It has been studied that galaxies evolve following a typical trajectory on the phase space under the influence of deep gravitational potential of galaxy clusters. Similarly, the large-scale filaments could also affect the evolution of galaxies before falling into the clusters. In this study, using a dark matter-only cosmological simulation, N-Cluster Run, we explore the evolution of galaxies on the phase space drien by large-scale filaments. We find that galaxies around the filaments form a common trajectory on the phase space as well as cluster galaxies do. We also examine how these trajectories change depending on various physical parameters such as galaxy mass, initial distance of galaxies from large-scale filaments, and cluster mass.
In this paper we review the observational results on Relic radio sources in clusters of galaxies. We discuss their observational properties, structures and radio spectra. We will show that Relics can be divided according to their size, morphology, and location in the galaxy cluster. These differences could be related to physical properties of Relic sources. The comparison with cluster conditions suggests that Relics could be related to shock waves originated by cluster mergers.
We review the early historical developement of astronomical spectrographs, properties of emission line spectra of HII regions in spiral galaxies, and absorption line features of galactic globular clusters. Emission line spectra of HII regions within three spiral galaxies NGC 300, NGC 1365, and NGC 7793, which were observed from AAT/IPCS, had been analysed, and we discuss the abundances of elements in HII regions and the radial abundace gradients through the galaxies. The radial UBV color variations of two globular clusters, NGC 1851 and NGC 2808, were examined for correlations with radial variations of several absorption lines in the integrated spectra, which were obtained from SAAO 74 inch telescope and image tube spectrograph. Nine giant star's spectra in NGC 3201 were also obtained and analysed for the radial abundance gradients in the globular cluster. The results show that the presence of a radial color gradient in a globular cluster is correlated with the presence of abundance gradients. Finally, we suggest some scientific programs for the new high dispersion spectrograph, which will be installed to the BOAO 1.8m telescope.

The M81 Group is the nearest among the known groups of galaxies. HI maps show that all main galaxies of this group are interacting, indicating that this group is in the active phase of formation. On the other hand, wide field imaging shows that globular cluster candidates are found not only in the member galaxies but also between the galaxies in this group. In this study we present preliminary results based on MMT/Hectospec spectroscopy of the globular cluster candidates in this group. We find that the intragroup globular clusters have mostly low metallicity, while the globular clusters in M81 have mostly high metallicity. We will discuss the implication of this result and the kinematics of the globular clusters in relation with the formation history of the M81 Group.
We present the results of our mid-infrared (MIR) observations of distant clusters of galaxies with AKARI. The wide-field of view of IRC/AKARI ($10^{\prime}{\times}10^{\prime}$) is ideally suited for studying dust-obscured star-formation (SF) activity of galaxies along the cosmic web in the distant universe. We performed a deep and wide-field $15{\mu}m$ (rest-frame ${\approx}8{\mu}m$) imaging observation of the RXJ1716+6708 cluster (z = 0.81) with IRC. We find that $15{\mu}m$-detected cluster member galaxies (with total infrared luminosities of $L_{IR}{\geq}10^{11}L_{\odot}$) are most preferentially located in the cluster outskirt regions, whilst such IR-luminous galaxies avoid the cluster centre. Our $H{\alpha}$ follow-up study of this field confirmed that a significant fraction of $15{\mu}m$-detected cluster galaxies are heavily obscured by dust (with $AH{\alpha}$>3 mag in extreme cases). The environment of such dusty star-burst galaxies coincides with the place where we see a sharp "break" of the colour-density relation, suggesting an important link between dust-obscured SF activity and environmental quenching. We also report the discovery of a new cluster candidate around a radio galaxy at z = 1.52 (4C 65.22), where we obtained one of the deepest IRC imaging datasets with all the nine filters at $2-24{\mu}m$. This field will provide us with the final, excellent laboratory for studying the dust-enshrouded SF activity in galaxies along the cosmic web at the critical epoch of cluster galaxy evolution with AKARI.
Galaxy clusters as the densest and most prominent regions within the large-scale structure can be used as well characterizable laboratories to study astrophysical processes on the largest scales. X-ray observations provide currently the best way to determine the physical properties of galaxy clusters and the environmental parameters that describe them as laboratories. We illustrate this use of galaxy clusters and the precision of our understanding of them as laboratory environments with several examples. Their application to determine the matter composition of the Universe shows good agreement with results from other methods and is therefore a good test of our understanding. We test the reliability of mass measurements and illustrate the use of X-ray diagnostics to study the dynamical state of clusters. We discuss further studies on turbulence in the cluster ICM, the interaction of central AGN with the radiatively cooling plasma in cluster cooling cores and the lessons learned from the ICM enrichment by heavy elements.
Taking the great advantage of Subaru's wide field coverage both in the optical and in the near infrared, we have been providing panoramic views of distant clusters and their surrounding environments over the wide redshift range of 0:4 < z < 3. From our unique data sets, a consistent picture has been emerging that the star forming activity is once enhanced and then truncated in galaxy groups in the outskirts of clusters during the course of cluster assembly at z < 1. Such activity is shifted into cluster cores as we go further back in time to z ~ 1.5. At z = 2 - 2.5, we begin to enter the epoch when massive galaxies are actually forming in the cluster core. And by z ~ 3, we eventually go beyond the major epoch of massive galaxy formation. It is likely that the environmental dependence of star forming activity is at least partly due to the external environmental effects such as galaxy-galaxy interaction in medium density regions at z < 1, while the intrinsic effect of galaxy formation bias overtakes the external effect at higher redshifts, resulting in a large star formation activity in the cluster center.
MIR colors are an excellent tool to investigate the transition phase of galaxy evolution in terms of star formation at various phases. The Coma supercluster is the nearest massive supercluster, hosting two main clusters, the Coma (Abell 1656) and Leo (Abell 1367) clusters, and one galaxy group, the NGC 4555 group, providing an ideal laboratory to study how galaxies evolve depending on environment. We present the results of a study for MIR properties of galaxies in the Coma supercluster using multi-wavelength data from the optical to MIR including the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 12 and the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer. We investigate differences in MIR properties of galaxies among three galaxy systems, and discuss the results in relation with star formation history and morphological transformation of galaxies.
We present a study searching for globular cluster systems (GCSs) of two face-on low surface bright- ness galaxies (LSBGs), UGC 5981 and UGC 6614. Based on HSTWFPC2 images of F555Wand F814W filters, we detect 12 and 18 GC candidates for UGC 5981 and UGC 6614, respectively. Although these two LSBGs have very different bulge properties, they have very similar specific frequencies ($S_N$) of 0.1. However, $S_N$ ~ 0.1 is quite small even for their late morphological types, albeit within errors. This suggests that LSBGs have had star formation histories lacking dominant initial starburst events while accumulating their stellar masses through sporadic star formation activities.

We carry out the first survey for globular clusters (GCs) of three galaxies in cosmic voids using Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Advanced Camera for Survey archival F606W and F814W images. While all sample galaxies are classified as early-type galaxies based on ground-based imaging, the high resolution HST images reveal that they are actually spiral galaxies. We identify the point sources with red colors typical for GCs as GC candidates in the color-magnitude diagrams. As a result, we find a significant number of GC candidates. The spatial and radial distribution of GCs show central concentration on each galaxy region. Their mean colors are similar to that of the Milky Way and M31 GCs. The void GCs are somewhat bluer by, and than cluster and field GCs in early-type galaxies with similar luminosity to our samples, but the discrepancy is not significant. We also estimate the specific frequencies of GCs in these galaxies and the values are consistent with those in field and cluster galaxies with similar luminosity. From these results, we suggest that the formation process of void GCs is similar to that of GCs in other environments. The further implications will be discussed.
