Clinical Observation on One Case of Paraplegia by Bone Metastasis of Breast Cancer (유방암의 척추전이로 흉추골절 발생한 하지마비 환자의 한.양방 병용 치험 1례)

  • Objective : The purpose of this paper is to report the improvement of the patient with paraplegia after acupuncture, moxibustion, and herbal medicine. Methods : We treated the patient with acupuncture, moxibustion and herbal medication. Results : We treated one case of paraplegia. This patient improved significantly through acupuncture, moxibustion, herbal medicine, and western medicine. Conclusion : Through a collaboration of Western and Korean medicine, we were able to achieve meaningful treatment results.

  • Until now, there have been no study about kinematic analysis of trunk with meridian muscular system. The purpose of this article is to contribute to the knowledge of meridian muscles of trunk that are related with breathing and basic movements. We research into respiration mechanics analysis and basic trunk movement analysis. And we suggest that the studies of the therapy that apply meridian muscles in trunk and respiration abnormality are more necessary.

  • The purpose of this article is to contribute to study on visceral referred pain. Recently it is getting more interest in measurement of pain degree and effective treatment. We have researched on specific character of visceral referred pain, oriental medical referred pain, and some theories of the mechanism of the visceral referred pain. But therapeutics of visceral referred pain is not yet known. It will be necessary of additional study later.

  • Objectives : This study is to evaluate the effect of flexion-distraction technique by measuring surface EMG in low back pain groups. Methods : 5 low back pain patients' constact time, power, fatigue, recovery of muscle were measured before and after flexion-distraction technique. Results : The asymmetry ratio of surface EMG in low back pain groups were Increased, but decreased after flexion-distraction technique. Conclusions : Surface EMG might be used for evaluating the effect of flexion-distraction technique.

  • Objective: We got good effect on one patient who was diagnosed One-and-a-half Syndrome. We report this case with a brief review of related literatures. Method : In the point of Differentiation of Syndrome, these subjects were diagnosed as Giheo(氣虛). We treated her with acupuncture and herbal medication(Bojungiki-tang: 補中益氣湯) Result & Conclusion : Symptoms of the patient on this report were improved after above treatment. this case showed oriental medicine enough could be applied on this disease as one of conservative therapies

  • Fibromyalgia(FMS) is a heterogeneous construct of chronic and widespread musculoskeletal pain that is frequently associated with sleep difficulties, fatigue, and other adjunctive symptoms. This article aims to review the literature on the theory and treatment for fibromyalgia in the chinese language article. chinese language aricles In wanfang data between 2001 and 2004 were reviewed. this result of research demonstrate that Acupuncture, Negative Pressure Therapy(Buhang), the Electrical Acupuncture Stimulation Therapy. Acupoints TENS are applied to treatment for fibromyalgia and these therapic managements of chinese medicine are more effective than western drug treatment.

  • This paper describes possible mechanism of the somatic referred pain. The study of somatic referred pain mechanism is necessary because many patients suffer from several types of muscle pain. This review compares the somatic referred pain with MPS(myofacial pain syndrome). There are similarities between these two pain mechanisms. But the therapeutics of somatic referred pain is yet remain fully unknown. Therefore this review consider origin of variable referred pain. Also it is recommendable to study referred pain mechanism in terms with oriental medical pain concept.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to evaluate clinical effect of Korean medical treatments for the patient who were diagnosed as the Cauda Equina Syndrome. Methods : The patient was treated by Korean medical treatments including acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, herbal medication. The Improvement of clinical symptoms was assessed by Visual Analog Scale(VAS), Oswestry Disability Index(ODI) and Muscle Manual Test(MMT). Results : After treatments, VAS and ODI were generally decreased, MMT was improved in case. Conclusions : The Oriental medical treatments might be effective methods to treat the patient who were diagnosed as the Cauda Equina Syndrome.
