Generally, the effect of the cement deep mixing method on the improvement of clay ground is far greater than the effect of physical improvement. Although it leads to great improvement strength in the initial stage, there are not many constructional precedents in Korea and it is hard to manage quality according to the cement-clay mixing method. In order to figure out the strength characteristics according to the mixing ratio of cement, sand, and clay and the improvement characteristics of weak ground according to the forms of the specimens to be improved, marine clay was used in this study to conduct the uniaxial compression test and soil bin model test. The test piece specimens for the uniaxial compression test were mixed with sand in a fixed ratio with the criterion of the water cement ratio. The cement was mixed with clay in the ratios of 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40% to the clay weight. The moisture content of the soil ground was made in the ratios of 40%, 60%, and 80%. The test piece specimens went through curing by moistening for 7, 14, and 28 days and underwent the uniaxial compression test according to the curing period. For the bearing test, the soil bin models were made and the ground improved in the Mat type was formed. After that, the bearing strength was compared in this study according to the improvement ratio and analyzed the intervening effect between the walls of the improved specimens.
This study was started to study the buffer zone of Daejeon metropolitan city in order to study the policy and environment for the suitability evaluation of the use of green buffer zone. The target of the study was selected as the buffer zone of western buffer, which is frequently used in the Daejeon Metropolitan City, and a preliminary index was selected to evaluate the suitability of the green buffer zone. AHP analysis was conducted to increase the reliability of the preliminary indicators and the weight was analyzed by questionnaires to experts and practitioners. In addition, based on the existing statistical data, we rebuilt the green buffer zone and investigated the current condition, and compared and analyzed the green buffer zone and the places where they did not. The results are as follow. First, unlike the statute interpretation that construction can not be done in buffered green spaces, green buffer zones have been utilized in various ways. However, the lack of advanced citizen consciousness of the residents, the responsibility of the responsible person, and the problem of the management office alone are causing problems. Second, according to the results of AHP questionnaire analysis, functional and stability among the appropriateness indexes of green buffer zone utilization were evaluated highly. Park accessibility and utilization potential also weighed somewhat, and it was judged that the epochal trend was more important in the use of green buffer zones. Third, analysis of the status of Western green buffer zones in Daejeon showed that the utilization rate was more than half. This suggests the necessity of judging the appropriateness of the application of the green buffer zone effectively due to the change of the perception of the green buffer zone of the residents. Fourth, as a result of comparing and analyzing the site where the site is used and the site where it is not, it is found that it is used within a range that does not greatly affect each index. However, as the stability has decreased, we have decided that the utilization method is most damaging to the green zone, and we should strive to improve the stability in future. Finally, the analysis of a red clay road and a red clay road sites decreased from Class I of stability to Grade II. However, the fall figure showed a difference between the 13 % drop rate of the target location and the 5% decline rate of utilization. The difference was analyzed as the difference of width of a red clay road. This can be regarded as one of the ways of damaging the green zone to the minimum extent, which is a great advantage in selecting the future utilization plan.

Fly ashes mixed with clay as 70:30 weight percent were sintered by microwave energy and a 2.45 Ghz kitchen model microwave oven was used. Samples were sintered at $1,150^{\circ}C$ and kept at that temperature up to 50 minutes by 10 minutes intervals. Microstructures were taken by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Energy Dispersive Spectrometry (EDS) analysis of a raw fly ash was taken. X-ray diffraction analysis was done, and compressive strengths and apparent densities were measured. Pore sizes of the samples became smaller as time passed by, but compressive strengths and apparent densities did not change much. Numerical analysis on the microwave heated system was carried out in order to figure out heat transfer phenomena in the cavity.

Strain-softening model is developed to characterize the interface behavior of geomembrane with geotextile and geosynthetic clay liner(GCL). The model proposed in this research is calibrated by using data from direct shear tests conducted on smooth and textured geomembrane. The research is divided into two regions, pre-peak and post-peak, to take into account of strain-softening effect. Although slight difference between measured and back calculated data is observed under high normal stress, good agreements, in general, are found from back calculations. Especially, good consistency is observed in the case of low normal stress. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the proposed model can be a reasonable constitutive law to figure out the behavior of strain-softening between interfaces of geomembrane. In addition, DSC(Disturbed State Concept) model is also presented for further application in geosynthetic interfaces.

Heungdukwang's(興德王) costume ordinance(834A.D.) is a very important written historical record because it reveals Tongil Shilla's(統-新羅) costume. And among the clothing pieces that appeared in Heungdukwang's(興德王) costume ordinance, from Pyosang(表裳), Naesang(內裳), we know they wore one skirt over another. But skirts appearing in visual records are wort in waist line or breast line, and when they wore skirts in breast line, there were shoulder belts or not. Also among the clothing pieces that appeared in Heungdukwang'a (興德王) costume ordinance, Yo( ) and Ban( ) seems to be connected with skirt. but it is not clear. So this study focuses on the history of wearing skirt in breast line and one skirt over another, shoulder belts of skirt, and relation among yo( ), Ban( ) and skirt. The results are as follows. First, wearing skirt in breast line is already appeared in Ancient Shilla's(新羅) clay figure, and wearing one skirt over another is also appeared in Sunhung tomb's mural painting. so it is not completely under the influence of Tang(唐). Second, the shoulder belts of skirt is for convenience of action, But, at that time, there is no shoulder belts of skirt in Tang(唐). Third, between Yo( ) and Ban( ), If Yo( ) is connected with skirt, it is a shoulder belts of skirt or waist of skirt. And Ban( ) is a ire of skirt.
This study was carried out to comparatively identify characteristics of turbid water influence in Imha Reservoir, Soyang Reservoir, and Daecheong Reservoir in Korea. We used 3 years dataset from 2002 to 2004 and analyzed seasonal water quality characteristics, particular parameters in association with turbidity, and light transparency to figure out the trends. All parameters to be used in the study were total phosphate (TP), total nitrogen (TN), chlorophyll-${\alpha}$ (Chl), suspended solids (SS), Secchi depth (SD), conductivity, and verticallight extinction coefficienct($K_d$), euphotic zone ($Z_{eu}$), and critical depth ($Z_p$). All parameters depend on season and watershed. Suspended solids from Soyang Reservoir were usually caused by TP, mainly related to living wastes and agricultures in upper stream. Daecheong Reservoir was influenced by organic matters related to large phytoplankton biomass in summer and inorganic suspended solids by nutrients in the winter. However, in case of Imha Reservoir, turbid water, consisted in silt and clay through heavy precipitation remained in the waterbody to decrease water transparency along with TP and caused the light limitation in winter. Overall results suggest that it was necessary to establish various management programs because the reasons occurring turbidity were varied according to the reservoir circumstances.

This study examines Geumgwan Gaya's headgear, belt, and footwear. The relics excavated from tombs were examined first, then earthenware and clay figurines, followed by the visual data of related neighboring countries. The results are as follows. The headgear of Geumgwan Gaya, identified in the relics, is daegwan (帶輪式立飾冠) and lip (笠). Daegwan is a diadem with branch-shaped ornaments. It has an organic cap with fabric and leather as well as ties the strings to both ends of the diadem. Lip can be seen in the mounted figure of the earthenware. In neighboring countries, the top of lip is round or straight, but Geumgwan Gaya's lip is pointed and curved slightly backward. In addition, from neighboring countries' data, it is considered that the conical hat and gun (巾) are worn in Geumgwan Gaya. The belt is made of cloth or leather. Geumgwan Gaya also uses a belt with an animal-shaped hook and Jin style belt. Jin style belt shows the association with three-Yan culture of the Seonbi people in patterns and forms. Footwear of Geumgwan Gaya is li (履) and boots. Li included leather shoes, lacquer shoes, straw shoes and wooden shoes. In addition, there are leather boots decorated with round ornaments.
This study produced smelting slag through the reproduction of an ancient iron manufacturing technique, with the aim of facilitating a comprehensive understanding of the process by analyzing the slag components. The research suggests an interpretation method using the ratio of the subcomponents relative to the main slag components as an alternative to existing methods. We investigated the component source within the smelting furnace from which the slag is derived by developing an understanding of the tendency between slags. Based on bivariate graph and triangular coordinate data analysis, it was found that a slag can be categorized according to its components. The groups were identified as the ore slag group(centered on the ore), and the clay slag group(centered on clay and granite soil). This research determined that it is possible to estimate the components derived from the slag, depending on which group they belong to or resemble, as shown in Figure 4~7. It was found that a comprehensive understanding of the ratio between the components was more accurate than a simple analysis of the contents, for the interpretation of ancient iron manufacturing processes. This is based on the fact that a higher ratio of $TiO_2$ was detected by the components analysis, and an analysis of all the slag showed that the value of $CaO/SiO_2$ ratio was lower than 0.4, which corresponds to the reproduction experiment condition in which flux was not used.
This paper is an experimental result of investigating lateral soil movements at piled bridge abutments by using the centrifuge model facility. Three different centrifuge model experiments, changing the methods of ground improvement at bridge abutment on the soft clayey soil (no improvement, preconsolidation and plastic board drains (PBD), sand compaction pile (SCP) + PBD), were carried out to figure out which method is the most appropriate for resisting against the lateral soil movements. In the centrifuge modelling, construction process in field was reconstructed as close as possible. Displacements of abutment model, ground movement, vertical earth pressure, cone resistance after soil improvement and distribution of water content were monitored during and after centrifuge model tests. As results of centrifuge model experiments, preconsolidation method with PBD was found to be the most effective against the lateral soil movement by analyzing results about displacements of abutment model, ground movement and cone resistance. Increase of shear strength by preconsolidation method resulted in increasing the resistance against lateral soil movement effectively although SCP could mobilize the resistance against lateral soil movement. It was also found that installment with PBD beneath the backfill of bridge abutment induced effective drainage of excess pore water pressure during the consolidation by embanking at the back of the abutment and resulted in increasing the shear strength of clay soil foundation and eventually increasing the resistance of lateral soil movement against piles of bridge abutment.

Restoration of DMZ has come up with the discussion on the peaceful use of the DMZ and the conservation plan of the army. In this study, we aim to identify soil characteristics of 108 sites to figure out environmental conditions around the iron fence of DMZ where vegetation has been removed repeatedly. Based on the soil characteristics and climate variables, hierarchy clustering was performed to categorize sites. As a result, we categorized 108 sites into 4 types: middle elevation region, lowland, East coast lowland, other areas. Group of 'other area' is only high in nutrient and clay proportion. Others are in igneous rock and metamorphic rocks with a high proportion of sand and lower nutrients than the optimum range of growth in Korean forest soil. The middle elevation region has a high altitude, low temperature. The east coast lowland has a high temperature in January and low precipitation. The lowland has a low altitude and high temperature. This category provides the environmental condition around the DMZ fence and can be used to select plants for restoration. The restoration project around the DMZ iron fence should satisfy the security of military plans, which means that functional restoration is prior to ecological restoration such as vegetation management under a power line. Additionally, improvement of soil quality and surface stability through restoration projects is required to enhance the resilience of the ecosystem in DMZ.
