  • Bells palsy is a usually innocuous but psychologically distressing disease. The majority of cases are of the so-called idiopathic type, the etiology of which is unknown. This 52 year-old female patient was treated with repeated stellate ganglion bupivacaine blocks, acupuncture and transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation, with return of function. In our case studies, using thermographic images to diagnosis and to evaluate objective assessment of treatment of Bells palsy, we observed the correlation between neurologic symptoms and thermographic image.

  • At the conclusion of a double-blinded, randomized clinical trial of propranolol hydrochloride, but before un blinding, the patients and clinic personnel were asked to guess the treatment group assignment of each patient. While 79.9% of the patients receiving propranolol correctly Identified their treatment group assignment, 57.2% of the patients receiving placebo incorrectly guessed that they were aiso in the propranolol group. No specific mechanism was identified to explain why more patients receiving propranolol were better able to guess' their group assignment. Clinic physicians correctly identified the group assignment of 69.9% of the patients receiving propranolol and 68.8% of the patients receiving placebo. Clinic coordinators correctly identified the group assignment of 67.1% of the patients receiving propranolol and 70.6% of the patients receiving placebo. For clinic personnel, heart rate level and heart rate change seem to be the mechanisms employed to Identify their patients' treatment assignment.

  • The purpose of this study was to review the results of the neurolytic trigeminal nerve block in 41 patients from April 1992 to March 1994. Most common site of trigeminal neuralgia was the second division(27 patients, 68.3%). Nineteen patients of these were treated with infraorbital nerve block. Another 4 patients had cerebello-pontine angle tumor close to TREZ in MRI findings therefore they were excluded from this study. Thirty nine patients (95.1%) remained free of pain. Only 2 patients treated with infraorbital nerve block experienced recurring pain. Although the follow-up period was short, alcohol blocks proved effective and safe for treatment of trigeminal neuralgia.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to present 3 cases reports of psoriasis treated by Damwi-hwan - focused on lipid metabolic abnomarilty. Methods : We administered Damwi-hwan to three patients who showed psoriasis with lipid metabolic abnormality and evaluated the results by Psoriasis Area and Severity Index(PASI). Results : After the treatment three patients showed improvements in PASI. PASI of patient 1 changed from 15.4 to 0.4; patient 2 from 32.7 to 1.2 ; patient 3 from 7.6 to 0.6. Conclusions : The results suggest that Damwi-hwan can be an effective treatment for psoriasis who has lipid metabolic abnormality.

Methods : This case study was done on 3 Postmenopausal Hot Flush patients who have visited Korean Medicine Clinic. Hwangryunhaedoktang-Gamibang was prescribed to all 3 patients and evaluated the symptom change through photographs and questionnaire. Investigator's Global Assessment(IGA) was used to evaluate the objective symptom and Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) was used to evaluate the subjective change. Results & Conclusions : The IGA and VAS were decreased in all patients. Most symptoms of 3 patients were improved. As a result of examining IGA, VAS scores and photographs, Hwangryunhaedoktang-Gamibang can be effective on Postmenopausal hot flush.

We measured the effect biweekly by using Urticaria Activity Score(UAS). We analyzed the information and medical history of patients by Frequency analysis, and UAS by Repeated measures, ANOVA.Results & Conclusions : Every items of UAS were improved by Soyangin Medicines. And the improvement was statistically significant(p<0.05).

  • Through diversification of 4th industries and transportation and globalization, tourism was developed for medical purposes, not limited to touring tourist attractions. The trend of medical tourism in Korea is shifting from large and medium-sized hospitals to professional medical services in one area of small hospitals rather than professional medical services. However, small hospitals lack medical coordinators and interpretation services, and tourists who visit Korea for treatment lack information on small hospitals. Therefore, a platform is needed to match small hospitals with medical tourists. In this study, using Platform as a Service (Paas) in cloud computing, clinic administrators can access the app to introduce information about their hospitals with simple manipulations. Tourists also want to propose a customized platform to select the right area for them to check information about small-scale hospitals and choose the treatment and tourist attractions they wants. In this study, using Platform as a Service (Paas) in cloud computing, clinic administrators can access the app to introduce information about their hospitals with simple manipulations.

  • Calcifying aponeurotic fibroma (CAF) is an uncommon benign soft-tissue fibroblastic tumor with characteristic histological features. It mainly occurs in the distal part of the extremities, such as the hands and feet, in children and adolescents. Males are twice as commonly affected as females. CAF exhibits local invasiveness, and hence, its recurrence rate is also high. Therefore, complete surgical excision is both diagnostic and therapeutic. The occurrence of CAF in the maxillofacial region, especially the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), is very rare, and this necessitates its differentiation from other TMJ neoplasms. The differential diagnosis of CAF requires microscopic examination. Herein, we report a rare case of CAF located at the left mandibular condyle, which was confirmed by histopathological analysis.
