A new design scheme of a binary decision tree is proposed. In this scheme a binary decision tree is constructed by using genetic algorithm and FCM algorithm. At each node optimal or near-optimal feature subset is selected which optimizes fitness function in genetic algorithm. The fitness function is inversely proportional to classification error, balance between cluster, number of feature used. The binary strings in genetic algorithm determine the feature subset and classification results - error, balance - form fuzzy partition matrix affect reproduction of next genratin. The proposed design scheme is applied to the tire tread patterns and handwriteen alphabetic characters. Experimental results show the usefulness of the proposed scheme.
The objective of this study is to classify somatotypes of back-surface shape of women in their late 20s by using 3D body scan data(Size Korea 2010) in order to improve fitness of Hanbok Jeogori. The results were as follows: 1. According to the in-depth survey of the experienced expert's interview, most problems related to the fit were caused by the back area of Jeogori. 2. The result of factor analysis indicated that 6 factors were extracted and those factors comprised 82.85% of total variance. 3. According to the cluster analysis, back somatotypes of women in their late 20s were categorized by two types : straight type(54.1%) and bending type(46.9%). The results could be used as the Hanbok Jeogori to improve the fitness of back-surface shape.
The purpose of this study was to identify VMD structural elements of apparel stores, and related variables. The related variables are contained shopping orientation, store types, consumer satisfaction and the intention to purchase in apparel stores. The data was collected from a questionnaire conducted on 378 female adults and was analyzed by frequency analysis, factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANDVA, regression, Duncan test, and reliability analysis. The results were as follows: (1) VMD structural elements of apparel store consisted of four factors: coordination/fitness, fashionability, attractiveness, and functionality. Shopping orientation consisted of six factors: recreational, rational, fashion oriented, convenience oriented, price conscious, and brand conscious. Shopper types consisted of four groups: recreational type shopper, economic type shopper, high involved shopper, and convenience oriented shopper. (2) Significant differences were find out between those shopper types and VMD structural elements. Significant differences were find out between store types and VMD structural elements. (3) VMD structural elements(coordination/fitness, functionality, fashionability) were influenced consumer satisfaction and the intention to purchase.
This study, as a case study of four university dormitories in Gwangju, examined the situation of interior space and conducted a quantitative survey investigating importance about the interior space and assessment factors of residential environment on users. Then user satisfaction at the assessment factors of residential environment was analyzed to draw problems and explore improvement. The results showed the following problems that should be resolved: Bedrooms should increase the area of convex space; toilets and bathrooms should be changed into a cluster type at least in common use by floor; rest space should reinforce heating and cooling system; robby space should become mixed space for various user's behavior; private fitness rooms should be planned as group fitness space; private libraries should reinforce lighting facilities; and computer rooms should complement and improve HVAC.

The aim of this study was to provide the 2 and 3 dimensional statistics requisite in the sizing system and design of gloves. The 64 2-dimensional static measurements were selected to provide information about hands. Participants in the study were 824 adults, aged between 18 and 64. To summarize the information from the measurement values, a Factor Analysis and a Cluster Analysis among multivariate analyses were performed. 3-D scanner was used for visual results of hand shape of each cluster. The results were as follows. Twenty-two items were used for the factor and cluster analysis in order to classify the adult hand shape. The variable quantities that are explained by a total of 3 factors amounted to under 79.37% of the variable quantities. The definition results of the factors related to the hands are as follows: Factor 1 is the horizontal dimension, the thickness of hand factor; Factor 2 is the height of the crotch; and Factor 3 is the vertical dimension of the hand. The adults' group hand was divided into 2 clusters according to a cluster analysis using factor scores. The characteristics according to hand type were as follows: Cluster 1 referred to high horizontal dimensions and thickness, rather small vertical dimensions and crotch height; and Cluster 2 represented the rather smaller horizontal dimensions and thickness but longer hand length than Type 1. To provide specific shape data of each cluster, 3-D scanner measurement was performed. 3-dimensional data base was developed for each cluster type and visual information was provided.

Optimal determination of cluster size has an effect on the result of clustering. In K-means algorithm, the difference of clustering performance is large by initial K. But the initial cluster size is determined by prior knowledge or subjectivity in most clustering process. This subjective determination may not be optimal. In this Paper, the genetic algorithm based optimal determination approach of cluster size is proposed for automatic determination of cluster size and performance upgrading of its result. The initial population based on attribution is generated for searching optimal cluster size. The fitness value is defined the inverse of dissimilarity summation. So this is converged to upgraded total performance. The mutation operation is used for local minima problem. Finally, the re-sampling of bootstrapping is used for computational time cost.
The purpose of this study was to develop the pattern of bodysuit and to identify the wear fitness of it The methods of statistical analysis applied to the study were ANOVA and cluster analysis. The materials used in making bodysuit were Nylon/Polyurethane, lace, power net, binding tape, and hook eye. The try-on test was administered in two aspects ; (1) the comparison of anthropometric data before and after trying on the experimentally constructed bodysuit with those of marketing bodysuit, (2) the sensory evaluation to estimate the wear fitness in terms of appearance and motion function. The conclusions obtained are as follows ; 1. In the survey of wearing state, 52.2% of respondents had experience of wearing bodysuit. 60.6% of them responded to the item, “well-balanced body” in the question about the purpose of wearing it. 55.7% considered the item, “feel choky in the chest” as uncomfortable point in putting on bodysuit. 48.3% felt the portion of crotch drawn above in taking exercise or behaving routinely in everyday life. 2. As for the characteristics of the bodysuit design, the scooped neckline and horizontal outline without wire in lower bust was used, the adjust point being located right above the perineum point, and the length of bodysuit is as far as trochanteric point. 3. In comparing anthropometric data of the subjects, there was significant difference in the height of lower bust the distance around abdomen, and the length of bust point(right, left) between the experimentally constructed bodysuit and the marketing bodysuit. 4. Concerning the results of the try-on test in appearance, the estimates of expert panel, which were in agreement with those of subjects in mean value and composite reliability coefficient, showed that the pattern fitness of experimentally designed bodysuit was higher than that of marketing bodysuit. 5. To take try-on test in motion function, motion was classified the five steps. The results of the test showed that experimentally designed bodysuit was fitter in each steps of motion than marketing bodysuit.

A new design scheme of a binary decision tree is proposed. In this scheme a binary decision tree is constructed by using genetic algorithm and FCM algorithm. At each node optimal or near-optimal feature or feature subset among all the available features is selected based on fitness function in genetic algorithm which is inversely proportional to classification error, balance between cluster, number of feature used. The proposed design scheme is applied to the handwtitten alphabetic characters. Experimental results show the usefulness of the proposed scheme.
Among accessaries, headwear is important to protect one's face and head from the sun, wind and cold. This study was performed to provide fundamental data on college female students' head shape by classifying their head shapes and by analyzing the characteristics of each head shape in order to improve the fitness of headwear. The subjects were 193 Korean college female students. The subjects were directly measured anthropometrically and indirectly analyzed photo-graphically. By direct and indirect measurement, 5 factors were extracted through factor analysis and those factors comprised 76.34% of the total variance. 3 clusters as their head shape were categorized using 5 factor scores by cluster analysis. Type 1 was characterized by long head type and having smallest head thickness and head girth. Type 2 had average size and the most round-head type. Type 3 was characterized by short head type and the largest head thickness and head girth.
The effective construction for ready-made clothes is one of the central concerns of both consumers and manufactures in today's apparel industry. So in order to reduce the burden of stocks and increase clothing fitness, systematic information on typical body size and somatotypes is essential. This study was performed to provide fundamental data on junior high school girls' somatotype by classifying the lower body somatotype and analyzing the characteristics of each somatotype. The subject were 234 Korean Junior High School Girls. The subjects were directly measured anthropometrically and indirectly analyzed photographically. The result of factor analysis indicated that 6 factors were extracted through factor analysis and those factors comprise 70.2% of total variance. Using factor scores cluster analysis was carried out and the subject were classified into 3 cluster as their lower boby front and side silhouette.
