absorption model and assume that dropwise surfactant is fixed on the absorbent surface. Four governing equation-continuity, laminar monentum, energy and diffusion are solved numerically to obtain temperature and concentraion distributions during steam absorption with Marangonl convection.. In conclusion, Sh and Nu genrally increase at the initial absorption stage.
