초중고 남녀 학생의 과학수업과 과학자에 대한 태도 (Attitudes of Boys and Girls in Elementary and Secondary Schools towards Science Lessons and Scientists)

  • In this study, the attitudes of about 1200elementary and secondary students towards sciences lessons and scientists were investigated. For the survey of this study, simillar numbers of students in Seoul were selected from the 5th, 8th and 11th grades and from both sexes. For the attitudes towards science lessons, in the survey questionnaire, there were questions on the type of science lesson which students prefer and on student's assessment of science lessons which they receive. For the attitudes towards scientists, there were questions on scientists whom students respect, on students assessment of scientists and on students assessment of themselves. Results of this study can be summarized as follows: (1) A great majority of students prefered the laboratory-based to classroom-based lessons, but this tendency was less apparent in olderstudents.More boys, compared with girls, prefered laboratory-based study. (2) The student's assessment of science lessons was positive in the elementary school, neutral in the middle school and negative in the high school level. Boys showed more positive attitudes towards the study of science. (3) Apparently more girls than boys mentioned Madam Curie as a scientist whom they respect, Students tended to respect scientists in terms of their personalities rather than their cognitive abilities. (4) Students tended to assess that scientist's are more able than themselves in cognitive areas while themselves are better in affective areas. The gap between student's asessments of scientists and that of themselves became bigger in high school students. The gap between boy's assessments of themselves and girl's assessments of themselves was bigger in high school level than in middle school. (5) The decline of students attitude towards science lessons was bigger than their attitude towards scientists.

소프트웨어 교육에서 과정중심 평가를 위한 디버깅 과제 및 도구 개발 (Development of Debugging Tasks and Tool for Process-centered Assessment on Software Education)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 소프트웨어(SW) 교육에서 과정중심 평가를 지원하기 위한 디버깅 과제를 개발하고 서비스하는 사이트를 개발하는 것이다. 초등학교와 중학교 SW교육과정 중 프로그래밍 영역의 성취기준을 살펴보면 반복, 조건과 같은 제어구조를 구현하는 것과 변수, 입출력과 같은 요소로 구성되어 있다. 교육부에서 제시하는 과정중심 평가를 적용하기 위해서는 실제 수업환경에서 활용할 수 있는 과제를 제시하고, 성취수준과의 연계를 고려해야 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 디버깅 과제로 초등학교용 12과제, 중학교용 15과제를 개발하고 그 타당도를 검증하였다. 타당도 검증을 위해서 델파이 검증을 실시한 결과, 디버깅 과제의 수준과 내용이 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 디버깅 챌린지 사이트의 사용성을 휴리스틱 평가법으로 검증한 결과 양호한 수준으로 나타나, 실제 교육현장에서 활용하기에 적합한 것으로 나타났다.

Development of Interactive Mobile Learning Media on Teaching Terms of Mental Status Examination (MSE) for Nursing Students

  • Mental status examination is an important stage in the assessment process because it serves as the foundation for establishing nursing diagnosis and intervention. Until now many students still feel difficult to understand the terms in the assessment of mental status. Interactive Mobile Learning in one of the media that is currently being developed. The use of this media will provide more in-depth learning opportunities, and students can practice their skills in carrying out practicals because of the mobility principle possessed by smartphones. The purpose of this study was to develop a smartphone-based app and evaluate the app's effectiveness by measuring nursing students' knowledge of mental status examination. Design: A randomized trial with a pre-and post-test design was conducted at a university in Indonesia. A total of seventy junior nursing students participated in this study. The intervention group received a smartphone-based app, and the control group received one-time lecture-based learning. We offered the experimental group the app and information about how to use it, and we encouraged them to use it. The control group received classroom instruction. Results: The intervention group scored significantly higher than the control group on knowledge score (t = 19.40, p = 0.000) and satisfaction with the learning method (t = 0.640, p = 0.021) Conclusion: These findings suggest that smartphonebased education could be an effective method in nursing education for teaching mental status examinations.

초중고 교육을 위한 딥러닝 기반 암석 분류기 개발 (Development of deep learning-based rock classifier for elementary, middle and high school education)

  • 최근 딥 러닝(Deep leaning)을 이용한 이미지 인식 분야의 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 육안으로 관찰하여 분류하기 어려운 암석을 이미지만으로 분류하기 위해 딥 러닝 오픈 소스 프레임워크인 Tensorflow 기반의 CNN모델을 사용하여 고등학교 교육과정에서 다루는 암석 18종(화성암 6종, 변성암 6종, 퇴적암 6종)의 이미지를 통해 암석을 분류하는 시스템을 제안한다. 암석의 이미지를 학습시켜 암석을 구별하는 분류기를 개발하여 분류 성능을 확인하였으며 최종적으로 구현한 모바일 어플리케이션을 통해 교실 내 학습 또는 현장체험학습 등에서 학생들의 학습 보조도구로서 사용할 수 있다.

하이퍼 블렌디드 실천모델 기반 초·중등 창의 융합 교육 프로그램 평가도구 개발 및 적용 방안 (Application Methods and Development Assessment Tools for Creative Convergence Education Programs for Elementary and Secondary Schools based on Hyper Blended Practical Model)

  • 다양한 학문을 넘나들며 새로운 지식과 관점을 창의적으로 추구하는 역량은 21세기 융복합시대를 살아가기 위한 기초적 소양으로 자리매김하고 있다. 다양한 창의교육 프로그램 개발에 따라 학습자의 학업성취도를 객관적이고 체계적으로 평가할 수 있는 평가도구 또한 요구되고 있다. 이에, 본 논문에서는 초·중등학생 대상 창의 융합 교육 프로그램의 평가도구로 하이퍼 블렌디드 실천모델에 기반하여 자기 평가, 동료 평가, 창의성 평가, 자기 성찰도구를 제안하였다. 개발된 평가도구는 타당도 검사를 통해 2개 문항을 수정하고 4개 문항을 삭제하여 보다 완성된 평가도구의 개발을 꾀했다. 또한, 평가도구는 전국 초·중등학생 596명을 대상으로 적용되었으며, 적용 결과는 일원배치 분산분석과 워드클라우드를 통해 분석되었다. 분석 결과, 자기 평가와 자기 성찰도구는 학년군에 따른 문항 개발이 필요할 것으로 나타났다. 더불어, 변화하는 교실 환경 속 원격 수업이나 여러 교육 활동에서 본 평가도구를 활용하기를 제안한다. 본 논문을 통해 창의 융복합 교육을 위한 평가체계 및 도구 개발에 시사점을 제공하기 바란다.

예비 초등 교사의 좋은 수학 수업에 대한 인식 (Prospective Elementary School Teachers' Conception on Good Mathematics Instruction)

  • Prospective teachers need to have an opportunity to critically examine their initial perception with regard to effective mathematics instruction during the teacher education period. This study analyzed the perception in relation to good mathematics instruction by a total of 265 prospective teachers from four institutes for elementary teacher education using a survey. The results of this study showed that the pre-service teachers regarded learner, teaching and learning method, selection of content, and construction of curriculum as important for high-quality mathematics instruction. However, they revealed relatively low levels of agreement against the importance of instructional materials, classroom environment and atmosphere, and assessment. On the basis of teachers' perception on each element of effective mathematics instruction, this paper raises issues for discussion and includes some implications for teacher education.

Current State of and Cutoff Schemes for Academic Misconducts in the Cyber Classes

  • The cyber class has many advantages because it removes the limitations of sharing the same time and space of a class in a classroom. However, most instructors still hesitate to use it because it is more vulnerable to academic misconduct than a faceto- face class. To overcome this problem, we identified suspected cheaters out of a group of test-takers through several objective data, and verified whether or not the suspects were actually cheaters. By investigating the status of academic cheating, we also implement our assessment system with Skinner’s reinforcement theory in order to eliminate or reduce cyber misconducts.

"Spot the differences" Game: An Interactive Method That Engage Students in Organic Chemistry Learning

  • For the first time, the spot the differences (STD) game was employed in the teaching of basic organic chemistry course. Three sets of paired pictures associated with selected topics in organic chemistry were presented to the students and they were required to spot the differences between the two pictures. Based on the students' pre and post self-assessment, the STD game resulted in several positive learning outcomes as indicated in the students' reflective writing, including knowledge recall, deeper understanding of a subject, enhanced analytical skill, motivation and fun-filled learning, learning from peers and self-empowerment in learning. The STD game is a desirable teaching and learning tool, as learning in an entertaining and interactive way is highly sought after in today's classroom, especially to novice students. In the future, the STD game can be modified and implemented to cater the needs of different courses and topics.

TIMSS 2011 결과에 나타난 초등학교 4학년 학생들의 수학에 대한 정의적 태도와 교사 변인과의 관계 분석 (An analysis of teacher effects on fourth-grade students' attitudes toward mathematics based on TIMSS 2011 results)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of teacher on fourth-grade students' attitudes toward mathematics using data from TIMSS 2011. Students' attitudes toward mathematics included interest in learning mathematics, interest in mathematics lessons, and confidence in their mathematics ability. Teacher factors included mathematics professional development, confidence in teaching mathematics, teacher-centered mathematics instruction, and enhancing student mathematical thinking. The two level Hierarchical Linear Model was employed to analyze the relationship between teacher factors and student attitudes. Results showed that teacher-centered mathematics instruction significantly and positively predicted students' confidence about their mathematics ability. The findings suggest that school systems and mathematics educators need to provide teachers with the curriculum, assessment, and research-based practices and knowledge to overcome the obstacles to change their mathematics classroom.

초등학교 우수 수업 동영상에 나타난 좋은 수학 수업의 특징 분석 (An Analysis of the Characteristics of Effective Mathematics Instruction in the Elementary School)

  • 본 논문은 초등학교 우수 수업 동영상 20편에 나타난 좋은 수학 수업의 특징을 교육과정과 교육내용, 교수 학습, 교실환경 및 수업 분위기, 평가의 네 가지 측면에서 전체 44개 항목에 대해 5점 척도로 분석하였다. 분석 결과 좋은 수학 수업에서는 기본적으로 교육과정에 의거하여 학습 목표에 따라 필수적인 수학과 기본 개념으로 수업을 구성하였고 교실 내 규칙을 통해 학생 관리가 잘 이루어지고 있었으며 수업 시간을 마무리할 때 평가를 실시하여 학생들의 이해를 점검하는 특징을 가지고 있었다. 반면 공학을 활용한 수업, 놀이를 활용한 수업, 계산을 능숙하게 할 수 있도록 지도하는 수업은 거의 구현되지 않거나 부분적으로 구현되는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과를 토대로 선행 연구와 관련지어 우리나라 좋은 수학 수업의 특징에 대한 논의와 시사점을 제공하였다.
