  • A three dimensional-two spatical dimensions plus time-image segmentation is widely used in a very low bit rate image sequence coding because it can solve the region correspondence problem. Mathematical morphology is a very efficient tool for the segmentation because it deals well with geometric features such as size, shape, contrast and connectivity. But if the motion in the image sequence is large in time axis, the conventional 3D morphological segmentation algorithm have difficulty in solving region correspondence problem. To alleviate this problem, we propose the hierarchical image sequence segmentation algorithm that uses the region motion information. Since the motion of a region in previous level affects that in current level uses the previous motion information to increase region correspondence. Simulation result shows improved performance for sequence frames with large motion.

  • In this paper an adaptive moving method of the search region tracking the motion is proposed. The search region in BMA is determined by the capability of hardware implementation and the degree of motion. But once determined nothing can be changed during coding procedure. In this paper we predict the level of motion of the current block using motion vectors of previous frames without overhead information and change the location of the search region according to the level of the motion predicted. In short the proposed method can be archieved the dsirable effect such that the size of search region gets large when the motion is large. Results of experiments show that prediction efficiency has been improved by using adaptive moving method resulting in reduced prediction error in the blocks with large motion.

  • Locus control region (LCR) is a cia-acting element which regulates the transcription of genes in developmental stage and/or tissue-specific pattern. Typically, LCR consists of several DNase I hypersensitive sites (HSs), where the binding motifs for transcriptional activators are present. The binding of activators to the HSs recruits chromatin modifying complexes to the LCR, opening chromatin structure and modifying histones covalently through the locus. LCR forms close physical contact with target gene located at a distance by looping away intervening region. In addition, non-coding RNA is transcribed from LCR toward target genes in continuously acetylated active domain. These structural and functional features of LCR suggest that the LCR plays many roles in chromatin activation and transcriptional regulation.

  • Most video coding systems use YCbCr color space for their inputs, but RGB space is more preferred in the field of high fidelity video because the compression gain from YCbCr becomes disappeared in the high quality operation region. In order to improve the coding performance of RGB video signal, this paper presents an adaptive frequency-selective weighted prediction algorithm. Based on the sign agreement and the strength of frequency-domain correlation of residual color planes, the proposed scheme adaptively selects the frequency elements as well as the corresponding prediction weights for better utilization of inter-plane correlation of RGB signal. Experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm improves the coding gain of around 13% bitrate reduction, on average, compared to the common mode of 4:4:4 video coding in the state-of-the-art video compression standard, H.264/AVC.

  • In this paper, we present new method of fractal image coding based on iterated function system(IFS) suggested by Barnsley. In previous Fractal coding using full searching algorithm, the quality of reconstructed image was better than other fractal coding method's, but it took a long time in that algorithm for searching domain blocks matched. And it is performed through linear affine transform, therefore it is difficult to approximate the complex range blocks. In this paper, using quadtree partitioning, complex blocks are divided into more smaller blocks, and simple blocks are merged to more larger blocks. So, we can got more precisely approximated range blocks and reduce the number of transformations. Hence, we have improved the compression ratio. In addition, we restrict the region of searching domains in order to reduce the searching time and coding time. Compared with full searching algorithm, we reduced coding time drastically, and quality of reconstructed image was better in terms subjective criteria. And compared with Monro's, our method is slower, but we could obtain a reconstructed image with better quality.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate polymorphisms of BMPRIB (bone morphogenetic protein type IB receptor) gene and its effect on litter size traits in sheep. Three populations including 101 Small Tailed Han sheep, 79 Poll Dorset and 81 hybrids (Poll Dorset${\times}$Small Tailed Han sheep) were used to detect the polymorphisms in exon 6 region of sheep BMPRIB gene. A fragment of approximately 190bp was amplified by one pair of primers, the polymorphism was revealed from the analysis of three populations by the technique of PCR -SSCP, and a mutation from A to G at 746 of the coding region was confirmed by sequencing in several individual. Statistical results indicated the distribution of allele B (with a A$\longrightarrow$G mutation) and A (without mutation) or genotype AA, AB and BB frequencies differed in three populations. BB genotype (44.55%) and B allele (66.34%) frequencies of Small Tailed Han sheep were higher than those of the others. Analysis of variance showed that the polymorphism of BMPRIB gene was associated with positive effect on litter size traits. The means of genotype BB and AB were about 1.04 and 0.74 more than genotype AA for litter size (p<0.05). Analysis of BMPRIB genotype effects on litter size in three populations indicates the existence of genotype BB or B allele increases the litter size. It suggested that the polymorphism in exon 6 (at 746 in the coding region) of sheep BMPRIB gene may be used as a marker for early selection of prolificacy in sheep.

  • In this paper, we propose a new connected operator Using morphological grayscale reconstruction for region-based coding First, an effective method of reference-image creation lis proposed, which is based on the Size as well as the contrast. This improves the performance of simplification, because It preserves perceptually important components and removes unnecessary components The conventional connected operators are good for removing small regions, but have a serious drawback for low-contrast regions that are larger than the structuring element. That is, when the conventional connected operators are applied to tills region, the simplification becomes less effective or several meaningful regions are merged to one region to avoid this, the conventional geodesic dilation is modified to propose an adaptive operator to reduce the effect of inappropriate propagation, pixels reconstructed to the original values are excluded m the dilation operation Experimental results have shown that the proposed algorithm achieves better performance In terms of the reconstruction of flat zones. The Picture quality has also been improved by about 7dB, compared to the conventional methods.

  • Dihydroflavonol 4-reductase (DFR) is a key enzyme of the flavonoid biosynthesis pathway which catalyses the NADPH-dependent reduction of 2R,3R-trans-dihydroflavonols to leucoanthocyanidins. In this study we describe cloning and expression of the genes encoding the flavonoid-biosynthetic enzyme DFR in Gypsophila paniculata L. Inspection of the 1279 bp long sequence revealed an open reading frame 1063 bp, including a 36 bp 5' leader region and 181 bp 3' untranslated region. Comparison of the coding region of this DFR cDNA sequence including the sequences of Arabidopsis thaliana, Citrus sinensis, Dianthus caryophyllus, Ipomoea batatas, Matthiola incana, Nierembergia sp, Petunia hybrida, Solanum tuberosum, Vitis vinifera reveals an identity higher than 69% at the nucleotide level. The function of this nucleotide sequences was verified by comparison with amino acid sequences of the amino-terminus and tryptic peptides from purified plant enzyme, by northern blotting with mRNA from wild type and mutant plants, by in vitro expression yielding and enzymatically active reductase, as indicated by the small leucopelargonidin peak. Genomic southern blot analysis showed the presence of only one gene for DFR in Gypsophila paniculata.
