A Study on the Insolvency Prediction Model for Korean Shipping Companies

  • To develop a shipping company insolvency prediction model, we sampled shipping companies that closed between 2005 and 2023. In addition, a closed company and a normal company with similar asset size were selected as a paired sample. For this study, data of a total of 82 companies, including 42 closed companies and 42 general companies, were obtained. These data were randomly divided into a training set (2/3 of data) and a testing set (1/3 of data). Training data were used to develop the model while test data were used to measure the accuracy of the model. In this study, a prediction model for Korean shipping insolvency was developed using financial ratio variables frequently used in previous studies. First, using the LASSO technique, main variables out of 24 independent variables were reduced to 9. Next, we set insolvent companies to 1 and normal companies to 0 and fitted logistic regression, LDA and QDA model. As a result, the accuracy of the prediction model was 82.14% for the QDA model, 78.57% for the logistic regression model, and 75.00% for the LDA model. In addition, variables 'Current ratio', 'Interest expenses to sales', 'Total assets turnover', and 'Operating income to sales' were analyzed as major variables affecting corporate insolvency.

Closed-form solution for the buckling behavior of the delaminated FRP plates with a rectangular hole using super-elastic SMA stitches

  • Layer separation (delamination) is an essential threat to fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) plates under dynamic, static, and fatigue loads. Under compressive load, the growth of delamination will lead to structural instability. The aim of this paper is to present a method using shape memory alloy (SMA) stitches to suppress the delamination growth in a FRP plate and to improve the buckling behavior of the plate with a rectangular hole. The present paper is divided into two parts. Firstly, a closed-form (CF) formulation for evaluating the buckling load of the FRP plate is presented. Secondly, the finite element method (FEM) will be employed to calculate the buckling loads of the plates which serves to validate the results obtained from the closed-form method. The novelty of this work is the development of the closed-form solution using the p-Ritz energy approach regarding the stress-dependent phase transformation of SMA to trace the equilibrium path. For the FEM, the Lagoudas constitutive model of the SMA material is implemented in FORTRAN programming language using a user material subroutines (VUMAT). The model is simulated in ABAQUS/Explicit solver due to the nature of the loading type. The cohesive zone model (CZM) is applied to simulate the delamination growth.

  • The flash point is used to categorize inflammable liquids according to their relative flammability. Such a categorization is important for the safe handling, storage, and transportation of inflammable liquids. The flash point temperature of two binary liquid mixtures(n-octane+n-decane and n-octane+n-dodecane) has been measured for the entire concentration range using Seta-flash closed cup tester based on the ASTM D3278 method. The closed cup flash point temperature was estimated using the UNIFAC(Universal Functional Activity Coefficient) group contribution model. The experimentally derived flash point was also compared with the predicted flash point from the UNIFAC model. The UNIFAC model is able to estimate the flash point fairly well for n-octane+n-decane mixture and n-octane+n-dodecane mixture.

Position Control of a 3 dof Closed -loop Cylinder System Using ER Valve Actuators

  • This paper presents the position tracking control of a closed-loop cylinder system using electro-rheological (ER) valve actuators. After manufacturing three sets of cylindrical ER valves on the basis of Bingham model of ER fluid, a 3 dof(degree-freedom) closed-loop cylinder system having the heave, roll and pitch motions is constructed. The governing equations of motion are derived using Lagrange's equation and a control model is formulated by considering nonlinear characteristics of the system, Sliding mode controllers are the designed for these ER valve actuators in order to achieve position tracking control. The effectiveness of trajectory tracking control performance of the proposed cylinder system is demonstrated through computer simulation and experimental implementation of the sliding mode controller.

  • Repetitive control is a proposed control strategy in view of the internal model principle and achieves a high accuracy asymptotic tracking property by implementing a model that generates the periodic signals of period into the closed-loop system. Since the repetitive control system contains a periodic signal generator with positive feedback loop, which reduces the stability margin, in the overall closed-loop system, the stability of the closed-loop system should be considered as an important problem. In case that a real system has plant uncertainties which are not represented through modeling, the robust stability problem of the repetitive control system has not been considered sufficiently. In this paper, we propose the robust stability condition for the system with modeling uncertainty. The proposed robust stability condition will be obtained using the robust performance condition in the H$_{\infty}$ control. Moreover, by use of the proposed robust stability condition, we propose a procedure that designs a repetitive controller and a feedback controller simultaneously which can stabilize the overall closed-loop system robustly and which can also do the closedloop system without repetitive controller..

  • 본 연구는 폐쇄루프 공급망 모델(Closed-Loop Supply Chain Model)을 이용하여 새로운 형태의 혼합형유전알고리즘(Proposed Hybrid Genetic Algorithm: pro-HGA)접근법의 수행도를 평가하기 위한 논문이다. 제안한 폐쇄루프 공급망 모델은 물류네트워크에서 순방향물류(Forward Logistics)와 역물류(Reverse Logistics)를 함께 고려한 통합형 물류모델이며. 이 모델에서는 회수된 제품의 재사용(Reuse), 재판매(Resale) 및 폐기(Waste Disposal)를 함께 고려하고 있다. 제안된 모델의 이행을 위해 기존연구에서 제안한 유전알고리즘(Genetic Algorithm: GA), 혼합형유전알고리즘(Hybrid Genetic Algorithm: HGA)과 본 연구에서 제안한 pro-HGA를 함께 적용하여 각 접근법들의 우수성을 비교분석하였다. 분석결과 본 연구에서 제안한 pro-HGA가 기존의 GA, HGA보다 더 우수한 결과를 얻었다.

혼합형 메타휴리스틱 접근법을 이용한 지속가능한 폐쇄루프 공급망 네트워크 모델: 국내 모바일폰 산업을 중심으로 (Sustainable Closed-loop Supply Chain Model using Hybrid Meta-heuristic Approach: Focusing on Domestic Mobile Phone Industry)

  • 본 연구는 국내 모바일폰 산업을 위한 지속가능한 폐쇄루프 공급망 (Sustainable closed-loop supply chain: SCLSC) 네트워크 모델을 제안한다. 제안된 SCLSC 네트워크 모델의 지속 가능성을 위해 경제적, 환경적, 사회적 요인들이 각각 고려된다. 이들 세 가지 요인들은 SCLSC 네트워크 모델의 각 단계에서 고려되는 설비의 구축 및 운영으로부터 발생하는 총비용 최소화, CO2 방출 총량 최소화, 사회적 영향력 최대화를 목표로 한다. 이러한 목표들은 SCLSC 네트워크의 모델링 단계에서 각각 개별적인 목적함수로 고려되어야 하기 때문에 SCLSC 네트워크 모델은 다목적 최적화 문제로 간주할 수 있다. SCLSC 네트워크 모델은 수리모델을 사용하여 표현되며, 혼합형 메타휴리스틱 접근법을 수리모델에 적용하여 그 해를 구한다. 수치실험에서는 제안된 혼합형 메타휴리스틱 접근법의 수행도가 기존의 메타휴리스틱 접근법들의 수행도와 비교된다. 실험결과는 본 연구에서 제안된 혼합형 메타휴리스틱 접근법이 기존의 메타휴리스틱 접근법들과 비교하여 더 뛰어난 수행도를 보여주는 것을 알 수 있다.

농업 생산과 농작물 가격에 관한 균형 모델 (Equilibrium Model in Price Behavior and Agricultural Production)

  • 본연구는 생산과 수요 양면을 고려한 농업입지모델에서 농작물 시장가격의 단기 및 장기적 변화를 고찰한다. 농작물 가격과 생산량의 단기적 변화 상황은 생산량의 연간 변화량에 의해서 결정되는 것으로 파악하면서 수리적 모형을 제시한다. 장기적 모형에서 농작물의 가격은 여러 가지 농업을 둘러싼 환경 및 변수(수요, 생산량, 생산비용, 운송률)의 변화를 고려하였다. 또한 예상 수익 모델(expected return model)과 보장 수익 모델(guaranteed return model)을 각각 제시하면서, 농작물의 생산량과 가격의 장기적 변화를 조사한다. 농작물 가격 하락은 지대 및 토지 가격의 하락과 관련된다.
