  • Energy efficiency in heterogeneous network is considered as one of the main issues when deploying the wireless sensor network. In heterogeneous network, the random distribution of initial energy at each node could lead to an instability of the network. Therefore, a resonable policy must be established in order to maintain the fairness in energy consumption and extend the working time of each node in the network. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of the distributed clustering protocol (DCP) in heterogeneous network on different scenarios. Simulation results are compared with the results of a LEACH protocol in a heterogeneous network. In addition, the performance of system in heterogeneous network are also compared with the homogeneous network to illustrate the effect of imbalance in the initial energy on the life time of each node in the system. The result illustrates that the DCP protocol demonstrates better performance than LEACH protocol in both the heterogeneous and the homogeneous networks.

  • In this paper, we describe a secure cluster-routing protocol based on a multi-layer scheme in ad hoc networks. We propose efficient protocols, Authentication based on Multi-layer Clustering for Ad hoc Networks (AMCAN), for detailed security threats against ad hoc routing protocols using the selection of the cluster head (CH) and control cluster head (CCH) using a modification of cluster-based routing ARCH and DMAC. This protocol provides scalability of Shadow Key using threshold authentication scheme in ad hoc networks. The proposed protocol comprises an end-to-end authentication protocol that relies on mutual trust between nodes in other clusters. This scheme takes advantage of Shadow Key using threshold authentication key configuration in large ad hoc networks. In experiments, we show security threats against multilayer routing scheme, thereby successfully including, establishment of secure channels, the detection of reply attacks, mutual end-to-end authentication, prevention of node identity fabrication, and the secure distribution of provisional session keys using threshold key configuration.

  • In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), cluster based data routing protocols have the advantages of reducing energy consumption and link maintenance cost. Unfortunately, most of clustering protocols have been designed for uniformly distributed sensor networks. However, some urgent situations do not allow thousands of sensor nodes being deployed uniformly. For example, air vehicles or balloons may take the responsibility for deploying sensor nodes hence leading a normally distributed topology. In order to improve energy efficiency in such sensor networks, in this paper, we propose a new cluster formation algorithm named DAEEC (Density Aware Energy-Efficient Clustering). In this algorithm, we define two kinds of clusters: Low Density (LD) clusters and High Density (HD) clusters. They are determined by the number of nodes participated in one cluster. During the data routing period, the HD clusters help the neighbor LD clusters to forward the sensed data to the central base station. Thus, DAEEC can distribute the energy dissipation evenly among all sensor nodes by considering the deployment density to improve network lifetime and average energy savings. Moreover, because the HD clusters are densely deployed they can work in a manner of our former algorithm EEVAR (Energy Efficient Variable Area Routing Protocol) to save energy. According to the performance analysis result, DAEEC outperforms the conventional data routing schemes in terms of energy consumption and network lifetime.

  • Designing of a hierarchical clustering algorithm is one of the numerous approaches to minimize the energy consumption of the Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). In this paper, a homogeneous and randomly deployed sensor nodes is considered. These sensors are energy constrained elements. The nominal selection of the Cluster Head (CH) which falls under the clustering part of the network protocol is studied and compared to Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) protocol. CHs in this proposed process is the function of total remaining energy of each node as well as total average energy of the whole arrangement. The algorithm considers initial energy, optimum value of cluster heads to elect the next group of cluster heads for the network as well as residual energy. Total remaining energy of each node is compared to total average energy of the system and if the result is positive, these nodes are eligible to become CH in the very next round. Analysis and numerical simulations quantify the efficiency and Average Energy Ratio (AER) of the proposed system.

  • This paper presents a Cuckoo search algorithm to secure adversaries misdirecting multi-hop routing in Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) using a robust Trust Predicated Routing Framework with an optimized cluster head selection. The clustering technique designed in this framework leads to efficient routing in MANETs. The heavy work load in the node causes an energy drop in cluster head, which leads to re-clustering of the group, and another cluster head is selected to avoid packet loss during data transmission. The problem in the re-clustering process is that the overall efficiency of the routing process is reduced and the processing time is increased. A Cuckoo search based optimization algorithm is proposed to solve the problem of re-clustering by selecting the secondary cluster head within the initially formed cluster group and eliminating the reclustering process. The proposed framework enables a node to select a reliable and secure route for MANET and the performance can be evaluated by comparing the simulated results with the AODV routing protocol, which shows that the performance of the proposed routing protocol are improved significantly.

  • The wireless sensor networks have been extensively researched. One of the issues in wireless sensor networks is a developing energy-efficient clustering protocol. Clustering algorithm provides an effective way to extend the lifetime of a wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we proposed an energy efficient clustering scheme by adjusting group size. In sensor network, the power consumption in data transmission between sensor nodes is strongly influenced by the distance of two nodes. And cluster size, that is the number of cluster member nodes, is also effected on energy consumption. Therefore we proposed the clustering scheme for high energy efficiency of entire sensor network by controlling cluster size according to the distance between cluster header and sink.

  • One of the major challenges of minimum energy consumption for wireless sensor networks(WSN) environment. LEACH protocol is hierarchical routing protocol that obtains energy efficiency by using clustering. However, LEACH protocol in each round, because the new cluster configuration, cluster configuration, whenever the energy consumed shorten the life of the network. Therefore in this paper, the cluster is formed in WSN environment in early stage and the problems with energy waste have been solved by selecting C-node. In the initial round of proposed model uses 26 percent more than traditional LEACH energy consumption. However, as the round is ongoing, it has been proved by the network simulation tool that the waste of energy could be diminished up to 35%.

  • With the prevalence of multimedia applications and the potential commercial usage of Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) in group communications, Quality of Service (QoS) support became a key requirement. Recently, some researchers studied QoS multicast issues in MANETs. Most of the existing QoS multicast routing protocols are designed with flat topology and small networks in mind. In this paper, we investigate the scalability problem of these routing protocols. In particular, a Position-Based QoS Multicast Routing Protocol (PBQMRP) has been developed. PBQMRP builds a source multicast tree guided by the geographic information of the mobile nodes, which helps in achieving more efficient multicast delivery. This protocol depends on the location information of the multicast members which is obtained using a location service algorithm. A virtual backbone structure has been proposed to perform this location service with minimum overhead and this structure is utilized to provide efficient packet transmissions in a dynamic mobile Ad hoc network environment. The performance of PBQMRP is evaluated by performing both quantitative analysis and extensive simulations. The results show that the used virtual clustering is very useful in improving scalability and outperforms other clustering schemes. Compared to On-Demand Multicast Routing Protocol (ODMRP), PBQMRP achieves competing packet delivery ratio and significantly lower control overhead.

  • The most important factor within the wireless sensor network is to have effective network usage and increase the lifetime of the individual nodes in order to operate the wireless network more efficiently. Therefore, many routing protocols have been developed. The LEACH protocol presented by Wendi Hein Zelman, especially well known as a simple and efficient clustering based routing protocol. However, because LEACH protocol in an irregular network is the total data throughput efficiency dropped, the stability of the cluster is declined. Therefore, to increase the stability of the cluster head, in this paper, it proposes a stochastic cluster head selection method for improving the LEACH protocol. To this end, it proposes a SH-LEACH (Stochastic Cluster Head Selection Method-LEACH) that it is combined to the HEED and LEACH protocol and the proposed algorithm is verified through the simulation.

  • Clustering protocol that is used in wireless sensor network is an efficient method that extends the lifetime of the network. However, when this method is applied to an environment in which collected data of the sensor node easily overlap, sensor nodes unnecessarily consumes energy. In the case of clustering technique that uses a threshold, the lifetime of the network is extended but the degree of accuracy of collected data is low. Therefore it is hard to trust the data and improvement is needed. In addition, it is hard for the clustering protocol that uses multi-hop transmission to normally collect data because the selection of a cluster head node occurs at random and therefore the link of nodes is often disconnected. Accordingly this paper suggested a cluster-formation algorithm that reduces unnecessary energy consumption and that works with an alleviated link disconnection. According to the result of performance analysis, the suggested method lets the nodes consume less energy than the existing clustering method and the transmission efficiency is increased and the entire lifetime is prolonged by about 30%.
