It was increased leisure hours by automation and computerization of industry. Many people spend on hours in enjoying leisure sports, and then. nowadays, Many women tend to prefer casual wear to formal suits. The purpose of this research was to design of outdoor-wear that improve the functional and aesthetic effects for clothing comfort. Total 4 design prototype consisting of jumper and slacks were developed for this research. Outdoor-wear design forced on armhole type of jumper and ease of the back crotch length of slacks to improve the functional and aesthetic effects. And Outdoor-wear design focused on color harmony to aesthetic effects. Ease amount and materials of jumper and slacks were controlled. Design A: Jumper was designed as dropped shoulder with set-in steeve and band collar, A break-away zipper to facilitate ventilation control were made the area of back of jumper and the area of outside seam line of slacks Color of jumper and slacks were olive green color. Ease amount of the crotch length of slacks pattern was constructed as 7% of total crotch length: Design B 4DM cut pattern were applied to the jumper and slacks pattern. A break-away zipper to facilitate ventilation control were made the area of back of jumper and the area of inside seam line of thigh. Color of jumper and slacks were grey and orange color. Ease amount of the crotch length of slacks pattern was constructed as 5% of total crotch length. Design C : Jumper was designed as the set in sleeve and hood. and A break- away zipper to facilitate ventilation control were made the ares of the armhole and elbow. Color of jumper and slacks were ivory and orange color. Ease amount of the crotch length of slacks pattern was constructed as 5% of total crotch length. Design D : Jumper was designed as raglan sleeve. Color of jumper and slacks were olive green color. Ease amount of the crotch length of slacks pattern was constructed as 5% of total crotch length. Total six females, ages 20-45, served as subjects for this research. Subjects have standard body type, generally, wearing 66 size of ready-to-wear clothing. The performance of the newly designed outdoor-wear was evaluated for their effectiveness in several aspects such as conditions of skin temperature, sensory evaluation of comfort during body movements, appearance and color harmony and aesthetic collar design. Design 3 was appeared to be the most positive in aesthetic evaluation and functional effects of design 2 of 4DM cut pattern was appeared to be beter than other designs.
The study figured out the operational conditions of a two-way movement actuator made of one-way shape memory alloy (OWSMA) for versatile ventilation intelligent garments. To develop a low-power actuator that consumes energy only when a garment changes its form such as opening and closing, multiple channels of OWSMA were used, and optimum diameter of the wires was examined. For the switch device, optimum voltage application unit time was determined. Optimum diameter of OWSMA wire was determined by applying 3.7V to the pre-determined candidate diameters, which demonstrated two-way operation in previous studies. In order to evaluate the optimum voltage application time, the internal diameter of the actuator was measured while increasing and decreasing by 50 ms from the unit time of voltage application. Delay time under two-way operation of the actuator was measured to minimize interference caused by heat between channels. Power of 3.7V was applied to OWSMA for assessment of optimal time, and the whole process from heating to cooling was video-recorded with a thermal image camera to determine the point of time at which the temperature of OWSMA wire dropped below the phase transformation temperature. The results showed that $0.4{\Phi}$ was the most suitable diameter, and the optimum unit time of voltage applied to open and close the actuator was 4100ms. It was also shown that the delay time should be more than 1.8 seconds between two-way operations of the actuator.
The purposes of this study were to claassify of clothing-wearing motives, to analyze tendency of fashion in campus, and to propose fashion merchandising plans and marketing strategies of companies for female college students. Research had been done during 1 week each on April and October in 1998 and 1999. Sixty-two students in spring semester and 54 student in fall semester were surveyed and analyzed. Their grades and majors were not considered in this study. Fashion Diary had been written by students and then their statements were analyzed by the means of the qualitative data analysis. Following conclusions were obtained from this study. 1. Clothing-wearing motives were classified with 'group depending on daily work', 'group depending on image', 'group depending on body supplement', 'group depending on weather', 'group of fashion following', 'group depending on courtesy', 'group depending on mood', and 'group of unconcerning'. 2. The fashion tendency of the students were layered look and they preferred casual styles, such as round t-shirts, jean pants, and cardigans. The color of white, black, and gray were prevalent for top wear, and the color of blue, black, beige for bottom wear in both seasons. For shoes, color of black, brown, white were popular. For bags, black, blue, and khaki color were prevailed. 3. The proposals obtained from this study are as follows : 1) Production of clothing enforced functional and practical base is wanted for 'group depending on daily work'. 2) Designs considering body parts such as hip, arm hole, shoulder, and thigh are needed. 3) Utilization of new materials such as waterproof with ventilation, opaque (means 'not see-through'), antipollution finishing process are required. 4) Simple designs of clothing which could be performed by herself with various accessories. Thermochromic materials are wanted for 'group of fashion following'. 5) Diversity of semi-suit is required for 'group depending on courtesy'.

The purpose of this research is to investigate the actual wearing conditions of working uniform and identify problems for the aircraft mechanic. For this study, questionnaire surveys were conducted dividing according to styles of clothing; one-piece and two-piece styles. Subjects were 343 men working in flight line. Questionnaire of 159 two-piece styles and 184 one-piece ones were used in analysis. The results of the study are as follows; The result about wearing each type of working uniform showed that the two-piece one is always as the air force uniform, whereas the one-piece one is worn only a few times. They felt inconvenience during all operations except in the sitting position, crawling position, and positions in which they were using tools. Accordingly, the result of the functionality reported dissatisfaction on all question items. Therefore, uniform of two-piece style achieved better results on all questions related to motional flexibility and functionality. Questions on changes to finishing methods showed that each airline employed different methods for both two-pieced and one-pieced uniforms. The answers about the unstitched or worn-out parts of the two-piece garments showed that pants were unstitched on the inner seam of the trouser leg and hip regions, but the upper one was not. In case of the one-pieced uniform, the parts of wearing out is the seam of hip and the unstitched parts are knee region and hem line of pants. Questions concerning their satisfaction with the material of uniforms indicated a high rate of dissatisfaction, particularly in its ventilation and absorbency. Questions concerning the preferred design of working uniform indicated a preference for two-piece uniform rather than one-piece ones.

This study presented functional designs for development of functional compression wear for men in their forties based on body muscles as well as designed 2D patterns using 3D standard body form data of men in their forties. Patterns with an optimal stretch rate were proposed through a comfort evaluation. Different material was used for different areas such as the sports ability strengthening areas including body parts that often move for sports (such as the shoulders, abdomen and lower arm), areas that require ventilation for perspiration (such as the chest and back center, and armpits), and stable form areas (such as the chest, waist and elbows). The front and back surface areas of the developed pattern was an average 102.4% size compared to the body surface area. The results indicated that the 90% reduction pattern showed changes in pressure value according to area of movement, had the best breathability when worn, and had the best, most comfortable fit compared to the other subjects. The clothing pressure values of the pattern were around 22.1-23.4mmHg for the arm area (which has a big movement range and has many muscles) and 10.4-11.8mmHg for chest and abdomen areas related to major organs and breathing, indicating appropriate clothing pressure. A compression wear top pattern with pressure appropriate to the target age range and excellent appropriateness for the body form will be developed for men in their forties. A study method will be proposed to develop design technology for ergonomic compression wear tops with excellent fit and comfort.

This study evaluated thermo-physiological and subjective properties of improved disposable coveralls for railroad carriage maintenance through climatic chamber trials and a filed study. Subjects wore five kinds of disposable coveralls (Type A: a disposable coverall on the market, Type B: a coverall with an improved hood and size-adjustable design, Type C: a coverall with a portable hood, Type D: a coverall with small holes for ventilation, Type E: a sleeveless coverall, Type F: a separated type of coverall with half sleeves) The air temperature in the climatic chamber was set in 9$^{\circ}C$ and 30$^{\circ}C$ For each condition, subjects simulated the railroad work for 120min. and rectal temperature, skin temperatures, clothing microclimate and subjective sensations were measured. The results of chamber trials showed rectal temperature and clothing microclimate did not display significant differences by clothing type. In 30$^{\circ}C$ air temperature, mean skin temperature was higher in Type E and Type F than in Type A(p<0.05) but between the improved coveralls(B-F), we could not find any significant difference. In the case of thermal comfort, the most preferred types were Type B and Type C in 9$^{\circ}C$ and Type F in 30$^{\circ}C$. All subjects felt more comfortable in the improved coveralls than in coveralls of the market (Type A). In field study, workers preferred Type B, Type C and Type F to Type A but the most favorite type differed by the specific type of work. Especially, workers were dissatisfied that Type D tore easily due to lots of small holes around the armpits and Type I did not protect workers' shoulder and arms from oil contamination. According to the climatic chamber trials and field study, the most effective coveralls were Type B and Type C for winter and Type F for summer.
This study identified the characteristics of fashion rental service users as well as analyzed their purchase decision-making processes. A qualitative investigation was conducted through in-depth interviews with 13 women in their 20s-30s who have experienced renting fashion items due to a high interest in fashion. The results of the study are summarized as follows. The need recognition stage analyzed ventilation by mass media, SNS impact, curiosity, saving shopping time and money, awareness of situational necessity, and creation of various styles. The information search stage analyzed how users obtained information from 2 different sources of nonmarketer-dominated sources and marketer-dominated sources. The pre-purchase stage analyzed the evaluation of alternatives in which study participants used 2 evaluation criteria for fashion rental services and fashion rental items. The purchase stage analyzed how participants wait and select desired items (when receiving the notification of rentable items) or select alternative products. The consumption stage examined the usage frequency and usage method. The study divided the post-consumption evaluation stage into 2 categories for evaluation: personal feelings and service. The post-consumption behavior stage analyzed how participants displayed WOM, eWOM and purchase rental product behavior. Clothing shopping orientation of study participants is displayed in 5 dimensions of brand-seeking propensity, individuality-seeking propensity, economic efficiency-seeking propensity, rationality-seeking propensity, and pleasure-seeking propensity. This study identified three main characteristics in the study participants: interest in the fashion, favorable attitude toward used fashion items, consciousness of others.

This study analyzed the effect of wearing a vest with an attached electric fan. Korean men in their 20s were given test "fan vests" equipped with fans on the chest, stomach, upper back, or lower back to wear. Participants wore them in a climate chamber set to replicate a summer environment (30±3℃, 75±1%RH, 0.2 m/sec). Subjective sensations and surface temperatures were measured. The attached fan on the front of the vest lowered the temperature of the vest and the skin surface where the fan was positioned, regardless of whether the wearer engaged in exercise. However, a fan attached to the lower back of the vest was effective in lowering the lower back of the vest as well as the upper back, back of the arm, and back of the neck. In addition, subjective evaluations indicated that a vest with fans attached to the stomach and lower back provided a cool sensation. However, it was confirmed that the design of an auxiliary tool capable of dispersing the weight is necessary since the weight of the fans can interfere with the comfort of wearing the vest.
